blade choices of recent times ............
Good to see someone is still continuing with their MB mission in life!!! I've not touched a new set of MBs since I got the Shinagawa MBs. Even those are occasional play only. After my County Am tournament experience, I decided to go pursue something much more forgiving than the Miura CB-1008. It'll still be forged Carbon steel. Just not anything that is compact or has too thin of a sole. ๐.

Cleveland Japan 588 RTX 2.0 Precision Forged Wedges
Why not? I always wanted a 46 deg wedge to replace my PW from my set. So many players are doing it now.

Cleveland Japan 588 RTX 2.0 Precision Forged Wedges
Very impressed with these RTX 2.0 Precision Forged Wedges. So much more spin I need to throw the ball closer to the pin to get the right distance. Also seems like the teardrop shape is helping me aim the target better. There was also a Cleveland sponsored wedge clinic at one of the local ranges and so I went on Friday. Didn't really teach us much but the package included a free Cleveland wedge, a sleeve of Srixon Z Star balls and a beer! Fun Friday afternoon 2 hour session. After the clinic I ordered the USDM RTX 4.0 46 deg raw finish ( sadly but not surprised that the rep had no access to JDM versions) to go with the rest of my new wedges.

Cleveland Japan 588 RTX 2.0 Precision Forged Wedges
The shape of the face is definitely teardrop and a more straighter top line. Been to the range a few times and I am really liking them. Just cant believe how soft it feels. Been a while since I have had such soft feeling wedges, Still wondering if it's the S20C head or the S200 DG shafts or a combination of both. Been using Modus Wedge 125 exclusively for the past year.... I need to take these wedges to the practice greens and get used to the different shots. This got me looking into their newer Japan only RTX 4 Forged wedges but unfortunately they seem to have dropped the 54 deg offering, Japan's popular set up is still PW, 50, 56 or PW, 52, 58 US players seem to like PW, 52 56 60 or PW, 50 54 58.

Cleveland Japan 588 RTX 2.0 Precision Forged Wedges
Just took delivery of a 50 54 58 set of Cleveland Golf Japan's 588 RTX 2.0 Precision forged wedges. I guess some regions outside of Japan got these as limited edition wedges but I don't hear too much about them. Hideki Matsuyama's feedback is apparently incorporated in the overall design. ( Part of what got me interested ) They have compact teardrop profile and made of S20C. It says "Made in Japan" on their website but who knows these days... Honestly, I haven't really taken notice for these wedges at all before recently ... but these are essentially Cleveland's version of Japan only Vokey Forged Wedge. What's really interesting on these wedges are that the finish of a single head uses 3 types of finishes, back face is mostly satin finish and there is a strip of mirror finish on the trailing edge the sole and then the rest of the sole and hosel are beads shot finish. Very interesting. Laser milling on the face too. I've not hit them yet but just chipping a Tour B XS ball on the carpet ... Oh boy!! Feel off the face is incredibly soft! I mean marshmallow soft! Could be the combo of S20C + Dynamic Golds... The main reason I'm going to a 50 54 58 set up is because I've encountered too many occasions in the last couple of years that a 52 deg full shot came 5 yard short of what I needed and with a 46 deg PW iron set, it just made better sense to have a 50 54 58 rather than a 52 58 which I have been using for the majority of the last 10 years. I'm really looking forward to getting used to them.

Snohomish County Am
Harbour pointe was hard!! Everett CC is really nice!! My golf was crap though!! 44,44 =88. The warm weather totally throwing off my distances. Normally hit my 8 iron about 140 but I flew past the green from 148 out!! Had 3 or 4 shot like that today. I guess I donโt know my distances too well. 3 days of tough golf ! Was fun though.

Snohomish County Am
Did ok on the front but totally blew the back with a 39,46 =85. Since Iโm pretty much out of the race Iโm playing my Seven x Shinagawa MBs , Grandista Driver and Modart woods tomorrow.

Snohomish County Am
Yeah playing tips all three days. With my current hdcp, they put me in 1st flight with the big boys who play to plus hdcp. Best gross today was 68. Several of them actually. My goal is to shoot under 80 all three days.

Snohomish County Am
This weekend I am in the Snohomish County Am tournament. Today I shot 77 (40,37) which was not bad for me considering rainy conditions for the entire round. Tomorrow and Monday are at harder courses but weather should be nicer.

Mizuno ST190G impression.
Got my Kurokage XD 60 S today and put on a Mizuno adapter and tested it against a couple of other shafts in the ST190 head. KK XD 60 S vs. Tour AD TP6 S vs. Speeder TR 569 X. Out of the three shafts, surprisingly the TP6 felt the stiffest... not boardy but stiffest. Speeder TR in 569X felt a bit corse overall and did not look to be a spin killer. So maybe it's honeymoon period but I really did like the KK XD the best. Flight and trajectory really mimic'd the KK XT 60 S but he XD felt smoother but more stable and consistent. I will play the XD in the ST190 for now , but once I get the Jbeam head, I may use the XD with that.

Wedge bounce: high vs low
nobmontana replied to supo's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearSpeaking of wedges, I just picked up a 50 54 58 set of Cleveland RTX 2.0 Precision Forged wedges. Wasn't really paying attention to these wedges, but these are apparently designed with much feedback from Hideki Matsuyama and S20C forged in Japan. ( have not validated ) Think Cleveland's version of the Vokey Forged , I guess..... All the bounces on these are 10 deg .... which is mid way and I think that's really what I'm looking for in the Pacific Northwest course conditions where it's rock hard dry in the summer and soupy wet in the summer.

Mizuno ST190G impression.
I now have the standard ST190 (non "G" ) in 9.5deg which for me is working better. Much less likelihood of block shots to the right. Just as long. But best of all, the sound is much better with the standard. Built to 44.5" with Tour AD TP 6 S. In the mean time, I am waiting on a Jbeam G-801 head as well as KuroKage XD 60S. Haven't had too much luck with past Jbeam heads but I want to give it another go. I'm really hoping that the Jbeam built to similar spec as the ST190 is as long and forgiving.

Calling PNW TSGer's outing for July or August, 2019
Hi guys, So it looks like this Loomis Trail Golf Course ( https://golfloomis.com/ ) in Blaine, WA might be a good track for us in WA and members in Vancouver BC to meet up and play a round together! I'm thinking of a Saturday or Sunday in July or August. Any preference of a date?

golf heaven = JLPGA tourny course.
nobmontana replied to supo's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearVery nice!!! While I love the, "play golf and then go home" simplicity of US style golf, I do enjoy the full day experience of going to a nice course in Japan starting with a tasty breakfast, followed by a full 1 hr lunch with beer at the turn, then after completing the round end with an Onsen bath to relieve the tension before heading home. We have many Sakura trees planted here in WA but I've yet to see one on a golf course. Such a nice view with the Sakuras.
