Review of my new Gauge MBS vs "The Rivals"
ok guys i just received my gauge mbs from tourspecgolfer last week, now previous to these i have tested mp32s, 670s, miura 201s, TS mr23 cbs.....so heres my thoughts in a number of categories....... 1. looks the gauge mbs are a traditional headsize, very similar to the mp32, 670s and the miuras, slightly bigger than the us spec mrs....ie nice round toes, not tiny but in way chunky, toplines are what i would call standard for a modern blade..not like a knife and if i feel they have a slighlty longer heel to toe than the others. as far as cosmetics go the gauge really whoop ass! the mill marks on the back really stand out and the thickess sole makes them look so futuristic. i feel the weight progressively gets bigger BUT from address it is very hidden therefore the blade look remains :surprize: in order of looks i would rate these Gauge T/S mr23 and mp32s joint miura 201 670 2. feel the gauge mbs felt on par with the tourstage mr23s which really does say a lot in my opinion....felt soft and very crisp. they definatly had an overall softer feel than the mizunos and the 670s and with the miura im undecided as the strike pattern was varied. 3. forgiviness ok this is were they come into a league of their own. as i said from address they look very tradition and definately are a blade, however i hit some 3irons with these that i just couldnt have with the other clubs. the 3 iron is actually as easy to hit as the p or the 7! the weight in the sole must play a big factor in the forgiveness which doesnt take away from the club as its hidden from the eye. mis hits wit the gauge only suffer a minimal loss of distance and direction stayed constant, i actually felt that on some shots the extra muscle on the sole helped me to release the club back and i was getting a slight f=draw rather than a FORE right! the next best thing to the gauge were the mp32s which also were a pleasure to hit off centre. the miuras played well too and the 670s and mr23s definately were harsh at times (especially in the wind chilling conditions over here in IRE) 4. playability and flight the gauge mbs ARE definately a draw bias club! my main problem on the course is that my hips open to fast and i get a late hit = block however with these i found that the ball wanted to come back and in many cases did :-). i do like to work the ball, so for me this is the only category the irons fail. i did get a fade going with them but i found that i really had to try. the flight was not as high as i had expected and actually surprized me. wedges were going a respectable height, 3irons were piercing, peaking then droping! ooo and punch shots were very possible! in comparison to the others these and the mp32s come last. i feel that is the only fair place to award them. the 670s were the best iron for flight control. when using these i found tragectry was easy to influence and the playability was awesome, the mr23s and the miura came as a close second to 670s as these too were awesome to control the flight of and workability great. mr23s were better for the tragectory and miura slightly up on the workability stakes. the mp32s probably were slighly easier to work the ball with however the flight on them was awful. i honestly feel like the ballooned every time. All in all guys i think is clear to see what my favourites are :gauge: they like sleek from address, classy in the bag, attract LOADS of attention and best of all they perform! they get the :-) from me. thanks chris! PS. i will be taking pics of the irons in the next few days and comparing them alongside the mp32s 9 and hopefully the mr23s) thanks Bja before i recieved them i was really worrying about the apparent large muscle of the soles, and that it may cause them to bal

UPDATE WITH REVIEW: 2005 Gauge M/B custom irons by Joe Kwok
wow guys, i get got mine today, shipped by chris of course....thank you! the pics of these REALLY DONT do them any justice. they are pure beauty! they really do inspire confidence = sleek blade look with alot more forgiveness! the heads on them are similar size to most modern blades, however they do have a lot of weight in the sole. from what i can see the amount of weight in the sole is progressive from normal in the pw - most in the 3. all in all they are what i would call the 'new style of combo' where they short irons play like players clubs should and the long irons are easy to lauch with tonns of forgiveness. so anyhow i took them to my practise ground and got stuck into a full session. all i can say is :-)!!! at the moment they have s300s in them (which i will be taking out soon to replace with something stiffer) this taken into consideration i found that the ball flight was normal, and i would say for sure lower than the mp32's! workability was v.good also but the most impressive part of them was the feel.....buttery! all in all im very impressed and hope the honeymoon period lasts! Lennie let me know how the TC work in them, thanks bud

wobbly putting stroke
myy fav cure for the wobbles is to use a belly putter when practising to help give the sensation of rocking your shoulders. this is a dear way to improve your stroke! a cheaper solution would be to include a drill in your routine. ie before you hit the put, stick your std length putter in your belly, look down at the ball and proceed to take a few mini strokes by rocking your shoulders. this takes away the sensation of hands in the stroke. it will also promote the proper path your putter should be travelling on........not straight back --- straight thru, but slightly open to slightly closed hope this helps :-)

Cameron Grips, How Much Is Too Much?

Irons
in my honest opinion the irons your seeking are the mp 32s. they have everything you ask for with the exception that they do go high. the feel of them is that expected of mizuno and the forgiveness is awesome. they really do not play like a traditional blade when struck off centre but look as bladey as any other on the market. apart from those you should look into a set of the mr23 us spec. these are the daddys!!!! i loved mine untill i got them blueprinted by a dummy! :surprize: and now they are just poor messed up :wah: the only other iron i can think of that may be down your street would be the x tours...when they eventually come out. My best friend who plays on the ire team demoed a 6 iron three weeks a go. he said from address they look nothing like a callaway, very small, with a slightly thicker topline. And in usually callaway style they were ROCKETS!!!! :-) as for your 670s, the only advise i can give you on these is to sell for what ever you can get. as you know i had the exact same set made up, i didnt get on with them and ended up losing a fortune, even tho they were only 2 weeks old!!

R7 Tp retail VS. R7 Tp tour
ok guys i have tried both the tp and i own the tour T serial num with B above....in my opinion there is a diference, small but its still a difference. i thought that the tour had a harder face and that when you go for a big one the feel of the face is like no other. my one doesnt ting at all unlike my friends tp version. they are the only small differences i noticed. i got my own of the european tour van when it was at the belfry last month, and the guys were sayin that the tour head was actually 410cc not 400, now i personally cant notice any difference in the head size when setting them side by side, who knows maybe its bull**** :surprize:
