Best mallet putter??
Ive had the pleasure of being group with just as many Americans who fit the same description.

Best mallet putter??
"Best" is a relative term. What feels/works best for one person may not be the best for another. The only honest answer to this question is to try out every different putter that you can and decide what you like the best. I really like my Tourstage Kevin Burns Type III. I roll the ball really well with it and it has a nice, soft feel at impact. Before that, I had a Cleveland Classic 2 and it was OK but I had alignment issues with it. I would oftentimes pull putts with it. About 8 years ago I tried a Scotty Cameron Red-X and I absolutely HATED it. I couldnt putt the ball into the ocean with it if I were standing on the beach and I had some serious problems with distance control with it. To me, it just had no feel. Ive tried a few Bettinardi mallets and they were OK but even at the height of my Mizuno obsession I never really liked them all that much. IMO, theyre highly overrated putters. Im sure theres people who loved those putters that I didnt like and thats OK. Thats why they make putters in so many different shapes. Its all it what feels good to you and what suits your eye.

First round with the Tourstage Kevin Burns...WOW!!!
Thanks. Mizuno has the JPX line here in the states and its definetly their game-improvement line. Ive tried out most of it and theyre actually really nice clubs, just not the prettiest irons in the world (big heads with fairly deep cavities). About Mizuno in JDM: message recieved. We'll see how I like these Tourstage clubs. Like I said, Ive always been a Bridgestone ball guy but never really tried their clubs. Between my 3 Tourstage woods and my Bstone wedge, we'll see how I like them.

Any Truck Fans??? GMC Sierra
Gaijin_Golfer replied to AuburnSierra's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearNice GMC. If I were to buy a GM truck, it would be a GMC. GMCs just have more style than their Chevy counterparts (even though mechanically its the same thing) For me though, its all about the Toyota Tundra.

Whats considered to be the best?
Last summer I was at a summer flea market in NE Wisconsin and came across an old Yamaha driver. It was a metalwood and they only wanted $50 for it. I almost bought it and kind of wished I would have.

Whats considered to be the best?
How does Mizuno rate in terms of JDM clubs? Im loving my Tourstage putter thus far and cant wait for my Tourstage driver and 5-wood to get here. Ive always loved Bridgestone's balls but never really tried their clubs before. Ive always heard good things though.

Miura KM005 Putter
Just hold the putter with the face facing up and gently bounce a golf ball off of it. You should be able to find the sweet spot because at one point the bounce will sound different and the clubhead wont move as much. Beyond that, Im of no help to you. Ive only ever seen pics of Miura putters, which are some of the most beautiful, well-crafted putters Ive ever seen.

Whats considered to be the best?
So, as someone who is new to JDM clubs, help me out here. Give me a quick education on JDM clubs. Whats considered to be the best? Whats the best selling brand in Japan?

First round with the Tourstage Kevin Burns...WOW!!!
and just as soon as I say that, I score an Ebay deal on a Tourstage Z-140. The paint isnt perfect on it but the face and sole dont have any wear on them (just bag chatter paint chips) and I got it for $25, so no complaints here.

First round with the Tourstage Kevin Burns...WOW!!!
None yet. I'll have to see if I can get some up tomorrow or sometime this weekend. I bought it for $70 on Ebay and thus far its been worth every penny. Id love to have more JDM clubs in the bag but man, are they expensive. Im not sure that I could convince my girlfriend to let me spend $700+ on a driver or $2,000+ on a set of irons just because they are from Japan. She knows I love Japan but shed probably give me a weird look and say, "arent the Mizunos that they sell here good enough for you???" She doesnt usually question my golf spending, just as I dont question her when she wants to go out to a really nice restaurant or when she wants to spend a ton of money on clothes but theres a limit to that.

First round with the Tourstage Kevin Burns...WOW!!!
Today I managed to get out for the first time they year on the course and this was the first round with the Tourstage putter in the bag and all I can say is, "wow". Ive never been a fan of mallet putters but Im loving the soft feel of this putter and now true the ball rolls with it. All winter I had been practicing putting on carpet but it usually takes me a few rounds to get the feel of putting on grass again but I was rolling it really well with this putter. I made several putts of over 10 feet and even on a few putts that were over 20 feet I managed to lag it up within a few feet of the hole. Looks like I might need to put some serious consideration into more JDM clubs when the time comes. Are Mizuno's JDM clubs really that different than the North American offerings?

Why so many forged JDM clubs?
I agree with you 100%. Its kind of sad that so many have been fooled into thinking that cast is just as good. Im on several other golf forums and some people have gone so far as to call me names and tell me Ive fallen for the marketing just because I prefer forged clubs. One person even went so far as to tell me that my, "hands are lying to me". Oh well, their loss, I guess.
-
Why so many forged JDM clubs?
Thanks, everyone. You pretty much echoed what Ive always felt about forged clubs. Ive hit some Pings that were some pretty sweet cast clubs but even the best cast clubs arent as good as mediocre forged clubs, IMO. It just boggles my mind that in so many automotive applications (forged pistons, connecting rods, wheels, etc) that forged is universally considered to be a more precise and higher quality manufacturing method but that somehow in golf people have convinced themselves that cast is just as good as forged.
-
Why so many forged JDM clubs?
Ive always found it interesting that theres so many companies that forged clubs in Japan but in the states they try to sell people on the notion that cast is just as good as forged. So, it begs the question: why? Why does the Japanese market have such a strong preference for forged clubs? Is it a cultural thing dating back to the days of the samurai or is it just a matter of you guys have known for centuries what some of us in the rest of the world have realized: forged clubs offer superior feel.

2013 Acura NSX
Gaijin_Golfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI think its kind of ugly but its nice to see Honda come out with something new and bring the NSX back. Honda needs to bring out more new product if they want to remain competitive. The Honda name alone isnt enough to sell cars anymore.
