Gauge Design FCB Head Weights......need some advice!
ok so found out some good info...... these are slightly heavier than retail usa forged irons so as they can swing weight at d2 with a 37.75 inch 5 iron. meaning that i can really put in any shaft i want. From previous experience with the gauge irons i found that a slightly softer flexed px works fantastic in these.....so here goes! ps the orange iomic grips with green caps will be slapped on too! lol

Gauge Design FCB Head Weights......need some advice!
ok guys, not often i need to ask advice about shafts but this time i do lol! i just picked up another set of the fantastic Gauge Design Sudio Handmades and with them in an unbelievable deal of the century, i got a set of the original Gauge Design Forged Cavity Back Heads. When i agreed on the deal i really was not sure what to expect from these heads - So anyway the shipment came in and i opened up the box with the FCB's - i was pleasently surprised......Not only where the heads brand new with their head weights etc etc included, but the heads themselves look fantastic. Also another point to note about these irons is that they seem to be forged in the KYOEI factory - which IMO has some of the softest purest feeling forgings out there. This is where Gauge previously had their irons forged until the factory could not keep up with the large scale output. anyhow, i am noticing on the heads they their headweights are as follows pw - 293.3g 9 - 285.1g 8 - 278.2g 7 - 270.5g 6 - 263.9g 5 - 257.2g 4 - 250.7g 3 - 242.6g Are these slightly heavier than standard? also if these are slightly heavier then what shaft would be recommended for these heads......i have 4 sets of shafts in the house Tour concepts, Project x. Nippon 1150 and Nippon 950...... also i can play my irons at either 37.75" 5 iron or 38 " 5 iron......could this have any effect? Any advice would be appreciated, Bj

DUE YOU PAY TAXES WHEN PRODUCT ARIVES IN USA
i highly suggest the r7 forged, the epon type js or a set of the miura 1006. All of these irons are top japan forgings and you will not be disappointed. The MR23s are the legendary clubs of a few years ago, however i honestly do think that the more modern clubs made in japan will provide equal if not superior feel with much more forgiveness. just my 2 cent.....and i have played them all!

epon type j reviews??
i actually have no irons in the bag at the minute......if you look at my WITB you will see that i have listed type x vs Miura 1006 vs Gauge Handmades, as this is the next comparison i am going to do. i have the epon type x coming in any day now, and cant wait to see them. I am currently a low single figure handicapper, and to be honest could player any players cb or blade. However as i stated above, i actually do like the look of a slightly chunkier iron, as it fills me with more confidence and on a day when i am swinger bad - an off day, it will make the difference of shooting 80 and 75/76. hence why i like the more forgiving and blocky thicker topline of the gauge handmades. I loved the feel of the epons soooo much, i thought that i should order the type x (which have a thicker topline and should be overall more forgiving) to see how they compare to the gauge design handmades! However i think you are definitely missing out if you do not try a set of these !!! Alpha_Pro what is your take on them

epon type j reviews??
This is not a full blown review as i have not played the irons sufficiently to do that yet, however i can give my initial thoughts and opinions on them. The iron i compre every new set to is my all time favourite set -> Gauge Design Studio Handmades. Looks In terms of looks the epons are imo very traditional, with a nice mid-thin topline, nice face width and depth, ie they are not too chunky and definitely not intimidating at addressl. From the back view they are a beautiful chrome/stin chrome and they do daw attention when outside the local pro shop.....so beware :tsg_smilie_whistle: However when i Compared them to the gauge handmades i have to give to give the gauge the heads up to be honest. I just love the handmades longer face, with a block topline. To ME this inspires confidence when i stand over the ball, which of course is very very important. Alo from the Back view the gauge are a lot more busy, ie they have the buldge muscle in the cavity, as well as the millings inside the cavity. which i think is very very stylish! Feel In terms of Feel the Epons theyare so crisp, they are not they sofest forging i have ever hit, but that is not a bad thing. They have a firm positive strke that is buttery when centre hit. I have the Nippon 1150 stiff in these and the combination of the silky smooth slightly lighter shaft and the crisp forgings of endo really do leaver a tingle in your hands. When compared with the gauge they are not as soft, howvever i actually like that, as sometimes the gauge feel slightly too soft, and i had wished i got more of a strike or hit out of them! especially with the punch shots........i found the gauge hard to hit knock downs where as with the epons there proves to be no problem! In this department i have to give the heads up to the Epons - as i have hit a few shots that have left me astonnishing! Performance / Forgiveness The Epons are pure performance clubs, i think that if you are swinging the club well and need to really work the ball these will be the ticket to success. i found high shots, punch shots, draws and fades not a bother with this set, ranging from the pw to 3 iron! However the forgiveness of these is yet to be proved. so far i have found that heel misses are much preferrable to toe side misses. The heel miss does not seem to loss much distance nor strike, however when struck out of the toe i really feel the shot suffers. In comparison to the Gauge, the Epon Type J are much easier to work high and Low, not difference in the ability to draw and fade and the Gauge are in my opinion More forgiving. The reason i say this is because i finf the gauge to be very friendly, no matter where they are struck out of - and my miss hit being from the toe side, of course i will struggle at times with the type J. Distance In terms of distance i really do not notice any difference on calm conditions. THey bought seem to play to a standard 8 iron 155 yards carry. However into the wind is another matter, the epon definitely get the edge here. due to the greater workability of the type J and the ease of hitting low punch shots i found that the wind did not effect them as much as the higher hitting Gauge. Im sorry for such a brief overview of the set - but this is all i could come up with at the minute.....for me both sets are at the very top end quality of ALL the many many sets i have had. Both are unique and have their own benefits. I would have to say it will be a struggle deciding which set to play on a week in week out basis, however im having fun choosing. :tsg_smilie_cool:

Longest legal driver on the market?
lol i totally agree, i think that the head is super feeling, but the real gain in distance is from the true loft of the head in combination with the high launch low spinning shafts.
-
Longest legal driver on the market?
im not sure if i mentioned above but any of the epon drivers i have order have been....44.75 inch therefore it is 1/4 of an inch shorter than standard. this is the length i always play my driver! so this does not have any role in the increase in distance of my drives!!!!!!

Longest legal driver on the market?
well i should receive the next epon with the UPGRADE ICN Drev Tour ICN in 2 days. so i will want 3 days to compare........after that i will spill the beans, :tsg_smilie_cool:

Let's talk grips
yes the technity cord grip comes as stand on all of the epon range. and can i just say that it is a super cord grip - it is not harsh at all and does not rip your hands to pieces! Grips are something i change my mind on ALOT! i love the ribbed tour velvets, i also love the red colour code cord ping grips......these are super thin which means i can rip my hands through impact! Also for a while i order a stack load of iomic grips of chris......and i actually had a different colour grip on each iron lol - how sad am i! anyways i found that the iomic grips were a great buy, yes very expensive however they looked super cool, drew peoples attention and yes they did actually feel great. The were brilliant in dry weather, they seemed to get very tacky BUT i must warn they are not too good in wet conditions.........if you are thinking of these as your next set of grips make sure you buy a pair of mac wet rain glooves lol! :tsg_smilie_cool:

Titleist Japan 2006 Tour Bag
