bjp1
I recently reshafted my beloved Cleveland Launcher 400 with a Speeder 652 Tour Spec (nice, new graphics). I have a 93-95mph SS. I play anywhere from an R to S, depending on the weight/torque of a shaft. Well, I hit the stock stiff Launcher shaft exceptionally well and long. But, I had an opportunity to get the 652TS for a great price. I played the US 652 before with success. I take this club to the range this morning, and out of 50+ balls, I hit only 1 straight. The other shots were high hooks. I swapped out my other drivers to see if it was my swing, and it wasn't. Could this shaft be too soft, or too much torque? If it is too soft, how much should a tip? Or with that help at all? HELP!!!
dadriver
I play a 652 and have a higher swing speed (108) and make a fairly agressive move on the ball. I don't have problems with hooks with this shaft I've also have played the predessor to the 652, the 661. No hooks. Now...my combo does seem to EASILY produce nice draws where usually I don't expect them; they are truly draws and not baby hooks. I guess I can envision that if you already have a hooking problem the 652 can exacerbate it.
VokeyMan
dadriver what flex are you playing and how much is it tipped?
bjp1
dadriver, The draw and hook are not in my bag of swings. I normally play it straight to fade. So this is extremely unusual. I didn't have this problem with the 652 in a previous club. So, my thought is that this shaft is too soft for my swing.
+TourSpecGolfer
I have a 652 stiff flex in a MR23 9.5 and also had it in a MacTec NV3 its an awesome shaft very user friendly as are all the lower number modeled Fujikura's. No hook problems but I was losing distance with this shaft, I like a shaft in the low 60s grams. I usually get a higher ball flight with the lighter shafts but what i wanted was a more penetrating ball flight so tried the 584HK which is Fujikura Japans awesome new high kick light weight shaft. The 584HK did the job in that department but i wasnt getting the distance i knew I could get from the perfect shaft for my swing. Enter the Graphite Design Tour AD W60 and If ya got a hook problem try the Tour AD I-65 I even put Tour AD M85s in my Fairway Woods and so far only great success over using only Fujikura shafts.
