  1. Ok cheers Chaps for all the input ... Just to clarify , IF I tip this shaft by 1/4 of an inch what will be the overall out come?, will I ruin the shaft?? Will the ball flight be any lower??( at the mo it's quite a nice high/ hanging flight) As it is it's playable BUT it just feels a little bit whippy... Just a little or do I cut the Butt by 1/2 inch and have a club which will be easy to swing?? Is there anyway of knowing the shaft length without pulling it??, I don't mind removing the grip to ascertain the true length!!

  3. Just out of interest, how the F do you remove the shaft... Heat I'm guessing?, but no flame?
  4. Having re read the above maybe 1/4 inch of the bottom end would be a better option! If this is the case I'll have to take the club to a club fitter ( unless there's a easy way) to have the shaft pulled!! D
  5. To the above... If I cut it I'm only going to trim the butt end!!, as I don't have the ability to pull the head..( oh er ) Is there any way of knowing the given measurement from the point where the shaft exits the Hossel to the butt end?

  7. You might have something there Spoon as the Yonex is only 44.5 long !! Last thing I want to do is ruin the FEX..
  8. Cheers for ALL the quick replies ..... This is a difficult one to try and explain but I'm hitting the FEX well but I noticed that the ball flight is more of a strong draw... Nothing that I could live with if I aim down the right, but now and again when on some tracks this brings the trees and other danger in to play!! So I had an idea to build a club (Yonex nano speed head) with an Aldila Proto VS Stiff shaft BUT trimmed at the Butt end by 1/2 ".... Now this shaft is nothing like the quality or feel of the FEX but God does it Fly straight!!.... Doesn't matter if I lean on it or free wheel the shaft doesn't feel whippy.... The FEX just feels very very soft for a S flex... Having said that it could just be me because although the Yonex is solid and sounds like an explosion off the Tee the Epon is Slightly longer but that could be the draw flight??
  9. I thought losing 1/2" might make it easier to control too? Last thing I want is to ruin I good shaft!!
  10. Hello all... Right I have a Proto Fire Express 65S flex shaft and I'm looking at either changing out the shaft, for something slightly stiffer???(options would be appreciated) OR Do I cut 1/2 inch OFF the Fire Express??,if I do so what would happen to the flex?? Any help would be grateful !!

  17. Yep it's a Yonex Driver Head with a Aldila stiff flex shaft!

  21. Cheers Spoon, I'm after a Firm flex Shaft.... So if I tipped a Reg Shaft by, say 1/2 inch would I be in the right Field??
  22. .... I've found that by just dropping the ball, then positioning the ball using the club head in a nonchalant way.... Works best for me, couldn't even think of using a Tee!
  23. Ok there.... If I was to trim a Stiff flex shaft at the Butt end, what or how would it play??.... Is it possible to create more "whip" feeling ??? Or would I be better to tip a Reg shaft??? I'm only trying to experiment in the black art of club fitting!! ATVB Dale
