  1. bogey san, sorry i initially posted yamaha. i have yamaha on the brain. unfortunatly.................. wasnt able to hit them as the yonex actual irons arnt released . bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! damn i was itching to hit those . shant stop searching till i can find!
  2. Opening day of the show , and eyes wide open. too much to take in, sensory overload Yonex tho has always interested me , so stopped in for a peek, big showcase, with PLENTY of new gear. i was drawn , like a vampire to a long neck, to the new iorns for Ryo-kun. now i think i got this right ,i ll double check it tom ,they are forged by zodia in chiba. they look terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrific ! nothing fancy about these at all , the stamps, the lie , the shafts, just one of the best looking muscles ive seen. they have a flat lie , somewhere between round and square toe. small head the 3-7 are full muscles, the 8-9-pw tho, VERY much inspired by the tourstage 901 but a lot more solid. these most definatly will find a home in my bag this season. best looking irons ive seen in a long time. UNFORTUNATLY I CANT UP LOAD PICCYS, so youll have to wait till tom, and hopefully ill be able to HIT them and give a little report. to look at seriosuly good!
  3. whats the flight like on fairwasy i have a s7x 3w with no head on it , am thinking of putting that in my yamaha
  4. yea , join i love having one offs. but im slightly differnt tho. my bags a hotch potch meld of experimentation i like randomly selecting components and seeing how they go, some times i loose .. (akira driver - quaadra fire express.) but some times........... (yamaha 2008 - Graphite design p9003x)... (egg 5 iron ns 1150 x shaft for a ute) i KILL it big time. no one in the galaxy will have these set ups. when i fianlly decide to step up. and realise less IS more il grab some golds for sure.
  5. ha.........! now THAT is the ultimate golf toy....... oh joy, id nver have to leave the building. save me billions on golf balls at the range. set it ip in the garage. my marriage .....................,SAVED.....!
  6. hens teeth those sir...., ill keep an eye out a well, but nothing here in the last 4 weeks has turned up except a 56 which sold in 10 seconds aparently.
  7. low lofted fairways huh........., dont think ive seen a 12*, 13* is the lowest ive spotted. but if u want a set of players woods, then these are pretty ..............darn....................good.................! in fact., in fact , infact, subject to gaming them this sunday. it will take a monumental cluster up on my behlf, ( which im positive wont happen) to keep these out of my bag.................................., .............................................. indefinatly. yup, the mighty all conquering egg spoon of last year has a collosal challenge to make the cut now. its on the bench, obviosuly itlll still start in certian matches, particularly if i need to bomb greens from a far. but for workability, looks, feel, these little beauties. . well im gagging to have a bash with them in a match at the range last night . wow, i could hardly put em down. they are much easier to hit than i initiially thought , i was expecting tiger esque difficulty , and the trajectory is surprisingly mid. i though i was in for worm burners. but nope. could move them about willy-nilly, distance no problems, not overly long. but absolutely no problems what so ever. i think the yamaha is longer and equally solid off the tee , but thier over all performance just no 1. they are reshafted with crazy black fw 8.2 x 43 and 42 inch raw. they look well........... fabulous, and the 60circ. white imic x-evols make then a an absolute joy to hold. final judgement on mon after sundays match ( all things being equal and i mange to get out of the tokyo show ) but not playing in a month is making me very itchy... hitting balls at the range is fun , but the thrill of comp is another thing completely !
  8. that p9003x.........., now thats a bombers shaft. ilovethat. the older roddios are def higher launch higher spin . prob not the best for 110+ as you say. but for my 2 partnes who swing in the 98-105 range they ahve seen humongous increases in their driver distances, ,and they both hit all the top enders, the roddios tho i cant pry form their hands under any circumstances. ive hit he new s7x and its a beauty thats not high launch etc its a great shaft, hope they are at the show tom , ill ahve a big chat to them about end what end make shafts for. that 9003x.................. (mjr d , why????)
  9. i agree with trial and error. my perfect length is now 45' . i thought it was 44.75 , but i found i like to have a small AK esque choke down the shaft a bit and 45 is my length, if i go shorter i snap it. i like the comfort factor the 460cc gives me most days. but if im driving really well then the 425 is the better option ive found. i wont have just one driver. i need to have a cpl of differnt types, shapes, and styles. shafts and heads included. IN JP , ill take about 3 with me and on the range b4 the match which ever one i hit best goes in the bag , regadless of what it is. sometimes its a roddio/onoff combo like in the monthly comp last yr , i came 2nd . i havnt hit it since, but that day,, it was perfect. when im driving consistantly well tho , the smaller head will usually get the nod.
  10. in crazy? prob the tj 46 that sound about right T ? the crazy 80 and 50 are the best "feeling " distance low spin shafts ive hit. the tj 46 longest yard is like an elastic bullet. just keep going. not the best feeling of the crazys but results. pretty hard to top! the quadra is the best performer for price by a country mile. nothing in the same class, league ,hell not even in the same sport! the new proto is a differnt fish tho. a lot more like the crazy, tighter, more stingy, but stil hasnt got that tip to toe sensation that crazy manage to get. the proto is all tip all finger, its electric, the FE is a more rounded feel. the crazy is like ..................,well, a merceds 600. the only reason ican think of why the FE dont absolutley dominate that top end section is they DONT advertise anywere. im thinking this might be the same as why epon dont adverise , i presume its beceause they make everyone sheets so they dont want to step on toes of the OEMS, perhaps?? if u can find them , great ull find a fabulous shaft priced differntly to the oems and chaeper than the uber shafts. they did that REALLY well. ill cetianly be asking quadra-san this tomorow! they should be right on the door of no 1 seller (top end ) , if they advertised i have NO doubt they would go really close. shigeki maruyama gamed the FE not long ago, but to very little fanfare. and hes NOT a bad player . but i hardly heard a peep about it.
  11. hmm .. perhaps ur right , i never see any of them hanging about in shop windows they get offerd a bit as upamrket shafts but never retail. pretty weird that i like em!
  12. chaps question..............., i do manage to hit my fair share of sticks. im particularly partial to driver shafts. i think ive hit pretty much all the uber ranges. the obvious ones keep popping up quadra, crazy, GD, matrix, but i dont see lot of chat here about roddio. i have no diea why, these are firmly in my favourite shafts . they have a distinct bias either let or right and the tighter flex play as dynamic as any. is it bec no marketing by daiwa??? ive replaced a cpl of these recnetly and man they feel fantastic. the s7x s6x for the harder swingers are UP THERE cazaly! the 6wba and w6wa for more carry and distacne i think ull find it hard to beat for carry high ball drives . they just dont get noooooooooooooooooooooooo luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv. pour quoi ?
  13. sorry i missd this thread.., i think iahve a few things u might want o hear about 3 really top fairways, and if u wait till tom u wil see lsome piccys form tonights bombathon.
  14. [Now with Miura, god I hate to get into this because so many retail customers think they know the skinny... TADA mfg forges Miura golf clubs. It's funny another forum posted a youtube video called the Miura forging process. The video clearly show's TADA mfg. I do think Miura makes top quality product. Tolerance is tops due to spin welded hosels but spin welded hosels are dated and a very cheap way to adjust and keep specs stable. Saves a ton of money in tooling. aha........., i saw that. it created all sort of ruckus on wrx . guys were getting into fisticuffs hand over fist supporting or condeming it. why dont they just say hey our stuff is pressed over yonder? and get it out clean. i dont care , im only concerned with the finished product. so far all his irons ive hit have been pretty darn tasty. but as ive stated..., there many and varied that are as good better what ever. the kyoei guys are a funny lot, they get pretty stressed about orders.., gotta be communication breakdowns. im still lwaiting for my new 3 and 4 iron to match my supo set that i ordered over a month and a half ago! im sure when they finally do get here tho itll be worth the wait.
  15. well ive never heard that....... and i play all those irons, and ill state the 2 Big forging houses ihome brand irons are every inch as good as mr miuras. not sure if id go so far as to say better or worse. in fact if u ask about u might find a prety humongous school of thought here that says contrary.! miura 1957s are very very sweet players design , being an incrediblly small head they are really surprisingly easy to hit. the miura giken range are japan models the 1957 s are US model the giken are slighly differnt shape and thickness to suit the japanese grass. they most certianly DO NOT look gross sitting in a bag on the back of a cart.... in fact they look MOST elegant indeed. if u see the type of palyers that bag the"isms" u might get wee bit humbled. in terms of playability epons feel best.. miuras are the most workable . kyoei most solid and direct point shoot. kyoei i tihnk are the best for distance control and into the wind THATS what i bag over everything. if u have a hit with my kyoeis u might earnstly disagree with whoever said that above.
  16. Sub400 is punchy 425 i find to be the limit of my ability driver wise. There is a much more compact solid feel to a well struckhit with my tour heads but i love the safety feeling of the460s . Def the penetrating flight is great and ive found on windy days i prefer the smaller head for some reason i feel more confident, but on perfect days.....LET THE BIG DOG eat!
  17. hhahahahaahah YES it most certianly does..! if u find it too stout ill swap u my stiff for it! . theres not much better than what you got there ptp. theres only equals.
  18. def no balooning problem., 100% not. the quadra plays a lot tighter than the di6 in the same flex. if ur coming down from 75x shafts the 65 sx is DEFINATLY what u want not the S the quadras play pretty true to spec maybe slightly on the softer side i think the crazy play harder
  19. Its a j beam im black no paint fill go to j beam tolyo website and hve a look its the 2nd one down. Its rare as rocking horse poo so u might have to wait a long time and T is prob the only way ull get one. I got ext remely lucky.
  20. Pete rhat sringer is more pure than the driven snow u get a102 on it and yeeeeeeehaaaaaa. There is nithing softer its been pured i believe so the grip shud be in the right place.
  21. the 425 tour ......,u can see it next to the 435. that thing i have just been getting better than everything. the 435 is so low, in JP i wont use it most weekeends . just on a few champ courses that unequivocably need to be straight. i can not move this one inch one way or another, the wind blows it left or right but not me, its just head over the pill, pull, shooot, phew darn the pipes! rolling like a marbel on a glass table. in JP pretty much tho u need a lot more carry . in Australia on the links course ,the 435 was supreme. above everything else ,the next best was the new yamaha 2011 quadra 75xs, played that in cyclone conditions one day and made most fairways with the roll it gets it is seriosuly long too. i was lot farther down the middle than id been previously on this course. thast really low as well. but the jbeam/crazy has it beat. the 425 tho so far is just mind blowing , ive only ranged it so far bec its too bloody cold here. but i have not hit one bad balll. not one! i cant account for it .but hey......... ill take that, thast a low mid flight as its 10.5* but its still on the low side, compared to everything else its low, just compared to the yamaha and the 435 its mid thast a better way to explain it. the best of the oem made ones is the 2010 yamaha v201 460cc 9* stinger set up. that thing is superb! its a lot more forgiving with off centred shots and pured ones feel magificent. same feel as epon . the jbeam heads tho are somehting else. my ultimte goal by this spring is to have culled my current collection and to bag ; the ryoma black d-1 vspec------quadra proto 75xs the 425 and 425 tour jbeams---------both curent crazys as is 08 yamaha as an alternate --------gd p9003x new 460 crazy---------crazy black 80 noir. then i can sleep easy, and contented. id seen these crayzs for a while her but they arnt typical so i ignred them , then u posted that report b4 chirstmas. so i lifted one for christmas golf and it was a huge success. horses ( ha!, or drivers) for courses! yes ido most definalty have a driver addiction. but i cant paly every day here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
