Maverick
Could you guys advise what you suggest between these two? They seem so similar..
golfdr
The Fourteen is a great club - but I would consider looking into the SYB which is basically the same club but 1/2 price and the new TM driving irons. Chris has them for sale now.
Golf-Raider
How are these driving irons off the deck? Which is more versatile? thank you in advance for any replies.
golfdr
Well - I have not tried the TM yet but I have heard they are great. I do not like many of the hybrids since I hook them all. The Fourteen 858 was a great club - I could hit it off the deck or tee equally but I also play a Mizuno 2 iron so irons are not a problem for me. The SYB is a clone so to speak of the Fourteen and is equivalent. If you like irons - go this route or try the new TM driving irons - if you like woods better - highly consider the Hogan - it is really a good stick. hornyjuan
If you decide to go the Fourteen route I'd suggest the 858 over the 660. Feels much more solid and goes a tad farther than the 660. The profile on the 660 is a bit smaller. I currently am playing the rac driving irons and they are great. The 19* takes my 3 iron out of the bag and is terribly easy to hit. Trajectory is mid-high, feels pretty solid and gets the job done. Probably not as easy to hit off the deck as say a mid-rescue but its definetly a go to club. The Hogan CFT and TM Rescue mid are also awesome clubs if your looking more for a wood looking utility. As far as iron-like utility clubs the TM Rac Driving iron is hard to beat.

I agree with Juan about the 858 over the 660. Same experience here. If you are going to go with the Utility woods, you might consider the TourStage F/UT's. the face is very square and the weight is perfect. Very solid. The TM TP Rescue's might be good for you too, but the TM non-TP's are hook encouraging with the closed face. Hogans are about square. Sonartec is another good one for a Hybrid too. dorkman53
I had a Fourteen Hi-660 a year or so ago, and personally I liked it as a driving iron, but couldn't hit it consistently off the fairway. I prefer fairway wood-based hybrids over iron based, though, so my experience is biased. I've tried a LOT of hybrids over the past several years (Taylormade Rescue Mids, Kasco K2K, original Mizuno Fli Hi, Jackaroo II, Callaway Big Bertha 2002, SMT Solitaire, Precept 2-EZ, the Nakashima hybrids, and the Hogan hybrids), and the Hogans have given me the most satisfactory overall results from the fairway and off the tee. They set up square, and my understanding is that they are fairly neutral in their internal weighting, too. All I know is that I hit them straighter than anything else I've tried, with very predictable distances. The fact that the Hogans are also very reasonably priced is an added bonus.
