+TourSpecGolfer
Full write up in the blog but this new brands first offerings already put them near the top in wedge making. The company makes it's wedges in Himeji but what also makes it unique is they send the heads to Tsubame Sanjo to a world class polishing company, the same factory that polished the original iPod's screens for apple. It's called the SPY-1 Wedge, I love that Orion stamp on the back face! Two models Type-S & Type-G today I'm talking about the Type-G, later this week I will highlight the Type-S. This Type-G is unique because like the SDJ Limited 115 Prototype they are targeting a new trend the group that likes the visual effect of a straight leading edge instead of a round one, CGS Orion takes it a step further by giving the Type-G model no trailing edge so it's all about a straight edge floating leading edge that sits square to the target instead of opening it up. Do not think for a second that better players want a killed trailing edge, it's very much a personal preference some people play their wedges without opening them and value you straight setup for a better look over a rounded leading edge and a face that rocks open... So which one are you? or have you not tried the non rocking straight face before?
+TourSpecGolfer
Add these to the top wedges at TSG. In no particular order: - Crazy Tour Wedge - Seven Wedge - Sky Dream Proto 115 - A-Grind - Buchi VS200 - Yururi Tataki - CGS Orion Type-S & Type G All of the above 100% handmade and forged in Japan. Here are pics and a quick run down on the Type-S vs G. currently CGS Orion Japan has two models of wedges the Type-G and Type-S. The S features a rounder leading edge for a more traditional look at address while the G is very straight edged for a look that helps you visualize a straighter setup toward the target line. This does not mean sharp leading edge it just refers to the shape of it. As you can see above it's got a slight curve. CGS Orion offers wedges in 3 finishes RAW, Satin, & Mirror the plated finished both have a copper underlay for a softer feel all three finishes are polished in Tsubame Sanjo. Another difference between the S vs G wedges are the trailing edge grind + heel & toe relief the S is meant to be opened up and have the face manipulated for higher flop shots or a more delicate touch around the greens where the G is ideal for players who want to see it straight to the target, have the club sit flat without tilting open and make contact for a straight shot most of the time.
