spaceybovine
I'm seeking some info from people that I've tried / played the NS Pro line, in particular the 950's. I'm considering them for both irons and FW's. How do they play? Comparisons with DG's and Rifle's? My SS is 91 coupled with a smooth tempo. Also which flex (S or R) would more suitable? Thank you all!
+TourSpecGolfer
Hey hey, Welcome to TSG! I think the NS pro 950 is a great shaft for your swing speed. You could probably handle a Stiff flex at 91 or a Reg because you are in the middle. The NS pro flex's play sorta soft also. I play 850s in my wedges and 1050's in my Irons every NS pro Shaft I have tried works very well.
Breal
I play the 950's and I love them. I have tried all others in steel and Nippon have the best feel and performance IMO to whatever is out there. I would go stiff, they do play a little soft, but they should play great for you. I have a about 98 to 100 mph and should have X flex but having the stiff has make me smoothed out my swing and I'm thrown darts. Get the shafts Highly recommended, and welcome to TSG. Guest
The NS Pros in stiff are the best feeling steel shafts on the market. The 950s in stiff play on the soft side yet the 1050s in stiff feel a little firmer. Given my smoother tempo and 105ish SS, stiffs work great for me. spaceybovine
Thanks guys. Given your observations and that my first try with the 950's will be in FW's heads, hence heavier than iron heads, I'm leaning towards S flex.
pucci
When you say a ss of 91 etc, this with a 5iron? I am also considering the ns shafts and my ss is 90 for a 5 iron and 112 for driver. I was looking at the 1050 in an X, so am I considering the wrong shaft? Sorry to butt into this thread :D Mark//

With the 950 you will get a little more feel in the head but not much. X flex would be o.k. but you will always have to bring it. I think there like a 10 to 15 gram difference in the two shafts. love2golf
I play the 1050's in extra stiff with 1/2" over length in my irons. I have around 110 mph driver speed with a medium tempo. These have worked out perfect for me. Nippon shafts have the best feeling in the world. I will never use another shaft unless they stop selling them. I thought the extra stiff might be too much but with the extra 1/2", it is just right. I play a stiff 1050 in my wedges for more feel and control. dick
I play the stiff with a Driver swing speed average of about 95. shafts are the best I have played for feel and weight. May tend to kick the ball up higher than DG but never been a problem. I highly recommend them if you can find them. d**k

spaceybovine
Guys! Just to make it clear, the 91 MPH figure is the driver SS. Will it change your recommendations as per proper flex in the NS 950's?

Will it change your recommendations as per proper flex in the NS 950's? I think stiff will work fine for you. Or you could tip a regular to firm. But they do play a little softer than flex. If there is any way you could demo, I highly recommend it. I know Paul at Shreveport Golf has been sending out demo clubs (Miura CB-201's and tournament blades) over at FGI. He sells Nippon shafts. You might want to give him a try.
BostonHack
how much a set runs? 3-pw thx!
spaceybovine
Thanks love2golf. You're right on, I should demo. Problem is, I'm located in Montréal. It is impossible. That's why I'm seeking for you guys advice before committing into this "blind date". BTW, that would be for a reshaft on a nice set of KZG Evolutions in a gorgeous satin finish. I can't wait to reshaft and finally enjoy them (right now in UST Proforce 95 S w/jumbo Winn grips...Yark!!!)

Mike
Oh well  I hate stepped shafts . Guess it's back to the old drawing board as they say . Maybe will give the TX Tours a try instead .
BostonHack
The question is... are these better than the other premium shafts...steel shafts...Px? The price is upthere with the Px and people praise those a lot...most do at least.
xxio
Oh well  I hate stepped shafts . Guess it's back to the old drawing board as they say .Maybe will give the TX Tours a try instead . TX Tours are stepped. Rifles have their steps inside going lengthwise.
