  1. Oh yeah baby, clean and classic the only way to roll...BB
  2. Thank you, I've worked really hard at this crazy game for many years, I'm getting older (42) and really feel maxed out on my swingspeeds so distance "maintenance" will need to come from well fit equipment and improved ball stricking. I did absolutely agree with your initial post, many people struggle with the transition between fairway to driver. It always seems like mid-cappers either have one or the other but seldum confident with both. Another topic to debate all together but I think the average player needs to consider more loft, no need to basically have 2 drivers in the bag, why stuggle off the deck. I strongly suggest giving 4 woods a shot, the shafts tend to be shorter (here we go again!) and they are much easier to launch and control. Also it's my personal opinion that the current trend in equipment (clubs, shafts and balls) is spin reduction (not only backspin but sidespin as well) making added initial launch a must to reap the rewards in design...BB
  3. I hit my 4 wood 255ish and my driver 265i-275sh carry and I'm pretty maxed out for my numbers. I play the tips at both home courses from 6800-7100yrs depending on tees and I'm plenty long for the terrain. I play between a 2-4 handicap depending on putting and my numbers are 108-110mph swingspeed with driver, 1900-2100rpm's depending on equipment with a 13* initial launch angle, all in all not that bad however because of my spin numbers I can actually increase initial launch to almost 16* without loosing roll, this is why my 4 wood is long...BB
  4. All excellent feedback and I will add one more thought, this game is one heck of a lot easier from the fairway, if you add bad distance let's say 20yrs into the tall grass next to the woods it will not help the scorecard very much and last I checked the scorecard doesn't lie. Chris fire me a PM with driver options in the 2011 lineups, one's which offer 10 degree heads or even greater in custom trim and I will purchase one for sure. I have a number of solid drivers moving forward including US Burner 2.0 TP, Tileist 910 D3 and Callaway Razr Hawk Tour to review against, if I find that a smaller headed driver benefits me vs these modern 2011 larger headed models (interesting that not all of them are 460cc's) that's all the proof I need. I would be happy to do a full driver shootout with pictures...BB
  5. My verdict on "bigger is better" still remains to be seen, I really want to try a MODERN well engineered smaller head with many of the features found in larger volume drivers before I pass ultimate judgement. I realize that shaft technology has bridged the gap quite a bit and maybe a larger profile is indeed the way to go but I'm a tactial creature and need to find this out for myself. Another MAJOR arguement for a smaller driver with a shorter shaft is uniformity in the bag, the progression from hybrid to fairway is smooth then out comes this 45-46inch toaster and it simply doesn't jive. I will site modern fairway woods as a perfect example, I can peel my 152cc 42.5' 16.5* Exotics 4 wood darn near as far as my driver with far greater consistancy. Now you are telling me that 2 more inches of overall shaft length and 200cc's plus in volume can not accomplish even more?? As Chris has mentioned, there's a reason the Jspec brands are offering there touring pro's these smaller options, my guess is ball speed, consistancy and feel...BB
  6. Yamaha driver address pics would be sweet, if Yonex has a new players iron those would be cool to see as well...BB
  7. Yes the Egg Spoon driver would be INCREDIBLE! PRGR would be a perfect fit to introduce sub 400cc in this market. I personally think many many golfers would benefit and fall in love with a smaller driver and shorter shaft, they feel wonderful. I hope that maybe a few of these drvivers mentioned make it into the Proshop, I for one would love to see the Yonex...BB
  8. I was just thinking, could you imagine a 390cc PRGR Egg Spoon driver with a 44' shaft, tell me that beast wouldn't perform...BB
  9. No flaming here but I would like to hear your explanation as well, I think (I now) his comments are correct...BB
  10. You got it, thats absolutely spot on! The golf business continues to try and refine a flawed design, let's shift gears and move this cosmic circus back into the ring...BB
  11. The marketing behind 46 inch plus driver shafts is totally bogus, I don't care how tall somebody is it's very difficult to control shafts at this extreme length, I'm vertically challanged as well and my drivers never stretch past 44.5' if i can help it...BB
  12. I'm excited to hear that 380cc's is making a comeback, it's very smart and in modern trim with hot faces and new materials I would argue superior. Shorten the shaft and you have a bonified contendor, think Mizuno 300s on protein shakes, oh I could only imagine how AWESOME they feel...ok I want one NOW! BB
  13. While testing has proven the optimal size for clubhead and ball speed is something in the range of 390cc's there's no getting around the loss of consistancy on off center hits. Having said this if the industry mananged to produce a small model with a hot face let's say 80% of it being sweet spot theres a good chance the better ball stricker could potentially see advantages. Another fact regarding smaller heads is much less stress due to shaft defamation, one of the early problems with larger 460cc heads was the stress it placed on shafts as the center of gravity moved away from the tip of the shaft. It was proven that very small incremental movements away from the shaft actually created abnormally high pressures far greater than that of smaller cc heads. This is what started the great shaft trends we see today with carbon fiber overlaps to reinforce the tip areas of the modern shafts in an effort to rein in these tremendous forces. For the better player end result of using a MODERN smaller volume head under 400cc's could be more consistancy (less shaft defamation) and increased ball speeds...BB
  14. Exactly , in the meantime stop at the local auto parts store and purchase ScratchX, this product will clean that mess up pretty darn well....BB
  15. www.continentalgolf.net; 1(800)544-7128, these guys are absolutely fantastic, ask for factory finish and you will never know it was done, serious quality and very responable suprisingly. No need to pull the shaft either, all done shaft in, very cool. I just had them do my Exotics and both 909H hybrids in matte white and they look MINT! Think satin or matte black next time, PIMP that Egg...BB
  16. I have always been a huge advocate of Nippons for ultra high quality, stability and buttery smooth feel however the newcomer KBS has come on quite nicely. I recently shafted my 2011 gamers with a set of very limited tour only prototype satin KBS stepless shafts, yes I said satin and stepless!!! For those who didn't know the designer (and owner I believe) of KBS shafts also designed the origional satin Rifle Project X shafts. While I found the KBS Tour model a very capable player these prototypes have a smoother and more refined feel, good stuff. Look for these to release sometime late first quarter 2011...BB
  17. To update my previous post yes PRGR will honor my custom spec request, I'm sure the added weight of the Fubuki Ax F75 (76grs) helps. I'm really excited about this club, it's the most money I've ever spent on a fairway wood by far so let's hope she lives up to the hype!...BB
  18. I did indeed order my desired setup (42.5'/D3) however I'm not sure yet it my request will be honored. If not then yes I will have the work done aftermarket, I'm not a fan of lighter swingweights...BB
  19. Wanted to pass on an update, PRGR has indicated to Jacquelyn that no M49's will be offered. For me the next stop will be the Fubuki Ax 75 stiff, let's see how that bad boy works...BB
  20. Thanks guys, not typically a Winn fan but gamed a few of these Lites last season for this very reason and was impressed, very tacky and firm feel. If you choose to try them remember NOT to wash them with soap and water, they recommend rubbing alcohol and it actually works quite well. If you must wipe them off during the round do not use a soaking wet towel as it takes a while for them to dry. All things considered still the best Winn grip available, adds 5 to 6 swingweight pts which is wonderful if you like D3/4 like I do...BB
  21. OK it's official, I placed my order...17* Egg Spoon; M49 Inspec (very difficult to find specs but I did ); 73gr's/3.4* torque. I requested 42.5'/D3 and haven't heard back from the boys yet but I'm making an educated guess (M49 73grs while M46 is only 63grs) and expecting the added weight will assist in nailing my target swingweight. If not I'm kinda diggin the white Winn Lite's (24grs'ish I believe); nice grip and helps a ton in the swingweight dept! Oh well the long wait begins, 4 wks is my guess...BB
  22. For the boys who have re-shafted one of the new EGG Spoons can you please share with us the tip size? I'm getting very close to pulling the trigger and would like to hunt down a replacement shaft as well...thx! BB
  23. You guys are still killin me with all of this EGG Spoon talk, I want a 17* soooooooo bad
  24. PM sent, I have a sweet set but only 5-PW...BB
