The balance between driver and iron

ya that happens a lot to me, i find tho if i slow down mentally and take everything shot by shot the round works a lot better, also having confidence over the ball with your irons is something you have to learn on the driving range not the golf course, more practice never hurts

This little anomaly stems from the your swing plane.

When you find the correct swing plane with your irons, it will not work for the driver so you need to adjust your swing plane to it. The reverse, then is also true.

I've found that the club can show you the proper plane on which to swing. At address, if you take the club back on the target line with your hands and arms then stop at 8:30 or 9:00 o'clock. Then without changing your spine angle, turn til your hands are at the top of the swing. This should be the correct plane.

One of the best resources on this and other fundamentals is Ben Hogan's Five Lessons. The illustrations there are most helpful.
