New here (Need help with forged cavity back irons)
Welcome to TSG/GTI! I would throw Yamaha into the mix & I've read that Tourstage makes some damn good irons as well. It's not going to be easy for with all the choices that are out there but hopefully, we'll be able to get you started on the right track. :)

Iron shafts
Best is too subjective. What is "best" for me or others may not be right for you... I have only tried the Graphite Design Tour AD iron shafts & they worked for me when I tweaked my back. There are a lot of options out there (Crazy, Quadra, Matrix Ozik, & so on). Start a new thread in the TSG Club Fitting Studio and Club Building Advice section & provide more information about your swing & what you're looking for (i.e. weight, flex, trajectory, etc.) so that others can help you out better.

Iron shafts
For the "softness or vibration dampening" you may want to look into graphite iron shafts.

Any Nippon Iron shaft experts?
K, I'm kind of in the same boat as you are with shaft selection. It'll come down to trying them out then weeding them out one by one via the process of elimination... I would suggest getting single shafts of the models that you're interested in to test out unless you have a fitter who has the shaft selection who can let you demo them. From my experience of the Nippon 950s & now the 999s, a smoother swing like yours suits them very well although as Spoon mentioned, they do hold up well when you put an aggressive swing on them. If you like the weight range of the 950s, why don't go up a step to the Stiffs.

Trade off by using non confirming driver?
The only trade off I can think of is not being able to use it for tournament play. Not all non-conforming drivers are as light as the Quelot (i.e. Kamui Works can build one to your specs.). Would be great for those fun rounds!

Nippon NS Pro WV Wedge Shafts
Heading out tomorrow to hit some balls & see how they perform for me. If they don't... I might look into the Super Peening Reds which are lighter than the KBS Tour Stiffs by a hair. Didn't you try these out too?

Nippon NS Pro WV Wedge Shafts
Lemme see... I'm coming from KBS Tour Stiffs in my Yamahas that were pured/flo'd... They are a simply a joy to use but, are on the stiffer & heavier side. I have KBS Tour Stiffs soft-stepped in a 4-iron & PW. The PW feels a little dead but, I'll try raising the SW a point or 2 to see if that makes a difference. Just had the triple 9s shafted in the 5, 7 & 9. It will definitely take some getting used to the lighter weighted shafts in the mid to longer irons. The 9-iron shaft feels better... Swung those in the backyard but, still need to take it out to the range to get a definitive feel. I can definitely feel them kick more than the KBS' even with my practice swings. I'm guessing that a smoother swing would be better with these shafts. I still have to try out the KBS Tour Regulars which are at 110 grams. & I even haven't tried the other Nippons (1050, super peening series)... Right now I'm basically trying to find the best weight for my tempo that I can control, give me the best feel, trajectory & distance.

Please save me with my Egg Spoon 15
Great tip sir! I do remember that episode. Now all I have to do is find it to refresh my memory.

Nippon NS Pro WV Wedge Shafts
Depending how if goes with my current shaft experimentation, I might try them out to match with my irons.

Please save me with my Egg Spoon 15
If weight is the issue, the Egg's lighter club weight in relation to your other woods might be throwing your tempo off. If you're swinging more aggressively, the shaft might not be holding up. You could try re-shafting it with a heavier &/or different shaft to help you out.

PRGR Egg Spoon 17* vs. Egg FW 18* ?
I think that the Spoon has a different material for a hotter face. Shaft is 1" longer. Unless the U.S. Dollar makes a miraculous recovery & the Japanese Yen weakens in the near future... I would doubt it. I was thinking about that combo also but, not sure if the loft separation would be good for the yardage gaps. Has anyone gone this route? The ID line came out recently but, it would be interesting to see what gets released during the upcoming Japan Golf Fair.

Crazy is a Geotech brand or Geotech made ?
Believe it's an error. That site doesn't always have accurate descriptions. Not sure about the 1st (think it looks like a J-Beam) but, the driver on the second link was designed by George Takei & Crazy. http://www.golftoimp...er-coming-soon/

My new EPON EMB driver
Bummer about the weather. It's nice & sunny here in NorCal at least, until tomorrow when the rains are supposed to start falling for the next 2 weeks. If ever you decide that the EMBs too noisy, I've read about some people who have used cotton balls to dampen the sound of their drivers.

Nippon NS Pro WV Wedge Shafts
I've searched, searched, and searched... but, barely found any feedback on the performance of the Nippon WV wedge Shafts. Wondering if anyone who has tried them would be willing to chime in in terms of their experience & the shaft's performance.
