  1. How does the MD compare to the YS-Q? Has anyone here tried both shafts?
  2. Thanks, Forte! I love the feel of it and yes, the face does seem to be pretty hot but the stock shaft seems to be spinning a bit much for me. Well, I'm playing again tomorrow. I'll give it another go before I decide which way to go.
  3. I'm seriously considering picking up a 445. I hit my cousin's a few times and just bombed the heck out of it. Even outdrove my bigger, longer G10 on a couple of occasions. So I went and picked up a demo from the local distributor and had a less than stellar first round with it. To be fair, we played in extremely high humidity, medium wind and some rain and distance was hard to come by then. But I felt strangely out of sync with the 445. Perhaps the shaft's just too light for me? I have a Diamana BB 83s in my G10 (D5 swing weight), should I get the GD MD-7 stiff-flex instead? On a more shallow note, how does the color combo of the 445 with the MD look? I really like the red/black paint scheme of the 445; it looks so sexy. Thanks in advance, for the advice.
  4. Just got to hit this beauty yesterday at the Callaway new product launch. Unfortunately, the only shaft they had was a 55 gram lightweight so it was hard to come to any conclusions. Didn't really have good feel for the head during my swing. Sound is quite loud at impact; seems like it should send the ball a long way. I'd like to hit it again with a heavier stiffer shaft in it.
  5. Happy Holidays, everyone! Thanks to all, and to Chris in particular, for making this such an awesome site.
  6. Great pics, as always! RSI stands for Rossa Soft Insert.
  7. About time they came up with something to replace the 001. Why no 460 version, Chris?
  8. Just want to share a story on the playing blades vs plaver's cbs. One of my buddies plays to a scratch. This guy is an animal! He swore by his MP-32s (I know some of you don't consider this a blade, but humor me) until I got him to try my MP-60s. He went out and shot his next 6 rounds in the 60s! Now I can't get my 60s back! I agree completely with plus1, we can all use forgiveness and positive results will change your mind about how a club looks very quickly indeed.
  9. I hope it'll be easier to hit than the previous X-Drives. I love the performance but want something less demanding.
  10. As a former blade user, I can relate to the comment about the toplines. But you know what? I just don't see them when I'm playing. The new player's cavity backs are so good, it won't matter. Those clubs look awesome, Chris. Looking forward to the outcome.
  11. Gorgeous driver with a premium shaft to boot! Spoke to the local distributor, no word if the driver and irons will make it out of Japan.
  12. Haven't gotten it yet. I'm looking at a 9* in the stiff flex. Need to know what the shaft feels like at impact. I've learned to like a little kick at the bottom of the swing from the shaft. I've got that in the NV and the Purple Ice I have in my 3-wood. How does the V-27 play?
  13. The new driver looks pretty good too.
  14. Anyone have experience with the XXIO Hard Spec? I'm getting a really good deal on one and would like to find out what you all think. I'm fussy with my shafts and know nothing about the V27 that comes with it. My ss is around 107 and I'm a swinger more than a hitter. My current driver is 257 cpm a tad lighter than I was used to, but I like the little kick it gives me at impact. Thanks for your assistance.
  15. I feel your pain. Getting up there in age, I made the switch to more forgiving clubs this year. I had just gotten my MP-60s (which I love to death!!) when I lucked out and won a set of G-Field NC-1s in one of Chris' most generous raffles. Both irons are forgiving and workable. The G-fields a tad more forgiving and the 60s a tad more workable. Both are much more forgiving than my old Mizuno blades. I don't think you'll miss your 32s at all.
  16. My partner got a NVG Tour with a Graphite Design PT-7 in it. It's not as loud as the original; in fact it sounds a bit muted. Seems to have some material to dampen the sound a bit. Not bad. Couldn't really tell about the distance the balls went since we were on the range hitting range balls. Will get him on the course so I can hit it there. Ha ha!
  17. The ERC Hot Tour sounds a lot better than the FT-3, too! And you can get it with the exotic shaft of your choice since it's a Japanese market model.

I played two more rounds over the weekend; one with the 60s and the other with the NC-1s. The NC-1s are definitely more forgiving and on pure hits the feel is just as satisfying as the 60s. They don't seem to want for playability either. I played a windy mountain course on Monday and hit knockdowns and punch fades into the greens all day. Distances were exactly what I expected from each club and I really didn't notice any great differences in trajectory. The DG-SL plays like the DG but with much lighter overall weight. It actually had me feeling fresher at the end of the round. I'm really liking both sets; what a dilemma!
  19. Just want to let everyone know that I've finally got the G-Field NC-1 that I won in the last TSG raffle. Many many thanks again to Chis and Jacque for having such a generous contest. Interestingly, my winning the NC-1s coincided with the arrival of my MP-60s from Mastersports, the local Mizuno distributor. The MP-60 came with my beloved TT DG S300. The first few rounds with them were magic. They're so much more forgiving than I thought they'd be. Mizuno definitely has something with the cut muscle design. And the feel is amazing; solid as a bank vault and yet soft as butter when struck well. I expect great things from the NC-1s as well. I had the NC-1s shafted with TT DG SL S300 for lighter overall weight (hey, I am pushing 50!) but similar swing weight and overall balance and topped off with Golf Pride Victory 55 full cord grips. Let me say that these things are like jewelry. They're almost too pretty to hit! You have to see the machining in the cavity to really appreciate the level of craftsmanship. I have friends that've suggested that I hang the NC-1s on my wall since I've got the 60s anyway. I've only got one session at the range and one round under my belt with them. My initial impression is that they're more forgiving than the MP-60s but don't feel quite as soft on perfect hits. Of course, I was coming off a grueling week of laying out the magazine (read total sleep deprivation) and wasn't at my best. I shot 77 in spite of feeling like I was hungover throughout the round so they work just fine, thanks. Trajectory is about the same as the 60s and only slightly higher than my T-Zoid True Forged blades. I'm playing another round with the NC-1s this weekend so I'll have more specific comments then. My heartfelt thanks again to Chris and Jacque for running such a wonderful site. You guys are the best!
  20. Good looking head. Too bad the shaft options are limited, some of those ARMRQ shafts look interesting. I'm glad Honma's back.
  21. With the weight where it is, it looks kinda like the new XXIO driver. Really good looking, I think. Key for this driver is the shaft. I'd like to see some exotic shafts in future Srixon clubs instead of just their in house shafts.
  22. The weights on the MP-003 aren't movable. We had a sample to play with but the shaft was just too soft to form a valid impression. Very expensive in this market. The local distributor won't be importing them.
  23. Since I've got the heads coming, I'm rooting for the G-Fields, too. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these irons. Can't wait to see the results.
