  1. Hi all, Looking for some recommendations in terms of hybrid shafts... Mid-90's driver SS with a fairly aggressive transition. Currently have Romaro Type R heads shafted with Fuji MCH70 and feel like I'm leaving a lot of distance on the table. Ball flight is high but kind of lazy if that makes sense... kind of like the ball gets up quick, but then just floats for a bit and drops way short. The MCH also feel a little on the soft side, and I have a tendency to pull the shot left sometimes as a result. Don't have this problem with the Crazy FW80 shafts I have in my woods. Love those and have an extra that I could try, but feel like the flight is too penetrating and with too much roll to be able to hold a green from 170-200 out. When I find myself with an approach with my S-Yard/FW80 5W combo, I usually aim for the just off the front and hope it doesn't roll off. Looking for something in the 70's gram range with mid-high flight and just enough spin to land softer and hold a green, but without ballooning or robbing distance. Don't like anything that feels like a board. Thoughts on shafts to try?
  2. Someone please pick these up... I'm damn tempted.
  3. Only 3W and 5W at 15* and 18*. I'm having mixed reactions about my 5W at the moment... when it's good its great but when I suck... it doesn't help me at all. Actually find the F3 easier to hit than the XV 5W, but to be fair right now my misses are on the heel side.
  4. Actually your other thread got relocated to the Club Makers subforum... http://forum.tourspecgolf.com/topic/36800-epon-302-head-weight-spec/ But since you've already got the 302's, your fitter will be able to sort it out.
  5. I don't have 302, but I have 502 that you can use for guidance / reference if it will help... AF-502 (in grams): #4 253 #5 259.5 #6 266.5 #7 273 #8 280 #9 287.5 PW 295.5 They should be pretty comparable. I don't have #3, but based on AF-301 it should be around 246.5g.
  6. Damn... Every Modart club pic that has been posted so far is pure golf porn :)
  7. Think we need some guidance on what to look out for. Some of these are scary good...
  8. So what's replaced this one? Thought it beat out like 7 others... :)
  9. Sign me up! Been itching for a ute revamp in the bag, and was seriously considering pulling the trigger on the Romaro Type R's... But now I'm not sure :)
  10. Do you know if its gotten any better in Atlanta? I'm supposed to fly in Monday morning. Beautiful spot BTW.
  11. Damn... If that doesn't go through I'll take it. :)
  12. Hasn't been on another site he's been known to frequent since July 27 either. In any case, hope it works out for you guys.
  13. Hmm... thanks for chiming in Chris. This forum as always is great (and horrible) for promoting thought. The Crazy 435 was on my list of things to try in the future as well... little hesitant due to some reports of the more unforgiving nature. I need all the help I can get. =) Back to the Maxima though... based on T's initial write up, I thought the Maxima was supposed to play a little stiffer in the tip as compared to the D1. Regardless, all feedback indicates starting with a mid kick (for me) and going from there. Thanks!
  14. I have a Maxima 10.5 on the way... likely more mental than anything, but notice I get better results pairing a high launch head with a mid kick shaft than the other way around. To that end, based on your write up the WBQ or LY02 sound like the best place to start. In all honesty the D1/TJ46 is a great combo, and I can hit a high % of fairways with it but it definitely plays more of a safety driver role... I'm getting higher spin than optimal (no roll), and the shaft feels a little loose in that head (maybe due to the hosel height/length). Agreed on the 460ZR... I'll never let that head go, just because of the feel. The Roddio W-6BA may not be the best match-up with it, so once the Maxima is firmly settled I may find a CB46 for this one. =)
  15. Great writeup and very insightful wmclarenf1... I was particularly looking forward to your reviews as we seem to have similar preferences in driver/fw/hybrid head and shaft combos and swing speeds. You've given me a good idea of where to start in my trials. Hmm... I have an LY-02 6.2 and 6.7 that I was planning on trying with the Maxima, but now on the lookout for a WBQ55 as well. =)
  16. Hi marmaduk, Check out Jeff at Fore The Golfer in Markham (Toronto). He's the authorized Epon dealer in Canada. Drop him a line or give him a call beforehand though to make sure he has what you want to try out.
  17. Hmm... I know you've spoken before about not quite liking the feel of the 502's... what else do you like more about the other 3 as well?
  18. Awesome write-up and pics T. One question... A lot of debate has been had over the past months re: VG3 vs Onoff Forged vs Yamaha XV Forged, with the Onoff usually winning in general consensus. How would you rank the 2012 VG3 in this mix? Would you reco this over the Onoff now?
  19. Epon Yamaha Mizuno PRGR Ping Granted, there's lots I have yet to try...
  20. Onoff makes a decent stand bag... biggest issue I have with most JDM stand bags is the strap though. Those single strap bags don't seem to work very well... maybe its just me. Another vote for the Sun Mountain Four5. Added benefit is that with the 14 dedicated slots, its very easy to tell if you have all your clubs or not (helps in not leaving clubs at the hole/range). ;)
