Looks good to me! I remember what she looked like when she first joined the tour. What a difference! No wonder she's kicking ass on the LPGA tour.
  2. Great Pics as alwyas, dude! You definitely da man! Wonder if it'll make retail.

Oh, so the R5 TP will be released to the market? I never knew that. That would be great. When will it comes out? Who's your contact there - Ernest? Mon? Buddy? Jovi Tourspecgolfer broke the news. It was in the Domestic forum. Since we get the same stuff as Japan, we should have it later in the year. Mike

Will wait for retail R5 TP to hit market. It should be cheaper that the tour stuff going around now. Yes, I hit the DFI. I like the head, just can't abide by the shaft. 55 gram Diamana way to light and whippy for me. I really like the shape of the R5TP we've been seeing here. TM's drivers seem to work for me, the TP should have the right shaft out of the box.

Glad you like the DFI, Jovi. Would've been surprised if you hadn't reshafted; Those superlight shafts just don't work with higher swing speeds. Me, I'm waiting for the R5 TP.

    Well said, Patrick.

Thanks for the great post. Was trying to access the piece on Sports Illustrated's website but couldn't.
  8. I agree with Robbie and FAQ. The Comp is far from being a hok machine. Maybe your friend had too soft a shaft in it or dare I dare I say, was swinging bad at that time? Noted. Thanks y'all!

Gotta say I'm looking forward to the R5 TP when it finally hits the market later in the year. As for shafts, it's become hard for me to look past GD. But the new nanotech shafts will certainly get my attention.
  10. Was looking forward to trying the Comp, but a friend whose opinion I respect told me it was a hook machine, now I'm having second thoughts. Anyone else have an opinion on this?
  11. I don't disagree with you re the R5. It's BIG and forgiving. The R5 N is still a bit closed. Also, in this market, the R5 retails for more than the Mizuno or the Ping, the main reason my friends made the choices they did. I'm waiting for the retail R5 TP. That should be a good one!
  12. Uhhh, make that three sub-trends. Forgot to mention composite or multi material drivers. This tech will become more prevalent with large heads allowing manufacturers to move more weight around to control CG location. Emerging nanotechnology will fuel this trend in near future.
  13. Why not buy both? That'd solve the problem. Seriously, I love Mizuno forgings. I've had mine for years and they continue to amaze when I hit them solid. A custom 3 tier set would be the bomb. I also appreciate the appeal of a full on custom set from specialists like Ari or Paul at Blade Golf. I think Ari's antique chocolate finish is wonderful. It's nice for people to walk up to your bag and wonder what you've got in it. The Scratch set would probably play a bit softer, just because the steel they use is softer, but it'd also probably wear faster. If you were concerned about wear, you could just order the satin chrome finish. Might not look as hot as the others, but it's protect the club a tad better. In the end, if I had the where-with-all, I'd really get them both. :money:
  14. I think we can look forward to drivers no smaller than 400 cc with two sub-trends; adjustable weights and 460 cc heads. 460 cc heads have become relatively inexpensive to produce and very forgiving to play. Those with more specialized requirements will continue to seek out drvers like the R7. I've talked a couple of buddies into buying the Ping G2 460 and the Mizuno MP-001 460 with GD YS series shafts (6 for one, a 7 for the other) and they both couldn't be happier. Relatively inexpensive investments, too.
  15. Hit the two back to back at the range. Big differences in forgiveness and feel. 27's much more forgiving. Yes, I think it'd be worth your while to mix sets. The set I dream of is a blend of three sets: 3, 4 iron - MP 27 5, 6 iron - MP 30 7-PW - MP 37 All with offset of MP 37, black finish with white paint fill on M stamp close to toe.

Good to know that they've got a 460 on the way. Since Tiger and Vijay started using 460's, you've got to believe that this is gonna be the way to go with a driver. But 450-454 to 460 is insignificant. I guess you have to cover all the bases and Cobra doesn't want to miss out. Personally, I like the 450 SZ Tour head. That looks like something I could use.

Although fickle and ever changing, My current wish list is either of the following heads: TaylorMade R7XR Cleveland Comp 460 Nakashima 460 Nike DFI+ (getting a demo next week!) With either of these shafts: GD Tour AD (not sure which one yet, leaning towards I-65 or M-65) Accra Tour Accuflex Evolution

Cobra has two drivers that are around that size, although neither is exactly 460 cc. The Comp 454 and the 450 SZ Tour are both a touch under 460 cc and from what I hear, monster long and easy to hit. The 450 SZ Tour is being used by Cobra's long drive team.

Yes! They're locally available and are quite expensive. Nice. They hold the ball up a bit kinda like the brush tees. My friends love em and they last a while. Performance wise, I can't really say I can see any benefits. They sure are pretty, though. No need to worry about them messing up your clubs. I find painted wooden tees are more problematic. Brush tees are the easiest on your drivers but Can't use them for the irons or fairway woods on the tee and they're hard to tee up on dry, hard teeing grounds.

If you want new excitement have your MP-33s bent to the MP-37 specs. The 33s have 1 or 2 degrees weaker lofts, have em adjusted and save yourself some green.
  21. Very informative, Chris! Way to go!
  22. That's gotta be the best looking Callaway iron, ever! Well, at least since the Bobby Jones blades.
  23. Maybe, but 14* of bounce will be a lot for a tight lie.

Although the two other balls in Wilson's new staff line-up are already available here, the TX4 isn't. Will try to find out what's what from the local rep. I'm always looking for new high performance balls.
  25. I read somewhere that the deeper dimples are designed to precisely position the core in the exact center of the ball. I can't remember which site it was on though. Call it old age.
