Posted July 22, 200420 yr hey just neeed ur help again i was wondering if changing a set of stock dg s300 shafts from the titleist 704s to project x 6.0s would cause any swing weight difference? im awful when it comes to this stuff lol cheers :-)
July 22, 200420 yr Yes it will cahnge the SW some - ask one of the club builders exactly how much - there are some charts available - the project X shafts are about 5 gms lighter then the DG's - a grip change can also change the SW of a club
July 22, 200420 yr Every 2 gram change is equal to one SW change. I'm showing the S300 at 124g and the Project X 6.0's at 125. So not much of a difference.
July 23, 200420 yr Every 2 gram change in head weight is equal to 1 SW point, not 2 grams in shaft weight. That would mean if you switch from a 125 gram steel shaft in a driver to a 75 gram graphite shaft you would lose 25 SW points.
July 23, 200420 yr From www.swingweight.com - If you put a new shaft in that is heavier or one that has a lower balance point than your current shaft, you will get a higher weight as well. Making clubs lighter is a bit more difficult. You can have the current shaft replaced with a lighter one or you can have some length cut off to make the club shorter. You might not be able to tell the addition of 1 swingweight, but most players can tell additions of 3 or more. A test you can do yourself is to tape a dime to the back of your club. A dime adds approximately 1 swingweight. Most golfers, regardless of their skill level can’t tell the dime was added. Now tape quarter to the back of the club. The quarter adds about 3 points; most players can tell this addition.
