  1. From what I heard, the 302 are much more difficult to hit than the onoffs. Comparable might be the Yamaha Inpres X V Forged (non Tour) or the new Tourstage 707. Haven't played any of these. These suggestions come from what I have been reading. Tario, Chris or Tats can chime in here.
  2. Hi guys, anyone played this driver? Any information would be appreciated.
  3. Beautiful set. Congratulations! Hope they work out for you. Welcome to the dark side
  4. High modulus from Roddio??? That sounds very exciting!!!
  5. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but how does the Bridgestone Driver play? Maybe someone has even experience with the 450 ccm model. It has gotten some good reviews. Is it any good for a SS of around 100 mph?
  6. Welcome to the egg spoon party;) Which model did you pick up? The new or the original one?

Just found the Golfdigest Japan Hotlist 2012. Was surprised to see the Yamaha Inpres X V forged irons "only" win the silver award. In front are the so called "low quality" USDM irons, like Titleist AP2. How come?
  8. For new gear, you should probably have a look at Geotech. They have some nice looking irons. Don't really know how good they are. Tario can probably elaborate on that.

    If you want to have your SS from mph to m/s it's a simple calculation: 1 mile = 1609,344 meters 1 hour = 3600 s So for example if you have a 96 mph SS: 96 miles/hour = (96 miles * 1609,344 meters/miles) / (1 hour * 3600 seconds/hour) = 42,91584 meters/seconds = 42,91584 m/s
  10. Got a good deal on the onoffs with the ns pro 950 stiff shafts and couldn't resist and pulled the trigger. Played 18 holes with it and couldn't be happier. Feel is nice and soft of the face and very forgiving. Size of the head is slightly on the larger side. Bigger than my previous irons which was actually surprising. Actually this is the only downside to these irons. A more comapct head is just more apealling. The 8 - PW do not feature a tungsten weigted sole/cavity like the lower lofted irons and I they do feel a little different. They feel even softer. I really love this feel. I played terrible, but that was just the indian not the arrow. I think the irons are great and will help my game a lot since they make the game easier for me due to the increased distance. Easily 1 to 1,5 clubs longer than my previous irons. I know that has a lot to do with the stronger lofts but that changes your mindset. It's a lot easier on your mind when you have a 6 iron in your hand instead of a 5 or even a 4 iron. Since I really played bad, I could fully test the club's forgiveness;) They are really very forgiving. Shots hit slightly thin travel almost with no distance lost. Shots on the toe also feel very, very stable and don't lose much distance. To me they are still workable even given their size. Drawing was much easier than fading for me though. Might have something to do with the shaft. Feels somwhow easier to turn over. Really like the feel of the shaft. So smooth. Difference of night and day comparing to the project x flighted I played before. I was even surprised I could keep the flight low if I wanted. Really look forward to playing this year. Hopefully, I will have more time and get to play more than in the previous years.
  11. Not sure how the newer Yamaha heads feel like, but if they are anything like the model from 2010, there are not many others that feel as good as them.
  12. Do the onoffs have any serial numbering visible?
  13. How do the onoffs compare to the 2012 yamahas v non tour and maybe throw in the tourstage 905 cb? Forgiveness and feel wise?
  14. Just on a side note. I had also had a chance to hit the ns pro modus3 shafts a few weeks earlier. I heard many good things and again, I really wanted to like it. But I believe people with my ss should stay away from it. While it is certainly a good shaft, it needs much more effort to make it work. I have always been playing shafts around 110g. I'm considering now switching to a lighter shaft after testing the ns pro 950 in irons. Much easier and longer.
  15. Great shot, Dale:) I do like the Yamahas and my heart says i should go with them. But my head says I'm better of with the onoffs. Hmmm, we'llsee.
  16. 3 degrees difference between the onoffs and the fourteens explains a lot. But roughly 20 yards???
  17. Had a chance to hit the above mentioned 7 irons on a flight scope indoors. The onoff and the fourteen were shafted with the ns pro 950 stiff and the yamaha with dynamic gold standard shaft. Unfortunately, the heads were taped up quite heavily , so feel could not be transfered one to one. Just a quick information on myself. I'm about a 18 hcp and a driver ss of about 100 mph with an avarage tempo. So this might be more interesting to the mere mortals between us that can't hit 300 yard drives. My hcp is mostly due to lack of playing and therefore poor driving and putting. Iron play is prerty good. I started off with the onoff. Like the looks of it a lot. Not too small but also not like a shovel. Same goes for the top line. It gives you enough confidence without scaring the hell out if you. With my current irons (bridgestone j36 pocket cavities) I hit the 7 iron something like 150 yards. Not sure how much of that is carry coz i have never been to a launch monitor with mine. That is on course experience. First hit on the flight scope with the onoff showed 170 yards carry dead staight with a nice high but still penetrating ball flight. Was kind of embarassed because that shot was so good. The I thought maybe the numbers were juiced up or it was a lucky shot:) Second and 3rd hit same thing. Then I started thinking, maybe were on to something here. I hit a few more balls with the same results. I don't really want to elaborate much o feel since they were haevily taped to protect the face but they felt very soft which i like. I think for my ss the shaft suits me very well. A lot of feel to it which I'm not used to since i play project x shafts which are quite harsh. All in all, I was really impressed. But i was still not sure how to judge the unbelievably good numbers. Second of was the fourteen. Looks wise also very sexy. A slightly smaller and more compact shape but not by much. Definetly less forgiving and harder to hit than the onoffs in my opinion. Trajectory was a tad higher but not as penetrating. Distance was way shorter than with the onoffs. Averaging 151 carry. Feel was also good but not as nice as with the onoffs. I have to say these were not for me. Last came the yamaha tours. Much smaller package and slighly heavier feel. Felt also very soft. Distance was better than the fourteens and shorter than the onoffs. Averaging 163 carry with a much lower ball flight tha. The other 2. Not sure if this is due to the shaft. Schaft felt dead comparing to the ns pro 950. I was surprised to see that these were actually quite forgiving given their size. I felt these were even more forgiving than the fourteens. Might have been that these just suited me better somehow, but between the fourteen and the yammi tours i would have chosen the yammis even though, i never saw myself as hitting anything that is branded tour. Final subjective conclusion of the session: Onoff Forged were the winners hands down for me. I love Yamaha gear and i really wanted to like the yamahas. But the numbers couldn't lie. Distance, dispersion, forgiveness and feel were unbeatable. At least for my game. They seem to be a perfect match for me. Not sure what made them.be so much longer than the others, but it worked. I'm guessing the lofts are stronger. Second place goes to the yammi tours 2011. I happily game these as well, but the onoffs were just in another league for me. Third to me were the fourteens. They are certainly good irons. But somehow they did not suit me.
  18. Hi Folks, had a chance to hit the Honma Beres Pro 7-iron in a black finish today indoors. It was shafted with a NS Pro GH950 stiff. I never really had Honma on the radar. Especially not the Beres Pro model, since i am not a player type of golfer. I was actually just curious to see if I could handle this club. As mentioned before, the club had a black finish to it. Looking down at address it looked very nice. A tad small heel to toe for my taste. Kind of intimidating. But the black finish looked beautiful. Nice clean lines a address. Small cavity but not visible at all at address. Not too round which I like. I don't really care much for the red badge in the cavity, but it's not visible once the club is behind the ball. Performance wise I was really surprised. Not sure what it was, but I was middling it on all of my shots. They had a trackman there. Don't remember all the numbers but I remembered smash factor on all shots being around 1.4 and higher which I was told is pretty ideal on irons. Feel was also really nice. I would describe it as soft and solid, but still with some "zipp" to it. The club seemed to be producing good ball speeds. Mid launch. To my surprise spin numbers with the NS Pro GH950 S were quite low according to the Honma rep. Bear in mind that I was hitting it indoors, so I could not really follow ball flight. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by this model.
  19. I know this driver is pretty new. I like the looks of the driver and would like to know if anyone already hit these and has some feedback.

Ah, happy to hear a rare review on Roddios. I still have my old trusty Roddio 6W-BA (thanks to stew) and couldn't be happier. Well, I have never hit a crazy or quadra shaft, so I can't compare. But I'm very happy with the performance now.
  21. Very interesting post. Looking at my bag, I use stiff flex shafts on my driver an 3w. I feel a bit more confortable with that. The shots feel more controlled to me because these are the clubs I like to rip it (well, at least for my standards). On the irons on the other hand, i prefer as soft as i can handle. The just feels better to me. It gives me more feeling for the shots. I try to be smoooth with the swing and more controlled. Not sure that makes any sense, but that's the set up i feel most comfortable with.
  22. Not sure you meant that, but I have a stock M43 PRGR shaft from the original Egg Spoon. PM me if you are interested

Great Driver. Have the same head sitting firmly in the bag. GLWS!
  24. Just wanted to wish everybody a happy new year. I love reading posts here at TSG and hope the coming year will be as intersting golf gear-wise as it has been. Keep up the good work guys!
