  1. They look good way better then I thought they would, remind me of the r7 B heads with the notch being different and better overall looks. Still don't understand the soft cast head thing, different steel or way of casting maybe. Hope they play well for you, they are the first iron from TaylorMade I would consider playing in a long long time.
  2. Awesome let us know how they play for you.
  3. Have to agree with BB just pure. This is a set I would play in a heartbeat.
  4. Did you get a chance to hit those corked bad boy's out? If so let us know. I am intrigued to hear what you think of these irons, pics would be nice as well.
  5. Really??? Please explain because everything I have read Vega is the retail brand for Kyoei. Like Epon is to Endo.
  6. I have to say I think this years model's look better then last years. They are one of the few Players CB's I would like to play.
  7. Watched the iron video and noticed not one shot hit resulted in a divot being taken, very much a sweep of the ball. Is that normal or a reflection of the guy hitting the irons in the video.
  8. Up for sale is one set of sick irons that are going to make someone very happy . The only reason I am selling these irons is because of the amount of offset in the set is just a little more then I want. But, they are the most beautiful irons I have ever owned and I have owned way to many sets. They are ultra soft forgings that will make you smile every time you hit the sweet spot. Quality is second to none and I have done some things to make them even better looking, custom paint and grips to match I hope my pictures represent these irons well. As you can see from the pictures these irons are a solid 9 out 10 with no rock dings or gouges only normal face wear (grooves are still sharp). No serious bag chatter at all (I am a dork and use head covers ). They are shafted with DGS300 and the 5 iron is 38 inches, the lie is 2 degree's flat, but I can get them bent to whatever specs you want. Don't be afraid to try these irons they are very forgiving due to the offset and how the weight is positioned in the irons. The only thing you have to worry about with these irons is the attention they get; people just stare at them or worse want to hit them. $675 shipped to your front door, thanks.
  9. I have the KB's in mine and they are a great combo with the Epon's.
  10. The OnOff driver is an 06 model it's only 405 cc's versus today’s drivers which as you know are 466 cc's. I really like it a lot and it’s a straight cannon. I had to check the USGA's website to make sure it wasn’t over the COR limit because when I hit it, it smoked my new Tour Edge Exotic driver and my buddies Callaway FT 5. I also like the look of the smaller head with the tall face just fits my eye better. Thanks for your comments about my clubs it was a fun project. Take care.
  11. Thanks I think they are cool, I would like to see more companies offer funky colored ferrules like Scratch does. Ari and his gang sure treasure those things like gold.
  12. I currently own two sets of JDM irons the Epon's and the X-Blades. The Epon's were a project of mine that started out because I couldn't stand the DSG's in them. I knew I was going to replace them with a different shaft, so I thought why not just pimp them out with custom ferrules and some colored IoMic grips. I had originally had thought to go with the NS 1150 tour that is currently in the X-Blades which is a great feeling shaft. The only thing I don't like about the 1150's is they tend to get a little too high for my taste, prefer a flatter trajectory especially in my short irons. Any way I decided to go with KB Tours 6.5 soft stepped once and I am glad I did. The KB's are great feeling and very accurate, I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for new shafts. Next it was the ferrule's, I love the new color ferrule's on the Scratch irons so I decided I would get some for the Epon's which was a lot harder than I had planned. Long story short I found two set's of the white with black ring ferrules and bought both sets. It's not hard to figure out why I went with the white IoMic grips with black tops. The white grips are really pretty easy to keep clean if you are wondering. The only problem I had with them is when I would pull a club from my bag they would rub against the black cap and leave a mark which was a pain to clean (had to use Acetone to get the marks off). So I bought some of those plastic tubes to keep them from rubbing together and it has worked like a charm. To finish the set off I filled in the Epon on the hosel and the numbers in white paint. I also re-did the paint on my wedges and added a white IoMic grip to my SC putter.
  13. I think the biggest advancements in club design in the upcoming years won't be the heads at all. It will be shafts and the metal and materials used to construct the golf head. The design of the club head is pretty maxed out the OEM's understand that, just look at what is being put out these days, just small tweaks to their current line. I mean look at the Callaway shovel the x-18 looks the same as the new x-22 just a slightly bigger notch and a new badge. MOI increase between models = you can't tell the difference and I bet the ball can't as well. Maybe your poor shot will only fly offline a half inch between models. Shafts are the next frontier in club performance and I am taking about both metal and graphite especially graphite. But, even steel shafts are better than they were 5 years ago, the new KB Tour is far superior to the DSG and feels better than the project X. Look for the next generation of steel shafts to be as light as graphite shafts sub 90 grams. Graphite shafts are the future designers haven't come close to perfecting them, the Voodoo is better than the By You and the NV. The different construction possibilities with graphite shafts make graphite the future once the sub 90 gram steel shafts hit the market. I am willing to bet that in the near future (sorry don't have a crystal ball) most pro's on the PGA tour will play graphite shafts why? Because they will be able to get a shaft that feels exactly like the want it at the weight they want it and it will perform exactly as they want it too. Look for the pro's to be using a trackman device to dial in their iron shafts like they do now with the driver, spin launch etc. I think it will be scary they distance they will achieve when they switch to graphite, just look at the driver distances now versus the old school steel shafts (yes titanium faces and ball have a major impact but less than you think). Also look to new metals and materials to make a current design much better, especially in the game improvement segment. It would not surprise me if in less than 5 years someone develops a cast club using a new metal alloy that dare I say it will make the forged club you hit today feel harsh especially compared to off center hits. Some genius is going to build it lighter and cheaper and stronger. Sounds silly but one day I willing to bet there will be a max cor restriction on irons. If I were to build a club today I would build a cast hollow body iron and fill it will some kind of material that makes it feel better than forged and makes the face hot and not just when you hit the sweet spot. Well that is my rant. If I am right in the future you can say you read it here first. P.S. If you build a hollow iron with a material inserted into the body I will sue you lol.
  14. Chris I have to tell you that is some impressive work. I never would have guessed those at one time where chromed.
  15. The problem I have with tour issued equipment is the amount of it floating around out there on forums like this and EBay. I mean am I the only one that has ever thought how is there that much tour issued equipment for sale and where are the people that are selling it getting it from??? It seems like everyone has a blank tour issued something for sale. Especially when you read that pro's keep a lot of the equipment for years something doesn’t add up. Any way I think the import stuff is the better road to go for many reasons mainly quality, get what you want and have it built to your specs not the alleged equipment built for some pro's swing which you can't reproduce.
  16. Have to admit those irons look much better that I thought they would. Yamaha has done a great job of covering up the cavity of these irons when you look down at them from address, I thought you would see 2 fangs hanging off the back. They look solid... Thanks for the review bogeydog.
  17. Chris do you see Epon changing its policy in the future to sell the AF Tour in individual irons? Once the opening launch is over. I know a lot of companies won’t sell individual irons until later in the life cycle of the product and they have sold the initial run of already bundled sets. The AF 301/ Tour set would be a great set.
  18. I just got off the with my local club fitter and asked him about changing the loft of the AF Tour by bending it 2 degree's stronger and if that would affect the play of the club and the bounce. He said that 2 degree's was nothing and it takes 4 degree's to have any affect. So there you have it, apparently you can bend the irons and not worry about affecting the play of the irons according to my local club fitter who better be right because he will be doing the work.
  19. Chris gave me a quote yesterday for 7-PW so yes you can order the Tour's in various head combo's which really is a great thing and something that makes ordering the Epon's very tempting because you can mix and match your set. Most people can't hit a long iron in a blade like the Tour so being able to get a more forgiving long irons in a mix set is something that most should take advantage of IMHOP. I know some people have felt like the AF 301's left a lot to be desired when it came to shot making especially in the long irons, I for one have loved the long irons in the 301's and felt the short irons to be good but not excellent because IMHOP they really were hard to shape shots with unlike my X-Blades which you can shape so easily you're tempted to hit crazy shots just for the fun of it. The long irons in the 301's are very forgiving and hit the ball very straight which is exactly what I want in a long iron, now add improve shot making abilities with the AF Tours in the short irons and IMHOP you have one of the best sets you can get. Only problem with this setup is the lofts which really makes me wonder what the heck was Epon thinking.
  20. My concern with the new AF Tours is the loft is 2 degree's weaker in these than the other Epon's which makes mixing a set of the AF Tours with say the 301's difficult. Is 2 degree's a lot to be bent for an iron? I wonder how bending them will affect the bounce on the club and how the leading edge will go through the turf now that you have changed the face angle to match the 301's loft it seems this will alter the play of the clubs. I would be curious if anyone else has thought about this and if so what are your thoughts . I guess you could get the 301's bent 1 degree weaker and the AF Tour 1 degree stronger to match them up but, that's a pain and also now you have double the cost to get that work done. I am really interested in mixing a set of the Tour's and the 301's but I am hesitant because of the loft's; maybe I am making much to do about nothing.
  21. Not much to say other than those are sick!! Can't wait to see pic's in hand.
  22. Sorry to hear about your shoulder hope you recover quickly and fully so you can enjoy those sweet irons you are getting. Maybe you can post some pics for all of us out here in the forums. Personally I couldn't have those sitting at home the temptation would be to great I would drive myself crazy. Take care.
  23. You can tell he knows his stuff. IDrive did you ever get your Epon's re-shafted with the KB Tours and if so what do you think of that combo? I am thinking of getting a set of the Epon's re-shafted with the KB's and wanted to get your take on them. Thanks.
