  1. read the blog mentioned by the above poster. www.golftoimpress.com there is a section head to head shootout for the best brands of japanese gear. once you have a taste for jspec exotica, its hard to get out. your doing the right thing by doing your research.
  2. these things are impossible to find. if anyone has access to these let me know.
  3. wow i dont even know where to begin.. very fact you stumbled into the site leads me to assume your preference is for Japanese domestic gear? if thats the case you are definetely in the right direction! what is your preference in a cavity back? what is your handycap? pretty much all the brands supo67 are spot on, ofcourse you have your own preferences and different brands shapes will appeal to you more than others.. My advice is , do your research, JDM more expensive than Usa ones so its best to know exactly what you want. Good luck
  4. well in that case you should be ok. you mentioned that the 950sr was way too light. so the 1150s softepped will play heavier and stiffer. the ns1150s will be lighter than your kbs tour, and tt black gold. i personally think the nspro feels the best among your given choices but that is just me. Also do note that from what ive read you really like the feel of the 950s except for the weight. i think the jump to the heavier, beefier ns1150s will be a welcome change. let us know how it goes. good luck!
  5. enjoy the club it will be worth the wait. I have a 17 with the oxik f6m2 and although its a tad light, feels better than the stock shaft. great idea on using the winn lite( did not kow they made em that light) will defintely make your SW adjustments easier!
  6. hardly sensitive, you can softstep them like other brands but keep in mind that they will play a tad softer. what are your current shafts? most people will either soft/hardstep to get the desired flex and not the desired length.
  7. welcome back Jeff! looking forward to your invaluable golf equipment insights!
  8. too tacky for me, first time i tried em i thought there was some glue solvent on the grip. that tacky! getting used to the perfect pro you had on the egg. love the iomics on the GD DI
  9. i agree with fatman, try individual shafts first if you can. i have tried all the super peening models except the brown. i actually gamed the super peening red in my epon 502s and i like them. aside from they are almost exactly the same as the nspro 1150, but i give the edge to the 1150 in the feel department. the reds felt a bit stiff. if you find the 950sr to be to flexible and on the lighter side, go try the 1050 or 1150. but these will be much lighter than the kbs s and black gold regulars.
  10. there are some items that are strictly for the USA domestic market. the protos and the nspro 999 werent available in Japan. i guess its the same for the modus 3. im checking golfsmith now!
  11. it really depends what nspro have learned from their testing/feedback of their prototype shafts. here is a list of the protos and their different weights and models: 2F15 - 124g-125g, Counter Balanced, similar to 1150GH Tour, higher spin and higher launch of the 4 models. 2S14 - 136g-138g, like super peening blues, super heavy, full flex stiffer than X100 in tip, 2 times stiffer in butt section. ORA - 127g-128g, Similar to Super Peening Orance, most popular among tour players, Softer than 2S14's, high launch flat trajectory. C10 - Same weight as DG x100's, 1x more stiff in both tip and butt sections, I think these are the rarest of the tour models. I have gamed 3 of the protos and i used the ORA on my irons and 2F15 on my wedges. so i have a feeling the heaviest version of the modus will be quite similar to the SP blue the mid and lighter versions could be a combo of all. the minute these become available i will be testing the lightest offering of the modus3
  12. great review! you are an nspro guy all the way. i would wait for the modus 3. anyway they have rifle PX satin non flighted in 6.5 and 7.0 check the bay there are many to be had. you can experiment now and have it all sorted by the time you start playing courses in march.
  13. just reshafted my irons with the DG TI s400 shafts havent gamed it yet though. have a set of px 6.0 as back up. the dg spinners are the only wedge shafts i have not tried.
  14. where did you get the set from? usually when i receive a set they are usually within 6 months of each other but it is not uncommon to have those that have different years stamped on the butt. quality will be the same. Nippon shafts have better tolerances compared to their american siblings so i would not worry. what i suspect happened is further up the supply chain, their inventory system was to place all 3 , 4, 5 iron shafts together and so on. when there is an order they just get from the individualy compartmentalized iron bins and so on. your fine :)
  15. i have those older non conforming yamaha inpres drivers. they are in the 196gram head weight so not exactly light. i think they are easy and long with no apparent negatives aside from the fact you cannot use it in pro-am level tourneys
  16. thats the money! i am holding my breath for that one. after 2-3 years of research and development with all sort of nspro protos(red silk screen markings) nspro has apparently learned something and is releasing them to the general public on march. i had the proto ora and sf15 loved them but they were on the heavier side. the 116 version would be ideal for me.
  17. i use px 6 in my irons, i have dabbled with many graphite shafts in my 901. originally tried the machline ut75s but found it a bit light for me. i then shafted it with an oban 85s shaft but did not like that one as well. for steel i tried the KBS hybrid and that too was not to my liking, found it too boardy. also tried the nspro 950 hybrid, felt ok but changed it again after awhile. i currently use the nspro 750s. this by far is the best combo i have found so far for the af901. it is light enough to be a hybrid shaft yet in S flex has a nice kick, i get the right height and trajectory for perfect soft landings. do note that i have a px 5.5 flighted on stanby just in case i get bored. i have had this shaft for over a year but still havent replaced the ns750s. its that good. others will find it on the light side but it works for me.
  18. px especially the newer ones since they were acquired by true temper are notoriously known for having the worst tolerances for flex. i dont know wether they are just careless in labeling the shafts or factory tolerances are just that bad. i think its the former though. we had some clients coming in with px 5s that tested to be actually px 7. so your are lucky if you get a whole set that are flexed exactly as the label says.
  19. there were no px flighted in the satins. only an HL version. MR S, i have a feeling your going to do it anyway to scratch that itch so i will go with you and suggest a change. i however do not suggest you get the SP Orange on the longer irons just go blue all the way. you can maybe soft step them once. whoever told you the blues would be difficult to launch on the miuras may be correct or he could be wrong. he aint the one gaming them you are! so go for it. i know you will like it. have i ever been wrong with the SP's?
  20. been meaning to get one for 3 years always been bumped down the golf list.
  21. i wouldnt go this route. if you are already fine with the driver leave it alone and fix the specs of the Egg. beats having to get used to your driver again. Since you know the culprit is the swing weight of the Egg then add weight to the head, but keep it to an amount that will not affect to much the flex of the shaft. if that doesnt work you will still need that added weight on the head and a change of shaft. changing shaft alone while maintaing the same length will not make you increase 4 sw points.
  22. well only you can answer that question, i wouldnt go changing your shaft for the lob wedge although logically it makes sense , feelwise it wont. i wouldnt bother though. do you like a lighted wedge shaft? if so then go 115. i tried the 125 and they felt good considering they were heavier than what i was used to before but having gamed TT/TC, PX 6.0 nippon protos and now currently the DG Tour issue s400s they seem alright although lighter than the DGs im gaming. @marc, yeah i had the super peening reds. very good shafts and for me superior over KBS. they are heavier lower launching than the ns950. not much difference with the ns1150 although i feel like the reds were more like the type id go drinking with at a bar compared to the 1150s
  23. been there done that route 5x over:) shaft selection can be a mind boggling proposition. sometimes i even bother why i want to change a perfectly feeling shaft that performs and exceeds my expectations??? i had my own love affair with KBS tour but that went south after playing the gaming the nippons. you can even do what i did before , kbs tour 90 in the long irons and kbs tour on the mid to scoring irons. whatever happened to the ns 999 you got from me? those were very good and look like the weight would be something youd be comfortable with being they are variable weighted shafts
