Posted April 11, 20168 yr comment_255689 Hi guys, I am building a set of irons for a buddy, and he likes lightweight steel. His old set has xp95 regs, and he'd be happy to use them again, but I can get Nippon and Shimada cheaper. He didn't like 950gh, but I suggested Shimada's. Either k3001 or k7001 might be worth a try. Would any of these know which would be most like an xp95? And would reg flex be the way to go? Thanks for the help, Cheers, Ben
April 11, 20168 yr comment_255703 Shimada 7001s are about the best in the shimada line-up for slightly lighter more balanced iron shafts. Feel on them is sensational. Difficult to go with another shaft after using those if that is the weight he likes.
April 11, 20168 yr Author comment_255707 Thanks Hutchy, The 7001 is what I was pushing him towards. Have you used the shafts, and have any comparisons in regards to flex? Cheers, ben
April 12, 20168 yr comment_255727 Yep used them many times benno, they are a goto shaft for me. Have a set right here for a project. Have gone with stiff this time around coming from the monaco and Target tour 120 SR is also available. Flex is smooth and holds up well under pressure. mate of mine uses the reg in irons, but uses tour stiff in the woods. Odd I know but I have seen him use them. They just work. I sold Daves my last set of used regs, he could shed some light.
April 13, 20168 yr Author comment_255775 Will do Hutchy. Though with Daves rotation he probably hasn't hit them yet..
