ok................. 17 days of golf in oz with a fair few pieces. some old. some new some rebuilt epon zero---------------diamana x 60s kamui kp-x -----------diamana x 70s ryoma d1--------------diamanax 70s took just these 3 out to play in tasmania i figuered these are my most sturdy and would play well in the wind. i was right. they all played very well. the ryoma was a very steady very reliable club for horrible conditions. distance was very good. flight was low to mid low. and a piercing trajectory. the slightly higher toes shots that turned the ball over were very long . had no fear at all stepping up with this beast and as we all know the miss**t shots were EASILY the best results of all culbs. its just such a perfect club if i had just one it would he hard to not have this one. its punch its heavier and its damn straight. i dont think its shorter nor longer than anything else.. but consistantly it just goes nad goes out there a decent way. thres no better test for drivers f than what we played in tassy . 9.7/10 the epon zero rebuild with a 45 inch build and ligher 60s shaft proved to be maybe my biggest master stroke in years. head speed increased. stil doesnt want to go left unless i do the open hips straight pull smash thng i tend to do a bit when im getting tired. but on the sublime days when the wind wasnt about say 20knots, i took her and let her eat..! ate she did. liked this combo MUCH better than all the others ive tried in her. unbeleiveable feel. incredible oomph. flight was mid and strong. distance was excellnt and .......... the misses were MUCH MUCH better than eveything else in it. its staying as is and it gets used on quieter days.. big tip for this head.. a weaker shaft seems to suit it better! the kp-x was prob my most payed club adn the longest SINGLE shots were achieved with this club. a cpl were really big one in particular was rediculous. utterly rediculous. misses were good . better than the epon not as good as the ryoma. the ryoma was better in the BIG wind. the kp-x on normal tassy wind days was fabulous. and its workable. the ryoma.. no way, just lock load.... best of these on the wind tour??? the ryoma best on average days the kamui and nicest to play by a country mile the epon. oh and the epon ISNT shorter . then i got home and replayed the jbeam 425 tour with roddio shingo spec m6 proto(2010) gee whiz that goes.. and goes... and goes.... low and running. its the kahoona. its the mac daddy, as long as u have grass that allows some roll.

detailed comparison to c-tapers......monaccos.. got plenty more but its moot beceause they are all rptos and no one has a reference to them so these 2 shafts are popular and played by many...., the c-tapers are the lowest.. then the monacoc then the dianmana thump (s) they are all headed by endo forged irons. callaway tour forged. epon personals yamaha tour not too dissimlar heads.. well they are all pretty much player esque. in the wind the votes is EASILY the c-tapers. then monacco then thumps. in normal conds id go monacco then thump then c-tapers. for winter the thump then everything esle. for a graphite shaft....... the thumps are a very strong rigid shaft in stiff. i cudnt imagine wanting the X the stiff was perfect. i found myslef drawing a lof of balls with these which is VERY WEIRD. the scoring irons i think i cud have donewith more oomph. i found them a bit light from 8-pw not bad... just light. and where we were playing.. (barnbougle) dunes in 30+knot winds...................., thats not what the doctor ordered. the lower irons tho ,.. i liked a bunch, i didnt have to try and muscle up just swung away and for the most made pretty good contact. the 4 iron i have a NS SP blue in, and that was a heck of a combo with the yamaha tour. the impact of the thumps was anything but what the name says.. they are uber smoooooooooooooooooth and while not really a high launching shaft they did tend to go a wee bit higher than i was expecting. they are a shaft u can play every day without a doubt, and without any kinda arm soreness occuring ( well t hast what i found). bec of the super long length ( compared to what i normally play.. 38.5 to 37.75) which i didnt like at all.......i had to choke down a lot which isnt natural to me . i like holding the butt with my pinky and letting the fingers flick thru......! im not sure of the build weight nor the swing weights on these beci literallygrabbed them and ran to the plane. but im taking them in tomorrow to get my guy to see if he can change a cpl of things.. length.... lie... not sure if that possible tho. comapred to the monaccos i found the DIAma.. to be a more challenging shaft. prob bec they are light adn i didnt think icud get the required oomph to make them work. in norm conds, no such issue. but when it was blowing i was def longing for the steel. they are perty straight shooters. didnt really get them to move about. def not as much as the monaccos. thast not to say they didnt move.... they did.. but i foundi had to go harder to do it,, and with a light weight the results werent always............ good........ as for feel, well the feel magnificent. when i got hem pure just fantastico. and on missss**ts no issue at all. easly the nicest off centred shafts ive ever hit . the monacco are def better to hit with the shoter irons . much more confidence to get the ball to do what its told. but hte dias were much prefered in the longer irons. not being funny but i cud EASILY do a 4-7 in the thumps and 8-pw in the monacco as a set.. easily do that. the only swinger is the 6 iron i thinki d like that as a steel. c-tapers were much lower.. much much lower and a much more heardy strong penetrating flight. wind didnt touch these. but in normal conds i think there are a lot more (higher softer) options. i cud easily play these every day. but i think id be missing out on other feels.. the thumps on docile days work beautifully. but so does a tissue box and a broomstick.............. i cud see myslef playing just the c-tapres and the thumps if i had 2 sets of the same irons that cud easily cover all bases. but as a one off set . the monacoos are easily my foirst choice... easily. the best all round is the monacco the best tough horrid day are the c-tapers and the best of tight lies and lovey days are the thumps. i dont like the extra lenght in these and im hoping my guy can do something about it,..but as he knows all my specs . im doubting i can..,, which means ill be pulling them. nad going a differnt vein. after a very good tough introduction to these shaft id rate them very highly, very highly indeed. but i wont just "endure" something as a build that isnt perfect for me. so well see... theres plenty of other options out there. id think it was a shame if i cant get thes to spec. bec i do like t hme a lot

as a "new" member of the c-taper apprecitaion squad. i will NOW vouch for thier all round playabiliy and feel. i still think the Ns sp blue are a match and a hlf for feel. the aerotech steel fibers are going in a set of tourtage 701s this week so i can test them out. this week. id think.. adn u gotta remeber u swing much much faster/ harder than all of us here combined. that the c-tapers might be right up ur alley. the monacco in TX will also be there. for handling ur speed. or u might wanto to look at a set of NS proto 2s14. these shafts are fantastic 135 gram superb feel..... superb feel...! spoon might be able to help u here -

they spun quite a lot more than the steels did hitting back into the teeth of the breeze. i only noticed this when i palyed the NS protos c-10s and the c-tapers. AFTER i returned. ive played nothing anywhere near as good in the puff as the c-tapers and the c-10s. looks like that chapter of my seartch has CLOSED for ever. for ""ordinary"" everyday stuff tho the diamana thumps are magnificent. long. storng. non invasive on yr joints. only thhing i can say is they are a bit light im itching to get the yamahahas bent 1* tomorrow so ia can play them on saturday back here in japan. winther golf just got a set of irons me thinks! -
personals will laucnh HIGH they are extrememly forgiving blade type irons they will play similar to the 302s i think u can swap intop them with a minimal of fuss the yama tours are a good mix as wel. very forgiving blade, but not as much as the personals id think u would suit the perosnal more

mjD .monacco are the shaft i prefer. thet are better than the NS protos i have had in them the c-tapers for ur swing speed will be a MUST consider. as wil the Sp blues. ive FINALLY................. found what the c-tapers are all about., inm y callway ENDO heads these are MY links irons now. left em in sdyney c-tapers are fabulous and im only playing them in stiff -
Ive ahd all of them and. I think the 2010 Are my faves they are nthe best bakance between the more powerfull 2011 and.T He super easy 2008 The 2009 are a beaut. Well but. Not. Everyone will like the cavity design YeA. After 4 Years of tampering with all and subdry i think the 2010 are prb my faves To be honest tho Any and all cud and have sat as first choice irons No issues with any The 2010 and 2100 are the lower launching of them all The. 2011 the most difficult and best rewarded irons The 2008 the easiest

rightyo chaps FINALLY GOT A FEW MINS AWAY FORM SCREAMING MULTiple FAMILIES TO give u all a pretty good update on how these babies go against ...well........... a LOT..! been gaming...., epon 301 technica------monacco X callaway quad dot 2009 forged tours.-------KBS c-tapers protos epon personals-------Ns protos c10x (HEAVY..!) yonex ezone--------Ns proto c10x yamaha 2009 forged------kbs tour nickel protos all of these clubs IMO are AS GOOD AS ANY CLUB that has ever been made theeres no better here fellas theres just degrees of superbness ! ive pelnty more here but i didnt get a chance to hit them .as 5 days in tassy with the yamms put paid to that idea so onto the yammys..........., firstly, the combo of the diamana thumps.. firstkly they play 3/4 oVER my normal length 38.5 inch 5i thats MASSIVE to me. secondly.. they clubs are prob 1* too flat for ME def at least 1 * ,minimum too flat. didnt realise how much till iu got back to syd and gamed the epons . wow boy was a huge differnce. so th combo of the diamanas is an excewllent choice....its NOT 100% ideal for the conditions i was playing in, 50 k/ph winds. in fact they were def NOT ideal. but in NORMAL conditions these are superb clubs.. they lack of feel in your elbow is a marvellous surprise... the lack of bone shattering jarring on miss**ts is simpy delicious.... however........................ after going back to my NS protos for the first time in yonks...... STEEL is my DEAL. i will easily say steel in wind in unmatchable /unequlable. period. and ill say the c-tapers im trying to hate are absolutelly sensational they are pefect in wind id say..................... the best.................. with the c-10s.................. the best. the length of the yama blades is a nice foil for the miniscule blades im used to playing. they are long. the sole is what id call medium width and its not uber dynamic like say a tourstage 905 or a miuraism. the milling on the face is MAGNIFICENT it seems to hold the ball for longer and kinda make it easier to direct the shot . all clubs shud have this milling its a game changer i was tempted to pull the shafts but i figured i have so many steels . these will be a nice easy playing club..... il get them re weighted weh ni get bakc to tokyo to see if i can cut a cpl of cms off them as i didnt like the longness of them nad il DFINALTY get them bent upright 1* ive gamed them 7 rounds in al conditions now and i like them a heck of a lot they are totaly differnt beasts to the older tour models.. they areNOT better. they are differnt. i still love the old tours and these wont affect guys likeness of the older models 1 iota i dont think they are not in the same mould at all. they were nt the best clubs for hitting off hard pan, the thick sole put paid to that they will be superb for japan conditions.. these will be absolutely magnificent! the only question remaining for me is whether to get them with the NS shafts aswell. i rate these clubs in my top drawer. they arnt no1 and i know everyone wants to know these or the personals............. my honest answer is ... both. seriously. the epons are chunkier and punchier. the yams are more finicky if i was given one set only to play i wouldnt mind either honestly. they are not really similar. i think i need to cut the shafts shorter and bend the lofts in the yams and im 99.99999999% sure this wil make the yammys.. well ver yhard to remove from bag.! -

one of the best sets of shafts ever!
-
yes these arnt cheap and the thumps are one of the cheaper ones pe set. id not go these unlessu like a veyr heavy feeling swing weight tho. which i do bec it slows my tempo down and i get better control. going to play the KBS c-tapers now..... its windy as all hell here alst 3 days. ths c-atapres hud be custom made for this.. if i dont like em today..., then they are out the door on BST this arvo!
