Is there a Black Gold version manufactured for the Japan market that plays slightly softer, is slightly lighter and is slimmer from butt to tip than the US version flex for flex. Is this true? If so, where can I get the specs/ Thanks.

Aj, if time permits and you care to, can you compare the Ar-1 to the AF-301s? My real concern is the hosel offset on the AF-301s and with the Scratch, I understand Ari can customize the hosel offsets more or less.

Really looking forward to this although I thinking of Scratch AR-1/EZ-1 combo now.

I'm really interested in trying the Epons Af301 and af 501 combo bt am getting mixed feedback here. So below I plonk down some $$$, I'm hoping ot get some comparisons between Mizunos and epons. I am very familiar with the Mizunos and currently play a crazy set up comprised of MP-33 (8/9I), MP-32s (6/7i) and MX-23 (4/5I) with PXs. I like the amount of hosel offset. I am also familiar with the Gauge Design Studio MBs with PXs. Softest irons ever but more hosel offset than I would like. 1. Does anyone playing the Epons in question have experience with the above Mizunos? Do the Epons have a lot more offset? 2. How is the feel and trajectory? 3. Anyone happen to have or can take side by side pics of the MP-32/33s and the Epons to highlight hosel offset? I know this is a tough request but any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Can you compare the feel to the MP-67s? I'm playing the MP-32s and MP-33 combo. A lot more offset than these?

I think your review environment is great and that you do it over several rounds gives some measure of reliability. The most unreliable reviews are those done purely on a LM or at the range or over 1 or 2 rounds. Thanks for sharing your reviews again.

Aj, Do the Studio MBs still get your vote now after 9 rounds with the AF 301s?

oh crap! You had to say that and seeing how my initial impressions of the Epon 460 is so good, I think I'll have to sell my Gauge Design Studio MBs to fund a set of AF 301s. Anybody?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm hoping it'll play a tad softer then the 6w06 Stiff but hope it won;t be too high spinning. I'm taking it out for a round now although the legth I suspect is 45.25 or 45.5 which is longer than what I am used to.

I'm not familiar with Mamiya shafts. The 6064 says 269cpm which seems a stiff but about bending the shaft with my hands, it seems soft. What does this shaft flex correspond to in say a Fuji rombax equivalent? I've played the 6W06 Stiff. Thanks.

Don't know abou tthe latter shaft and how the UT plays in a FW but in a hybrid, the UT-85 is the best performing and feeling shaft for me. Very consistent performer as well.

They are indeed soft. Probably the sofest I have tried of all forgings less Epons and yes, they do look schweeet!

Thanks for the feedback. I will really appreciate your confirmation on the hosel offset as that is the only thing bugging me about the GD MBs. I'm hoping the Epons will have LESS hosel offset. has anyone played both sets? Which feels better (softness, solid etc)? Which is less forgiving? Which has less offset? Which is better for a mid capper (10 capper)? Shaft for shaft, which hits higher? Not too concerned about shaping shots. Also, how different is the AF-301 to teh Techinica Pro 1? They look quite the same from the back. Thanks.

I have a set of GD MBs but mine has the "studio" stamping on the back on top of top of the muscle in the milling area. I checked a thread in the review section and there was no "studio" stamping in that pic. What does this "studio" stamping imply?
