Posted June 10, 200420 yr can boring out the driver hosel and then shimming one side of it so it sits open work effectively ?,,,thanks guys tony
June 10, 200420 yr it can be done,, it kills all warranty on the golf head and is tricky since there is'nt much metal to work with in the begining.. ken
June 10, 200420 yr Author thanks, would you bore out the entire inner hosel or try to bore out the left side( nearer the crown/face,does it change the effective loft or lie angle ? thanks tony
June 11, 200420 yr It can only be done w/ a carbite reemer and if you have enough hosel thickness. Joe
June 11, 200420 yr tony, yes drill the left side out-- the effective loft will be changed some - not sure of percentage but in most cases the loft will go up.. it's trial and error my fiend - best way to descride the workings of driling a headout..
June 11, 200420 yr thanks, would you bore out the entire inner hosel or try to bore out the left side( nearer the crown/face,does it change the effective loft or lie angle ? thanks tony To get an Open face angle, The top of the hosel should tilt toward to the face/slightly heel and the bottom of the hosel should tilt the opposite ( back/slightly toe ). However, i found this technique a bit harder to keep the shim at the right spot when you push it in when glueing. What i do ussually reem the hosel to an open angle w/ 350 reemer ( or even 370 if i have to ) and make a home made shim that cover all around the it to make sure it'll fit tightly. The other problem is that your ferrule will not sit flush on top of the hosel. You either have to trim it to the right angle or melt it to get the right tight fit on top of the hosel. If you want to get it right is not quite simple IMO. Good luck! Joe

If i don't use shim and lean my shaft into the head as to your above instruction without boring . then epoxy glued it . will it work ?? Any additional stress on shaft ?? hope you understand my illustration .
