shokosugi
Hi Everyone, I'm a new member here and I'm so glad to be part of it. You guys make me drool when you're talkin about your clubs (real clubs). Anyway, I'm in the market for the best driver and irons. So, here I'm welcoming any recommendation. I'm a 10 handicapper and currently using: honma 400rf (10, stiff) driver TM Vsteel 3 and 5 wood TM rac LT with Rifle shafts Cleveland RTG wedges 56 and 60 Titleist SC Platinum newport mid slant 2 Right now I'm looking at 3 brands that I like but not sure if they're good: Honma TM-503 or AP-502 TourStage V-IQ driver and irons MacGregor NV3 driver and irons Thanks in advance....... FAQ
Welcome to the forum. I'm sure Chris (Tourstagegolfer) will chime in on this. Personally I would recommend to go and hit them all. Try them out. You have the great advantage of being able to play a non-conforming club. I would have kept both the TourStage X-Drive 390 and the TourStage MR-23 if I could have had them in a higher loft and been conforming. I'm very happy with my Gemini right now, but I'm always looking..
shokosugi
Wow, only 1 reply!! Thanks FAQ, well after alot of research and talking to Chris I have considered the following clubs as the best: (by word of mouth and reading). Driver: TS V-IQ non-conforming driver are long when compared to most of the popular clubs today. (using a robot machine) Woods: TS V-IQ 3 and 5 woods I like and has thesame result as the driver. Irons: Gauge Design CB's I think are the best right now. I was looking at TS X cb's and V-IQ's but after what Chris said that they're mass production in Taiwan. It was a no brainer for me there. WEDGES: Haven't done research yet. Putters: Gauge Design GAA1are my TOP 3 choices. I know you guys have alot of input please reply...... TTLam
I think the best wedges you can get, in terms of value and customization are Scratch wedges. Just contact Fairwayfred (Ari) on this forum and he'll help you create your very own wedges.
murch
Welcome, I agree with the wedge choice from TTLam{ there is no other choice} Scratch are unique. As far as the irons:- Don't be concerned with TourStage being massed produced, the forgings are by "Endo" in Thailand and Endo do alot of production for a reason. { one of the best} If I was to choose a forging then you would be hard pressed to look past TourStage, Miura and of course "Scratch" {Ishihara}. I am not personally familiar with Gauge design's {Japan} offerings at this time but if their putters are anything to go by then they would also be magic. Also seriously consider Nakashima drivers, Fairway and utility, they are not another component head they are as good and better then most any retail offering, IMO Nak's will really kick on as OEM if they continue this level of production. They are not inexpensive but if you can spec them up for your game then you will have the best there is. Your putter choices are great, Gauge, Gold factory, Bettinardi and limited others are all of the highest quality. Hope my opinion is of some assistance, good luck with any purchases, please have them FITTED to your game where ever possible and happy golfing. Regard, Chris
