AKFLY
What is everyones opinions on shaft pullers? Im looking to buy a new one and Im curious to see what type of pullers are favorites around here and what the pros and cons of each are. Mitchell? RK? Golfsmith? Thanks, G I use a homemade spreader that costs me $20. Someone posted this a while back. I would like to get a nicer one however. You cannot go wrong with anything Mitchell - the stuff just breathes quality.
ManaMan
I bought the gear jb's, the shaft puller works well, and is easy to operate one handed, while you hold the heat gun. I've pulled over 20 shafts, including drivers and irons. For the money, it's a good deal. The spine finder works pretty good also. You could make your own out of PVC pipe and bearings and save money, but I went the easy route and bought it. I'm glad I bought it, saves me money everytime I do my own work, and has paid itself back, at what they charge around here for the same work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW
Breal
the mitchell is probally the best and sweetest but for a high price the Golsmith ones are real good for like a 120 bucks i have one and it does the job great..
Epuller
Mitchell is what I use regularly. It is a great puller. Very easy to use and will put alot of pressure on the head. I do not like the rubber shaft grip. I am wondering after time if it will come off, and then what. I have no fear of that happening anytime soon, but after 10 years...I suppose that it will have paid for itself many times over.
ericm007
I saw a fairly cheap, but what looked to be a very functional shaft puller on Ebay the other day. Should be able to do a search and find it. Around $40 or $45 dollars I think. Eric
cclaeys
I have tried several and as a hobbyist you shouldnt have to spend more than $150 to get a really good one that is reliable and has some levearge. That being said I would recommend the Kennedy puller. It is pretty simple looking, but is very effective. In the same price range is the Golfsmith, I dont think the shaft clamping mechanism works as well on this as the one on the Kennedy does. yogi
Which model of the Mitchell puller? I like the cheaper unit in the catalog because it pushes the club head off instead of pulling it off, like the golfsmith unit. I have used the golf smith unit and it seems to get close to scratching the head on long pulls like the titleist heads. I want it to push it off so theres nothing for it to get hung up on. What do you think? www.mitchellgolf.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=1183

Art
I have the Kennedy shaft puller and it is an excellent tool. Never had a problem using it and it is heavy-duty and high quality. TourGolfJeff
You really can't go wrong with the Mitchell pullers - or any of their products for that matter. They are well made, do the job and last forever. They may be a bit more expensive on the front end, but it is money well spent in the long run. yogi
I have been looking for a used puller for a while. If anyone knows of someone getting rid of something in nice shape, please let me know. Thanks, Grant

pharmd
I recently upgraded to an Auditor puller, may still be on sale at Golfsmith, very nice smooth puller with good tacky clamping mech. for shaft and preload to give release as soon as epoxy temp rises. Had a combo shaft extractor-gripping machine (gextr in Golfworks) that was adequate for hobbyist work, not large volume. Will also be selling for 1/2 price I paid for it.
