  1. Wow! Best looking Honma driver to date. I can't resist a terrible Osaka-ben pun このドライバーはホンマにかっこいい! Just think a few years ago Honma were pushing that awful Athport line. http://www.tourspecgolf.com/blog/new-honma-athport-iii-series/
  2. Really enjoying the 20.5 driving iron. The feeling is not soft like a Mizuno driving iron but the sound is just awesome - a really sold thwack. It's addictive!! I was hitting shots on a grass range this week thinking 'am I making this sound???' Just waiting for some tungsten tip weights so I can get the 25.5 shafted up and in the bag... I hear that the A Design IYA DO-MO Katayama Shingo has completely sold out in the AW and the SW is selling out fast... Was hoping to demo one when I'm in Japan next month...
  3. I think they'd be the same as they show a SW difference for their different shaft options
  4. I've heard great things about the 911d from my friends in Japan. Its on my radar this year, along with the J-Beam ZY-11 but my numbers for my KP-X are almost perfect for my swing speed...

I agree with Golf Classic! I love that magazine. Golf Digest do the WITB after the Token Tado event so its pretty good in May, then not updated for the rest of the season...

Its not updated very often (usually just at the first event of the season but Golf Digest Japan have them http://news.golfdigest.co.jp/players/
  7. Having hit the Honma and the A-Grind side by side IMO the Homna is easier to hit and 'more explosive'. I guess it depends if you want a long iron replacement or fairway wood distance. Personally I was looking for something 10-15 yards longer than my 5 iron, so the A-Grind fit the bill. They look great in the bag as well.
  8. Love that fairway wood
  9. Lucky you! Could you ask if there is a fairway wood coming? (there must be!!)
  10. Their tour bag is just gorgeous...
  11. That hadn't been released when I hit the 'hybrid' version. However, the owner Yusuke Akou is an ex-Royal Collection employee. He designed the RC TRC UT and the 05 and 06 series - so my guess it's gonna be top notch. The 'hybrid' ( iron style) club has been getting a lot of play on the Japanese tour.
  12. Got the 20.5 UT in the bag great club. Impact is quite 'clicky' for those that like a buttery soft feel. I have the club shafted with an Aerotech i95 stiff. Would recommend a composite shaft with these clubs.

I wouldn't tip taper tip shafts unless you really know what you're doing and probably not even then....
  14. A friend of mine uses the original Gelong driver - he's definitely picked up a few yards from his previous Yamaha driver. Played two rounds with him on a couple of tight Japanese courses and he didn't have one OB. Saying that he is the perfect candidate for an over-length driver - older guy with a slow deliberate tempo....

Looking to buy a Zodia Master Piece 58-05. Ideally head only to keep shipping costs down.
  16. Like Stew I've seen them both (not seen the Grandista shafted up though) . Was very underwhelmed with the looks of the Waccine - so much so that I decided not to even hit it!!! Which is a shame as I rate their shafts alot. Would really like to hear some feedback on the Grandista though....
  17. DG Tour Issue tolerances are 0.5g - essentially they are hand picked S400s or X100 (or S200 in JDM land) - which are then re-badged. They are otherwise no different to to your standard S400 or X100. If they fit you they are a great shaft. My experience is that Nippon Steel tolerances are at least this tight. I would imagine that the Shimadas are pretty tight as well
  18. I'd only be obsessing over spin numbers if those numbers are with the ball you will actually play with on the course.
  19. If you're looking for tight tolerances and superior technology in steel shafts I would look no further than Nippon Steel. Take a look at http://www.golfshaftreviews.info/ its worth taking the time to understand the EI profiles
  20. My vote goes to NOWON. The area of your thumb print wears pretty quickly but the rest of the grip holds up really well. I've always hated soft grips until I tried these....
  21. Post up the exact specs and I'm sure somebody will let you know. But to my recollection Tourstage woods usually had there lowest grade shaft as a 'made for...' Albeit a made for at a higher price point than a USDM made for

They've left the UK market for now as far as Srixon clubs are concerned.
  23. irons look a bit 'techie' for me. Driver looks great though
