Srixon Irons

I've played the 201 extensively and demo the 302.

Appearance: 201 slightly larger from heel to toe than the 302 with more offset. Toplines to me seemed very similar.

Feel: They both feel good at impact, atleast for me the 201 had more of a muted feel when compared to the 302

Forgiveness: They are both pretty forgiving but with the larger head and slightly more offset the 201 is slightly more foregiving.

Workability: I'm not a big worker of the ball but I had no trouble moving it right or left. Hopefully some one has more insight into this.

A side note about the two the sole design are very different between the two. 302 has a more chambered sole which more players prefer. I don't know how to exactly explain the sole design of the 201 except to say that it wider than normal. Also the 201 has a sharper leading edge design which for some promotes digging while the 302 has a more round leading edge.

Hope this helps.

At the suggestion of a friend, I went to forged irons for more accuracy. Being a Dunlop Japan ho and using new XXIO for a couple of years, I had to go with Srixon. I am NOT a good evaluator of forged irons as I have nothing to base my comparison on. But, I am very happy with my I-302's with DG S-300's. Hope you try them. BTW, in doing my homework prior to getting them, I couldn't find a bad review from anyone who has used/tried them.

It seems like you may have been confused. Everything you said about the 302's is an exact desription of the 201's (smaller head, cambered soled, etc...). Maybe you mixed up the numbers of the respective sets?

Anyway...to answer the original poster:

I still have a set of the I-201's and feel they are one of the best all around forged cavity backs made. I was never a fan of the 302's (too big), but they also have that nice Srixon-feel. Very underrated and to quality.

I have just recently sold my 201's but before doing so I compared them to a set of 302's that one of my playing partners was using. From address they looked almost identical. Couldn't really tell any difference between offset, heel/toe length or topline. To me the only real difference was the weight in the cavity. Different weighting and finish. I found the 302's to hit slightly higher than the 201's (302 with S300 and 201 with rifle 6.0). Either way I think they are great feeling irons and very forgiving.

recently demoed some i-302's and gotta say they were very nice...for the right player.

i think they're geared more towards people who tend to take large divots looking for good feel with adequate forgiveness and minimal offset.

they really do feel as good as most other forged cavity backs i've tried.

for reference, i play cobra ss forged irons.

the 302's seem to just straddle the line of player's cavity and game improvement irons.

if i wasn't so satisfied with my cobras, i'd snap up a set of 302's in a heartbeat.

I got to try out the 302 with NS pro 950 shaft.. absolutely soft as butter! I want to get them bad, but i think it was more the shaft than the head. Never had a chance to hit th NS pro shafts before. Where can I get those shafts for my mizuno?

You can get Nippon Steel shafts from Chip Usher in Savannah,GA.

His email is [email protected]

I tried the I-302s with S300 and loved the heads, but did'nt like the shafts.

Like you, I would love to have a set of the 302s with NS-PRO 950 stiff.
