Guest
Played the driver for the second time today. Very casual late afternoon round on a course where I could let it rip. My initial impressions were inconclusive (refer to prior review thread) but today, I was convinced I made the right decision in buying the club. Alternated between a Srixon AD333 and a Maxfli Revolution Tour (both decent balls but nothing great) as oppposed to the Tourstage X-01 I used to play until today (awesome ball but $$$ !) Distance: distance is not outstanding but, taking into consideration it is a COR conforming face and stated as being 44.5", I don't think you could go much longer. Indeed shorter than my XXIO Twinsole (a rocket launcher) but maybe around 1 club at most. Feel: the more I hit it the more I liked it. Nice solid feel with plenty of feedback. Definitely feels more like a Titleist than a TM but sweeter. This driver is SOLID. Forgiveness: I was pleasantly surprised how forgiving it turned out to be. If your tendency is to miss right (block and/or fade), then this club will be suited to you. The block/fade is my swing fault and this driver just holds the line and/or fades much less than you I have expected. Regardless, it's pretty forgiving both sides and distance loss is not bad on mis**ts. Workability: this club shined in this department. You can hit it any which way you like - high, low, fade, draw on command. The face is extremely consistent over a large area. No worries about ballooning a fade or duck-hooking a draw - I don't need a club to help me make those shots! - so it really inspires confidence. Aesthetics: simply PURE CLASS. Visual balance is amazing, the sole plate is the nicest I have ever seen (yes, it matters to me...), shaft graphics are beautiful and the colour is a dark, muted metallic grey/black. No alignment aid and nothing to distract you from the ball and your swing. To me, it definitely sits square and will do so every single time - a sign of the club's excellent balance. Shaft: GD Tour AD W70 is as good as Chris makes it out to be. Also, having it as standard spec is a real bonus. Even though the stiff CPMs lower than expected, it feels like a true stiff. All in all, an awesome stick. I won't go as far as saying that I won't buy another driver before 2005 but any new driver I may buy will face a tall order trying to replace the Fourteen  If you've considered buying this driver and have a preference for a more solid feeling driver, ala Titleist, then you can't go wrong with this one. Feel free to ask any questions (best via email). Didier

languidcrane
I remember seeing this driver in the pics of the Japanese golf fair and thinking it looked like a great club. I really want to try one.
Guest
So now my driver is set for a while, got my Golds Factory irons and wedges due to ship by the weekend, my Tourstage Airmuscle 2-iron staying in the bag no matter what, and my putter spot still being fought out between the GD Proseries Black M2 CS and Tour Del Mar 3.5 3XB...what I need is to find a 3 wood that plays like the JC371 :o Currently have a XXIO Twinsole 14* (long but don't love it), Tourstage F-ST 3+ (nice club but bored of it), and a Callaway original Steelhead 3+ (still one of the best performers). Chris, how does the Fourteen SP104 look? Didier

Likewise - and since we don't get many demo clubs in HK, I have often purchased on impulse from the US only to be disappointed and vow never to buy without trying first! But I can never control myself :o Didier
+TourSpecGolfer
Chris, how does the Fourteen SP104 look? Â Didier SP104 is an old mans club. Dont do it! its set up for people 40 - 60 uears old. I suggest you try the GD w/ Tour shaft when it comes out in August.

What length is the shaft? 44.5? It definitely seems to protect the right side although that's an observation after only 2 rounds with it. Sticker says 44.5" but I'm not sure how they measure it cuz I took it to the shop and it measured 45"...

Thanks for the tip on the PRGR Duo - just might try it.
