  1. They TSG demos for blog and demo sale? If so, I'll call dibs on the 925... Do you know if/how much the shaft adapters will sell for?
  2. For me, it is a 40 minute drive(one-way) and ~$40 to get a driver shafted by a skilled builder. Say I wanted to try 3 shafts, that gets time consuming and expensive. Not to mention risk to head and shaft with pulling them. With an adjustable driver, I could bring the 3 shafts in once and then try all of them, even comparing as close to side by side as possible. For me it is less about the actual adjustability and more trying different shafts in a good head I could actually get comfortable with… -RIDuffer
  3. I understand that it is not due out for a few weeks, but is there any additional info beyond the pro shop reference? I don't read Japanese and I am otherwise mentally challenged too so any help is appreciated. I did find a pdf on the "Quick Tune System" that indicates +- 2.5* of open/closed adjustability. I am most interested in the adjustability for the shaft change capacity, assuming adaptors can be purchased separately... TIA, -RIDuffer

Great heads, can't comment on the shafts.... GLWS
  5. He might have staged the theft so that he didn't have to return clubs... On a serious note, that does stink, good luck finding the perp...
  6. Other than the lack of needing to buy another driver to try a different setting, aren't most of us as interested in playing the gear as we are in playing golf...?
  7. I would argue that graphite irons are just as accurate as steel, maybe even more so, as you can engineer each shaft for a specific characteristic. Steel is not as controllable. However when talking price to performance, steel is better. I did a 6-iron shaft shootout with KBS Tour, C-Taper, Aerotech, Modus 3, 950WF and SP Blue on the steel side and Fuji Rombax, Aldila and Crazy for graphite... The Aerotech shafts were great performers, but not as good as the Crazy or Fuji. They played similar in flex to the Modus and for me, fairly high launching with the Miura Baby Blade heads. On the steel side, higher than both KBSs and SP Blue but lower than the Modus and 950s... Good feel and easy to track the head through the swing. Also, a very controllable shaft, so partial swings did what they were supposed to...
  8. Thanks for the heads up, but is not an issue. Spent the day using a midsize Lamkin wrap with one extra wrap to fit the shaft length, hard stepping, tip trimming, swing and butt weighting. Then my builder measured the outside diameter on the Lamkins in a few spots and when building will use the midsize Iomics I had assuming the outside diameters are in check. If not will go back to the Lamkins... These Personals will be very personally tuned for once completed... Now I just need to figure out what to do with a 3-PW set of stiff Modus 3's hard stepped playing a 38.5 5 iron with 43.5 gram butt weights under the grips...

What length and flex you looking for? I have a Quadra FEX 100g in X that I just had pulled from a 21* RomaRo playing ~40"
  10. Direction was ok maybe a little more right. But the whole feel of the club was wrong, it felt sloppy heavy and my distances were short 1 club. Just for perspective I play with a 43.5 gram butt weight, clubs at d4 prior to butt weighting. Same setup in TS905/Crazy CBI and the Personals with the Modus 3, so when I say sloppy heavy it was a shocker to me. Just couldn't get my hands around the grip so the release was off... Very enlightening experience....
  11. So I purchased this set of RomaRo Pro Forged blades at the beginning of this season and had them built with Iomic OS grips. I have been using Lamkin OS and built up midsize grips as well as GripMaster Leather OS grips with extra wraps and they all fit my hands well. So I assumed that the Iomics would be the same. Couldn't be more wrong. They are just plain big. The grip problem actually caused me to not enjoy the clubs as much and purchased a set of Personals to continue my blade testing. Was at my club fitter today going through the process of fitting the Personals with some UST IS980 shafts and while I was doing that had the RomaRo's re-gripped with some Lamkin Midsize wraps. What a world of difference. Those RomaRos are going to give the Personal a run for their money on the softness scale. I might even be adventurous and do a similar Uberschlocken blades review to what Supo has done... Have 2 of the 3 he is playing just different shafts... Anyway back to the grip thing, I knew having a too small grip was bad, but never could have imagined too big can have a similarly big impact on the feel of a club... -RIDuffer
  12. On the component stuff, at least what is listed as head only. Alternately, have them made in such a way that you can get them disassembled and rebuilt with a minimal incremental cost... Or just learn your specs and ask them to build what you want...
  13. I would probably try more shafts if I had an adjustable driver. As BB says not having to visit a builder every time you wanted to switch shafts, might be worth it...
  14. An interesting post on TM drivers and loft....
  15. So is that a sticker or a stamp and paint fill? Looks kinda like the Aldila RIP logo. Personally am fond of the lone symbol that indicates Epon on the Personals...
  16. With 4 distinct 2012 wedge models, what are the playing characteristics of them and how do they differ? Also any comparison to the PRGR LED? TIA, RIDuffer
  17. The specs are loft, lie, length and weight. The other stuff like a round grip, no sight lines and deeper body are not necessarily a spec to me, but rather a design choice. The other thing that turned me off was that my spec'd weight was on the upper edge of what they make and the fitter was "hesitant" to recommended the loft that worked best for me. As to custom putter makers, I know he isn't JDM, but I have gotten a couple of putters from from Slighter Golf. He does great work is is a nice guy to boot. Congrats on your victory Swisstrader.
  18. I know my name is not C, but am surprised you are losing that much distance... Played 1 round with them and am spot on with the Modus 3 compared to the TS 905 MB with Crazy CBI... I think it will get better once i have the opportunity to dial in with club fitter/builder in a couple of weeks... But first impressions are: Size wise, while a thicker sole and top line the overall size is the head is comparable to the TS 905 MB and RomaRo Pro. Pured shot is soft as a babies bottom, slightly off center hits are not overly punished distance wise, but a poor swing is punished severely. Definitely easier to hit than either the TS 905 or Miura BB, but not so much more that the RomaRos. Don't have a very good way to gauge ball flight as a comparison to the other clubs I ho, but 7 iron down I hit towering shots that half plugged into soft greens... I love the honeymoon phase, played a only irons today and it felt good. Have not done that in a while and is fun to have different shots into greens than what I normally play. I play almost daily on the same course and it can get monotonous when you always play the same clubs from tee to green on every hole... Visually stunning, pictures do not do it justice and the plating on these are more solid than anything I have ever seen. Gonna take something extra to put some dings/chips/chatter in these, but not gonna risk it I'll keep the head covers on...
  19. Did the fitting, didn't like the putters. Had one made by someone else that marched the spec.

Did a fitting last year but didn't like the putters that much. So ended up eating the cost of the fitting and took the specs to a custom builder. Like any other fitting it is about getting the measurements right, then any club that aligns to the spec is fine... If you like their putters, great if not, you know the length, weight, loft, etc for the putter that works. The fitting I'm curious about from Edel is the wedge fitting. Supposedly use Kyoei forgings and lofts of loft and bounce combinations...
  21. Anyone know if these are tapered or parallel?
  22. Got this thing on a whim... Tried it this today... Other than some minor hiccups seemed to do extremely well tracking my swing... http://www.golfsense.me/ Actually had to wear a glove for the first time in 5 years to put the thing on...

Wouldn't it be great if the shaft makers would use a better table than just SS to define what flex to use... Something like head weight coupled with SS and shaft length so one could easily look up in a chart... Its not like they don't already do some of that testing anyway. And isn't there that big book of shafts that Tario has include much of that detail...
  24. Can't wear a watch when I play... On the course the only thing on my wrist is my wedding ring... Used to take my ring off when I played, until I unknowingly put it into a pocket with a hole at the bottom. Now I keep an extra ring hidden at the house... Once off the course, it varies by the mood... A couple of Panerai a couple of Bell & Ross, a couple Jaeger and few one offs just because I thought they were neat... Agree on the exposed mechanism and picked up one of my favorites while flying through Heathrow... I got it in SS, but... http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/US/en/luxury-watches/product/reverso-squadra-hometime/ref/7002620.html When I wear it mechanicals out I frequently get asked how to tell time on the watch...
  25. If the course has both types, get both wedges and drop some of the mid irons from your bag... Who needs a 6 iron anyway...;)
