Battle of the 3 Woods is OOOOOVER
you are so right.., i bought the 18* 5 wood to test, i cant find this used in a 3w for under $400 !! . i changed the shaft to the graphite design md 7x.. . ive used this shaft in a varierty of fairway wood heads ,and its sensational for this. , very tingy, mid-high launching, u can move it around nicely and u get run, (well not in the 5 w) like the diamana blue ,but with more feel. this club is huge i was gobsmacked , id guess its like 15-20 yards over my trusty big bertha /ozic 5 wood. and its easier to hit whcih i dint think was possible. ! i cant wait to find a 3w and put my quadra fire 65 s in it. i dont know what im going to do with all my others if the 3w plays anything like this . im so impressed by this 5w its the best/easiest club ive hit this yr. the only draw back , but its not really ,is that horrid sound. after i see where the ball lands , botheredsville what it sounds like! its almost like a normal 3w, just a lot higher flight. why i didnt listen to this forum months ago ill never know!

TOP OF THE LINE LOW SPIN SHAFT SHOOTOUT
sure..., i play off 3.5 .. im 181cms... 105 kilo...slow tempo... ss gets to 47-49 (about 105-110) i think that equates to , just changing my swing a bit trying to get more rounded i was coming over the top too much, met a great teacher a few months ago , been a big help. its made a differnce in accuarcy and flight, but length is down some . im trying to go from a fade bias to a draw bias, its working slowly , thats why im favouring the draw biased clubs at moment, thats really imprinting a good thought in my head, i was a cricketer ,which is horrendous for a golf swing, everything in cricket ur taught is get on the front foot ,so in golf my hips slide massively, thast the hardest thing im having trouble countering. but, good drives still get out towards the 300 mark. average about 270ish i guess. shingo katayama has been in the top japanese pros , for the last few yrs. till now.., he moved across to on-off last yr i think. daiwa made his signature shaft, he plays it 46.75 inch , they released either 150 or 450 to the market ..,not sure, but not many any way. and now a cpl have started popping up in second hand bins ,they go immediatly they turn up, and still sell for for about 70 00 with a head or 50 with out. shingos the one that wears the funny cowboy hats. was in the mix on day 4 at the masters this yr or last i seem to remember. i bought one to see what it was like and was gobsmacked. ive had a standing order to call me anytime one turns up and 3 have in the last month i bought them all ,my buds got one i got 2 . im a shaft freak, play everything . i kinda keep to a trend of heads so i get a fair minds eye view of how they all play , right now im bang into yamaha yonex and daiwa. tokyo rips for used stuff in brilliant condition. and you get a good buy back guarantee so u can sell back to the shop for a limited loss if u so chose, , my down stairs looks like a premium japanse golf shop. just loaded with joy. i move the ones i wont use much agn, and keep most others, mates buy em, i re do them, keep tinkering, a club hos work is never done! its agreat hobby. i love it.

TOP OF THE LINE LOW SPIN SHAFT SHOOTOUT
il do my little spot on what i mentioned above. i have had quite a few sessions, and a few games recenlty with these beauties. all were excellent but 1 or two stood out......., the quadra fire express 65 xs has been my fav for a long time ,low spin really tight dispersion low launch lots of run, ive been gaming this for months and suprisingly the best head its been on is the 07/08 burner tp 10.5* this, i will never change. ihad it on the 9.5 , but its too low for me, not enough carry distance , the 10.5* is brilliant everything ive hit this shaft against hasnt stacked up....... till now.........! the diamana stinger 60s in a yonex nextage head10* at 44.75 318 gram d4 sw. mid flight trajectory is gunbarrell staraight .theres a bit of moveablity at the end of the flight and i tend to turn this club over. the length isnt great but the accuracy more than makes up for lost distance. i hit it on sat smoked some bombs, it feels like a diamanablue on roids. bit more rubbery than the blue which is kinda dead.brilliant!, but dead(ish) anyway tis a top shaft i think id like this in another of my yamahas heads tho. i think this wud be a killer combo. the tight dispersion is fantastic AND the miss hit were the least punished and with the most distance than all the other sahfts. thats the best thing about this, u can def feel a difference in the material , theres no vibrations at all i n the shaft its just kapoooooow. nice thwack sound the crazy black 50 8.2 x..., ive been hitting this a lot, its in the new yamahav201. and im loving it, now it plays at 44.75 318 x d0(yes not ideal but) i had an awsome sesshy last night with it, in my first game i was hitting it a little high, but iliked it , its got a superb feel very milky ,very smooth with just the smallest kick at impact to catapult it, its a soft x for sure very very smooth, this club has definatly one of the nicest feels of any ive hit. and the short length doesnt penalise the distance i can get. its longer than the yonex for sure. workability is excellent . feel superb over, a all v good shaft, best thng is theres an 80 in a shop im going to pilfer tonight , cant wait for that! the look of this is really cool as well , black is bling! a players shaft for sure ,of the x shafts this is the softest but smoothest, not as long as the qaudra but not too far behind. the roddio pentacross w6ba... ive been using this for a while, in lots of head. it has a lot more kick than most others but not as tight and alot more flexible. this goes left alllll day if u can control a draw then this thing is supeb. the roddios in general communicate feel much quicker than everything ive hit. maye be the matrix is close but with the roddio u know instanly what u have hit , i LOVE this feel ,its a lot more "ping than thwack sound/feel " , much higher launching. not ideal for windy days , suits slower swing speeds much better. and on lighter heads IS THE PERFECT SHAFT. on my yamahas d series head. i can murder this, nothing else on this head suits better, light heads = this shaft! the roddio m i7..., this is on the onoff red 2010 head and its become my favourite over the last few weeks.(until) .., its a stronger heavier lower shaft than the 6ba. the length on the set up is great .9* and it sposed to be for average players...,, ba-bowwwwww.., i kill this driver, its got mid flight with good roll agn the roddio u know instantly how u have done on the swing. not quite as pingy as the 6ba a bit more rubbery feel ,not much , only a tiny bit but it s noticeable . def a better shaft for the better drivers. LOVE THIS the ozic f6m2 i agrre totally with above the shingo spec m6..., farrrrrrrrrrrrrrk meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. ! kaboooooooooooooooooooooooom. the single best shaft ive ever hit end of chat. happy gilmour would have a hard time not hitting this far and straight . i got 2 one in an on off red one i n a get this ..,47.75 inch J pros old club with a 2002 TM r7 head, not sure which pro the guy wudnt tell me. . i hit it last night ,about 40 shots took me 20 to get used to the length id guess it was going 20+ yards furhter than anything else i was hitting . the term that you used ilove , "effortless soaring bombs" leaps to mind. the trajctory is low to high and it turns over its a draw machine. BUT the initial flight is dead staright then turn over after the apex and rolls out, i went mad with this took the long handle stepped back and smashed the daylights out of the ball and it handles it with ease. no idea how a shaft made for a tiny J pro suits me so well but seriously this WINS. the tension in the shaft just realeases in to yr hands at impact like nothing else. for me simply the best, i dont know if anything can top this BUT....... its 92 000 yen it sposed to be good! overall summary IF god forbid i ever had to have just one........,. id take the shingo all day every day . the next is still the quadra, then a blanket over the others. the mi7 was the biggest surprise , the crazy and the diamana stinger the smoothest. seriously all superb shafts ,only one i really want to try now is the crazy 80 that might just up things a notch, we shall see........................,

Yururi Seida Rupas Wedges
yea i do., i love them but theres a bit of a differnce you cann notice between the new grooved wedges and the old for sure. if u a re going for new grooves, then these are really good., very soft. the spin out sdie say 70 yards from the fairway isnt as noticable as the closer u get to the greeen. they look real ly good sit beautifully. just a big call going to new grooves if u dont have to.

2010 yamaha v 201 4.6 10*
first round with it yesterday. lovely look, and the black new iomic grip is beautiful. the length i thought might be a little short, but was not at all the first drive,a 270 draw down the left centre told me i had something i was going to like here, and after 9 holes , iwas chuffed. at address the pear shape is there ,but is not as noticeable as previous models, which i like . the feel is fantastic. that typical yamaha thump, not hollow no face compacting , just shoot and watch the ball fly off the face. beautiful sound, def a thwack not a ting.. the shaft set up works fantastically well, its non biased and slightly higher launching than my other shafts but thats not a bad thing. distance was good with some solid run , draws and fades with ease so workability not as isue. at address the club doesnt favour one side , i t looks like it wants to be hit wherever u want it to go., ill say its for better palyers, rather than anyoine , the d version is much more forgiving and easier tio hit. but this new one is def easier than the previous models. i substiituted this at 9 holes, with a new on off 2010 red 9* rodddio m i7 shaft. which i hit just as well, these 2 clubs are now my clubs i will keep. the rest have served their purpose and are ready to move on. i wont say one is better than the other here. bec they are differnt and suit differnt syles but i loved both equally. i will say , that for me......, the yamaha is the best feeling head ive ever hit and that the onoff set up is impossible to beat. luckily now i have both.

Royal Collection
no, but i had them on standy in a used shop ew weeks ago. but decied on keeping my bbd type h 2 wiith the diamana blue. instead. , they are a littel smaller and look absolutely sensational, they had diamana whites 73 s in them, but at 35000 apiece used.,. i didnt think that difffernerce from what i have was worth the added expense. BUT., if i didnt already have my ones i would have taken them i n a heart beat. roy coll fws are sensational.

crazy black 5o
i havnt hit this yet but i have access to one to put in the a v 201 yamaha , but idlike to know what to expect b4 i go ahead the guy said it was a a low launch.. but really stiff. stiffer than my qaudra, does this sound ok to go with ? guys who have hit this shaft i pls. they said it was an x flex. ok here goes., i played this in ( 8.2 x) for a few weeks. its a superb feeling shaft , very direct repsonse to your hands and firm i played it in the yamaha v201 10* head at 44.75 inch . i found is had a tendency to push right, the flight is mid launching and long low spin. not as loa launching as the quadra fre express. def not as low actually. the feel is really quite special. its got a glassy feel but with some give when u middle it and turn the ball over its a really beautiful feel , if u have a tendancy to hook then this would be a great shaft , unfortunatly i push the ball so the results for me on this were pretty bad when i didnt get it turned over. too much to bag im afraid, bec i loved the feel. i changed the shafts over from this to the quadra so i could have a face off. been dying to do this for a while. the quadra is a lot more direct it has no bias that i can notice . length wise its a toss up i have hit some monster balls with both of these shafts but i gotta go for the quadra FOR MY SWING. i like the feel of the crazy better. but the results are better suited to a slicer with the quadra. if ulike ot take the left side outta play then this is pretty hard to beat, a LOT better than the gd di series IMO.if i can fix my swing flaw and turn drivers over more often , then i will DEFINATLY put this in somwhere. it might just be i need a slightly softer flex. il try al ot to be able to bag this somewhere bec i loved its feel . however one must urge caution to the "pushers " amongst us. theres better suited shafts , but this is definatly in the fianal of my favourite feeling ones.

- jdm h huge 7 iron a thon..,
i picked up some new epon sets a cpl of weeks ago and my bud has been dying for a hit with them since i got them, . its 36* in tokyo town all week and just horrendously oppressive! we decided to go to the range a cpl of nighs ago before we allowed ourselves to get comfortably numb consuming copious amount of asahi super dry & grapefruit chu hi's watching the gorgeous J - girls parade around Akasaka ,so instead of taking full bags we take the 7irons to chek out the -likes-dislike off all our sets. just for something a little differnt the combatants were epon 302---ns 950 s epon af-tour--kbs tour s kyoei v muscle--ns1050x fourteeen tc 1000--ns950s tour stage 901--ns950s nizing prototype.--dg s300 miura cb1006--dg s300 yururi flatback.---dg s400 TM tpforged--ns950s bearing in mind this wasnt an exercise in maker vs maker, more , a desire to see if there was anything we have that jumped off the page by only hitting the 7 iron in uinison and what conditions each iron set would suit best. heres what we thought discussed over the afformentioned chu hi frenzios that followed............., KYOEI v muscle ........, this was a very stable very direct club. the feedback is fantastic u know if u middle it or if u dont immediatly . there was however a noticeable loss of disatnce on non centered shots and a small loss of feel. workability these are outstanding. middled shots are awsome. not super soft not rock like beautiful iron. comp play springs to mind. TM tp....., A very soft palyers iron, workability better than the other non blade irons ,distance good ,feel superb. non centered shots werent overly penal, and centered felt brilliant . they have a smaller head than most cavities . excellent club. performance springs to mind here. YURURI flatback......., tiny head. the smallest offering by a way. quite daunting to look at if ur not used to them. workability just rediculous. easily the most workable . centered shots just pure. miss hits very penal . there is a huge distance loss and direction loss on bad shots . but when u get them clean whoa dragon! .trajectoy mid high.. higher than expected against the others which surprised me. old world charm is my menatl piccy of these. good iron palyers only need apply theres no respite. EPON AF TOUR.... the softest blade, by a long way. good distance and good trajectory mid low. fora blade off centerd shtos wernt overly penal, and centered .......well. perfect! .....,workability is excellent the best blade. (btw the kbs tour in them are awsome .., tks eponfreak) shoot the lights out is how id descibe these. TOUR STAGE 901....., very small head super thin sole ,the thinest by a long way. these we decided are the best for wind play. the trajectory is LOW very low, workability sensational. u tend to err towards an extra club with these bec of their size...., feel is very good not as soft as the epon, but very good for a specific round. links golf springs immediatly to mind . MIURA cb1006....... ,straight lined at address flat sole base. the squarest looking club. , feel is solid def not soft like butter. trajectory mid. distance very good. maybe the longest. moveability very good , they are easy to control with out gettitng super snap/ slice tastic. solid every day club . if i cud have one set only and it was these, they would do perfectly. no complaint or longing for another set. i didnt think they were best feeling not the worst. solid sums these up prefectly. NIZING proto..., my japanese clubmakers own design , like the miura a more solid feeling at impact. lovely to look at simple effective design , i think made for mid handicappers . moveability good , but off centered shots were quite penal. good distance. surprised he didnt make a lot more of these the look alone wud sell. cost efffective simplicity springs to mind. FOURTEEN tc 1000..., i wrote i wasnt overly mad on these not long ago. but in this co and as a comapre contrast exercise these were my biggest surprise. very light mid high flight , moveability ok. quite a soft feel ., at address the look a bit thicker on the top line and an ever so slightly larger head. these were so impressive this time i aint selling em any more. every day springs to mind. EPON 302......., although this was not the object of the exercise, (we were looking to see exctly what we cud do with the same no. iron not do a "vs" thing ) there emerged a very "clear winner " these are just sensational. the softest sweetest club., the trajectory, the distance the stability just perfect. workability fine without being too stong, off centered shots were rewared the most . distance very good. and simply beautiful to look at. the best looking design and at address. not square not round. head size not big or small the tiniest offest noticeable. the feel, omgod. nothing comes close. absolute perfection springs to mind. and i havnt played them yet, that joy comes tomorrow.- epon 302/ af tour combo set .
i put the kbs in them , they are absolutely perfect.- nizing forged.
My clubmakers range here in tok. . hes got so many little brands in there i get a new trial every week ,some of the woods are just incredible. baldo, ptune..., he makes his own limited set of clubs ,theres a driver,a fairway ,3 wood & utility and in irons theres a cavity and these players iron sets and a cpl of wedges. made from s25c forged in himeji they are very easy on the eye. solid at impact, gets good distatance and mid trajectory . smallish head. top line quite thin, base is medium bodied. nothing flash about these at all, just a solid easy to play players iron .- epon 302/ af tour combo set .
chaps living in tokyo has certain advantages. i hate to tell you guys this..., i JUST bought a set of af -tours heads a cpl of days ago on the forum here. which i got yesterday morning absolutle beautiful, was very chuffed, THEN at 10.45am not 20 mins after they arrived. yesterday i got a call from my local shop.., 2 thats right, 2 sets came in a set of af302 and a set of af-tours , somone owned both and for some inexplicable reason didnt like them! and chopped out.. i jumped on the scooter at lunch and hooned down there to have a look . did then manly thing..., bid him low for both sets and got hit immeditaly. the a 302 didnt look like they had been hit the af tours were obv. his gamers. (now ive got 3 sets , 1 is going str8 back to oz , the others are sitting here with me. what planet am i on!) i hit the 302 last night at the range. NOW i see what u guys been talking about , the veil has been lifted. they came with a lovely set of dark blue iomic grips on them . just magnificent. i have a question tho , i was going to pull a set of kbs tours and put them in the af-tour heads i bought form here. . i think the standard shaft they come with is a the dgs300 which i have a set of as well and like. but i really want to put the KBS set in them i hit the 302 with the ns pro 950 gh s and they worked brilliantly, loved them i n these heads! any pros/ cons for KBS , anyone using the kbs set up, bec thats what im leaning towards ??- Back from the dead - what's up in the land of JDM clubs?
ive got a cpl of Ali'isleis , a 73s and 73x in my 15 and 18* diablos and they do work well in fws...., much better than in a driver i think. off the deck they seem to be pretty low launching with a small upward kick towards the apex then good roll out, i find they are not the best for landing on greens tho. i find them much better for hitting towards the green that landing on it. From a tee , ( a really low tee) they get a lot more rise and less roll . not overly keen on hitting these from tees. BUT..., my trusty old diamana blue 73x is my best performer. (gotta hammer it a bit off the deck thats granted, as its an X , but from a tee , its easily the best.) ive got them in my Royal collections 15* 17* fws and they work brilliantly for me. no bias just super solid instills total confidence for any shot i need. the others set ups ive got are an ozic xcon 6 in a TM burner tp 13.5* and a big bertha a 18*( that thing is superb) the xcon has a nice high launch profile, and is absolutely prefect for landing on greens .easily the best shaft for that, and the xcon seems to have a small fade bias with not a lot of roll(for me anyway) so i can go dead at a target and it stops dead. i have a kaili 70 s in a birth 15* which im liking ,but not as much as the blue. ( im still r testing that set up) ive treid a few graphite design ev6 s and x in my roy colls, and found them harder to get in air with ease. i found i was swinging hard to launch it but its gets a lot of roll these things just go, i think they are very good for very hard swingers, i see a lot of these in fws in used bins here. - jdm h huge 7 iron a thon..,
