Tricked out Honma Wedges by Sakata
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Yes The latest TW-W Forged -
Non conforming @ 110mph+ should be a gain of 10-15yds!

I love sub flexes. While I like soft stepping in irons, I don't care for it in the wedges.

Custom Shafts- How do you know which ones to choose?
TourSpecGolfer replied to Henry's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Just keep in mind there is a difference in upgrade shafts by the OEM in U.S vs JPN. In Japan the OEMs use the actual upgrade shafts, the same ones TSG would sell shaft only. In the US they are watered down and made to look similar to the upgrade shaft, but sometimes say by ______ -
In a nutshell: it's a forgiving players wedge that has a lower trajectory with plenty of spin to compensate for that lower flight.

This is why I want to keep the community small and tight, a bunch of donkeys are soliciting our members when they post general inquiries, most of these guys are new and passerby's just trying to unload what they have without contributing to the community. Examples: 1. Member creates thread seeking feedback about a particular club or a Club A vs Club B post - OP then receives multiple PM's with offers to buy a club another member has for sale and often its not even the club they are posting about. 2. Member creates thread seeking feedback about a particular club or a Club A vs Club B post - Another member then posts in that thread what they have for sale. We need to show some class here gents the B/S/T is created for the purpose of reselling your clubs, if you post you have a club for sale anywhere else outside of the B/S/T it will be moderated which means deleted or warned. If people PM you out of the blue trying to sell you something report them immediately. This forum is intended for sharing info, experiences, and just general golf talk not as a way for a desperate few to unload clubs at any opportunity they have. - No soliciting in forum threads - No soliciting via PM Domo - :)

Custom Shafts- How do you know which ones to choose?
TourSpecGolfer replied to Henry's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Hi Henry, I think you mean aftermarket shafts right? The only custom shafts I know of are Seven Dreamers. Selecting an aftermarket aka upgrade shaft is very difficult, easiest way is just drop me an email [email protected] with the following information: - Age - Handicap - Driver Swing Speed - Current Club/Loft/Shaft/Flex - Bad Shot - Good Shot - Tempo/Transition Speed = Smooth or Aggressive - What problem is your current club having - What 2 performance characteristics do you want to achieve from this new shaft We can start there and I will help squeeze you into something that fits your budget. -
It's not that simple there are two tip sizes used in putters 9.4mm and 9.0mm. Also the thickness of the inside of the shaft tip varies so it not only depends on shaft tip inner diameter but also the variance in the putters hosel. (Not always as stated) So yes we can sell them part only but your club maker has a high chance of making a mistake. Ordering 2pcs solves that though. Sasaya doesn't want returns for this.

Fujikura Speeder ZERO Shaft - 29 GRAMS!!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Slow swinger, senior or ladies. It's highest torque I have ever seen but what you need understand is new materials trump torque now days as in the past torque was used to reduce twist and return the club face to square but it also made shafts feel boardy with no kick, today better materials do the task of reducing shaft deformation and returning it to square i.e 50/80T and various weave patterns so even the players shafts now have more torque. I've not hit this one but I have hit the Speeder Air which is a uniflex shaft that is only about 4 grams heavier and while light is was nowhere near as soft as I expected it to be. -
Introducing VM-Tech by Gold's Factory a putter and shaft insert made of stainless steel and while small it does a few very big things for putter performance & feel. The first is it increases the putter heads verticle MOI from neck to face, horizontal MOI measured from low on the front of the face to the furthest point back, face balance is measured heel to toe while Vertical MOI produces a top to bottom balance adding a little more distance for the same length stroke + more forward roll, but how could such a small piece of metal have such an effect on the Vertical MOI? well because this tiny part is 20 grams heavy which brings us to it's second advantage, your putter head is now heavier so this is not only a good thing for balance and feel but also a cost effective way to increase head weight. Finally when using a steel putter shaft it the VM-tech insert dampens and softens the feel as the shaft vibrates up into the hands this is an extra barrier reducing the harsher vibrations where the putter hosel meets the shaft. So in the end you get a greater Vertical MOI, + 20g weight, and softer feel with better roll. Taking this a step further gold's factory has created gold plated versions of the VM insert which are supposed to better for dampening vibration while adding a cool subtle gold band between the putter shaft and the hosel (pic not shown). The new VM-Tech insert by Gold's Factory sells for about a #100 in standard stainless and $150 gold plated. Please get in touch to modify your putter with this option by emailing [email protected]

Introducing the lightest golf shaft currently available in the golf world, The Fujikura ZERO Speeder Shaft and here are the specs: - 46 inches -29.5 grams - 10.8* Torque - Low Kick Point Prior to this Fujikura had the Speeder Air in the 33g range and I hit that, it was not as soft and whippy as I thought it would be although totally not for me it was interesting, It did help many of our senior customers get higher launch in not only their drivers but also in fairway woods, hybrids, and irons. The new ZERO shaft by Fujikura has an April 15th 2016 release date.

Cool beans gents, it will be some time. I gotta be totally satisfied first.

Yes very different feel when there is an NiCr finish between the ball and the club face. Then there is a wide range of satin or mirror finishes that feel different from each other, it all depends on the maker some go for soft feel others durability or a combo of both. Satin or Mirror alone to me seems more durable than copper + satin/mirror.
-
Many reasons in no particular order good & bad. hide pitted steel add weight to head due to a particular grind removing too much from the base head make it feel softer ( hardly noticeable ) make is seem special (marketing) thats the truth man, feel will come from sole design, overall design, loft, material and make up of nickel content in the finish far more than a copper underlay. It's cool though and depending on the look of the iron I would prefer it over not.
-
I have a few Gold's that folks have never seen. What CT do you have? If I got one from you I would just send the CT to golds anyway. Many people sent their CT's to golds factory. I don't consider it an up and up battle because Golds simply modifies putters, yes they have their blanks but really the glory of golds is the intense customizations they can do to your putter. I would take a custom golds the way I want it over a CT any day, but a CT custom made how I want it from Gold's would be awesome too!
-
No Idea, I don't consider copper underlay a big selling point as it can be done on any iron with a satin or mirror plated finish for next to nothing. It adds about 1-2g head weight also helps hide dings but on the negative it hides details or rounds edges slightly.

To me, all Zodia irons & wedges feel like rocks. I don't know what it is but we never ever had good feedback on them. Love the way they look and Chiba is the man but we have sold a ton of Zodia and people never stick with them.
