Mjr. D
I haven't seen any reviews on the latest jbeam driver the zy-7. Has anyone tried it? Comparisons to the zy-11 would be nice.
Steven Lam
haaa, i had about 2 round with the ZY 7, and I had the ZY-11 before. Currently, ZY7 loft 11 square face with AAA 2016 50 S 46" club length This setup is recommended by Chris, Chris told me to get a 0.5-1 degree loft higher than my current gamer which was the Ryoma maxima 10.5, So I got the 11 loft, even I think I should get the 11.5 degree loft for a higher launch, I m glad I listened to chris, this is a high loft, low spin and mid launching combo. My ZY-11 was 10 degree loft with bangvoo 60s Zy 7 is easier to hit compare to Zy 11 lower spin, head are not foamed, but not too loud. straighter I need few more rounds to write a better review, so first impression, not the longest but the straightest, The AAA 2016 is amazing, very stable, even I play it at 46". better feel than 2015 model. but performance is pretty close. to be continue........ wmclaren_f1
Is the zy7 deeper or as deep a face as the ZY11?
Steven Lam
I sold my ZY 11, but in my memories, the ZY 11 is slightly deeper and more triangular. I prefer the ZY 7 over all
RLL33
The 7 didn't do it for me. Prefer the Black by far.
Romaro-Slut
i have both the 7 and the 11 now in my bag The 11 is definitely has a deeper face than the 7. It suits me as i like to tee up. Steven is right, you need to swing fully to get the best out of the 11. When you hit the sweet spot, the feel and the distance is very rewarding The 7 has a shallower face and a smaller head at 445cc. i have it on the blue Yamazaki speed shaft and the loft at 9.5deg. I have no problems launching it and the YAmazaki shaft is smooth as silk. The 7 sounds slightly louder and i love the feel of how the ball bounces off the face for a mid to low ball flight
Mjr. D
So not worth the upgrade if you want ultra low/low with accuracy it seems... I guess I'll stick with the Zy-11, maybe, maybe try the new Maxima even though they don't make it in 8.5 (9.5 is the lowest loft) and the new one has it's weight positioned even further back so I presume higher launch and perhaps the Epon 105... I've heard it is is very very long and good. Thanks for the feedback guys.
Romaro-Slut
The ZY-11 is already a very low launching head. Perhaps a mid kick or mid to high kick shaft can help keep the ball flight down. I personally find the 7 a tad higher launching than the
shacco
I personally don't find the ZY-11 to be low launching at all. If anything it launches mid/high for me. So good to know that the ZY-7 would launch higher. And by the way, ZY-11 is also 445 cc.
+TourSpecGolfer
The ZY-7 doesnt actually launch any higher to me, we seem to be making this up because the face isnt as triangular and deep as the 11.. Even Kazuhiro-san owner and designer and Yamazaki-san both who I talk with say they have the same launch angle head vs head. Always remember in golf 1 mans opinion can differ from another for so many reasons. some people think the 7 is foamed based on feel while its not, some think its the loudest tin can ever, some think its perrrrfect! same with the Blackout some love some hate. Thats the shitty thing about the interwebs and golf gear you dont know till you know.
Romaro-Slut
This confirms my thoughts The 11 seems so deep face from the naked eye but i guess there are many variables involved. i have not put in enough games for a conclusion. Also both the heads have different shafts on them
Staxxx
I love the feel and sound of the ZY-7. I cannot compare it with the ZY-11 because I never did shaft it up. However, the shape of the ZY-7 is awesome and it looks very stealthy. I find it a medium height launcher and enjoy hitting it.
PADMA
I have the z7 with 7 d shaft and the Black with TRPX air , for me I like more the black
Staxxx
An explanation and comparison to understand your statement would be nice. What is your swing like? Why is one better for you? I sold my Black in one day. It was one of the most difficult heads to get airborne. The ZY-7 is so much easier to launch for me and equally as long. I suppose it is all a matter of feel at the end of the day, which is very individual. I never had any love for the JBeam feel and sound till the ZY-7. Haovictor
I have both Zy 11 and Blackout. The blackout is with a 2015AAA. It is by far, the longest driver I've ever had. ( As long as the non-conforming Ryoma S.T. ) Most time, if I hit Zy11 onto the sweet spot, the face gives me a very good reaction, but Blackout feel very nothing at all. The result is the ball from blackout is always 15 yard further. I am not sure if I really want to try Zy7. I have several good members and friends confirm that blackout is much longer. Mjr. D
I can't imagine anything being 15 yards further than the ZY-11. What's your swing speed and what loft were you playing in the ZY-11?
Haovictor
My SS is from 98-105. Say Average 100. They both at 10-10.5. BTW, I will try ZY7 soon. LOL. Just bought one.
Haovictor
Belive or not, the same thing happen to Epon 105 (9.5). Every time I felt like I hit dead sweet spot on 105 with great face reaction, but still Blackout is longer. It can be effected by shafts. I have 2015 AAA 60S on ZY11, and Bangvoo 80T on Epon. While, all the time, I carry two bags, and hit 3-4 shots each driver at the same tee. Maybe the 50S increase my SS.
Mjr. D
Interesting. Don't quote me but I believe the ZY-11 is designed for a Japanese Long Drive competitor and I think to get the most out of it it takes SS more in the range of 115+. I think the black is the more user friendly head. What's your overall take on the Epon 105? Good head? Feel? Long?
Haovictor
105 is by far the best feeling head among all theses names. I honestly did not see this is a crazy low spin head (as member's opinion in other topic). But definitely one of the best Epon heads. I personally like it a lot. For distance, it is pretty decent. I will take it over ZY11, but not blackout.
Haovictor
Just realize this topic is about ZY7, not Jbeam comparation. Sorry for going too far.
Mjr. D
No no this is all good, the more feedback the better. Anyone else care to chime in?

You do not need even a 100mph to get everything out of it, that just depends on your shaft. The black out is actually the more demanding head. Go with the new blackout 535 if you want a blend of forgiveness and distance. We sell many drivers and we also sell a decent amount of Jbeams so I get to hear lots of feedback. The people who love any clubs often luck out with the right shaft off the start and this is the case with Jbeam as well. Guys who go AAA and 7D tend to be blown away. Right now I'm seeing 7D + 2016 Maxima Combo as the golden ticket and for you Mjr D. The V with handpicked lowest loft and a 7D shaft that goes very low and reduces spin + battles your bad shot is a good possibility.
