Hendrik Stenson inspired 3 wood

I love my driver substitute.....a Baldo Brassy 13.5* shafted with a Roddio, which I hit on several holes on our course here.  In fact yesterday went out and played without my driver on a 6,800 yard course and it worked great! It's about 20 to 30 yards shorter than my driver but never leaves the fairway.

Looking for ideas for a Stenson- inspired 3 wood; what are some  JDM head and shaft combo ideas?        Maybe JBEAM TF in 13.5 degrees, what shaft to make a monster 3 wood that a 10 handicapper can hit?

Thanks

So you basically want a FW you can hit off the tee and get great distance.

a few things:

- shaft is a huge part of this equation.
- face depth and size of the FW's head is of vital importance,  too shallow and your screwed,  too deep and (for most) it's not as versatile off the deck.
- material of the face,  imo stainless steel will not give you the distance you will require something a bit more thin and flexy
- Ask yourself if this is a dedicated FW club and you have a spot for it in the bag along with a 3 wood off the deck because the length,  specs, face depth and material would be different for a tee box bomber.

Thanks for the great ideas guys.     Chris, your points totally make sense. I think titanium head is the way to go for this and and high modulus shaft for launch and dispersion control.      But the ultimate question is bag setup:    does this club relegate the driver to just a few holes per round, and then how do I squeeze in a 16-17 degree club to hit off the deck?     Oh well fun "ho" problems!

I carry a driver (9.5 to 10.5), the 3 wood for only off the tee on tight holes and a Zodia OZ 18* off the deck.

The problem I have is I also like to play four wedges (PW, 52, 56 and a Frog's Leap 64* with which I seem to hole out several times from bunkers). If you play a standard 3 wedge set up then there is no problem configuring the bag.

My scores have never been lower since using the  driver only when it is safe to bomb it (about 3 holes each half) and using the 3 wood on the other par 4s and 5s.

Hope that helps.
