Red X-tremely unimpressive
One thing I did notice with the Red X is in the bright desert sun it is a little hard sometimes to see the lines but that is my only real complaint. I'm going to repaint the lines black this weekend and give that a try as that may help.

Red X-tremely unimpressive
I would also disagree. However, if we were talking about Rossa putters I would definately agree that the feel is horrible. I just hate their modified rubber inserts. I really like the sound and feel of the Red X. I hope Scotty does the GSS insert on a Newport/Answer style putter as I think that would be sweet. To each their own.

I just saw and tried R7 tour and TP version side by side.
Think about it logically - or at least here is a try. Bottom line the "alleged" differences in the past between the 510TP and tour 510 arguable disappear with the R7. 1 - Sound, people said the tour model was "more solid sounding." Perhaps this was from foaming different weighting can't say for sure but definitely something with internal construction. Well with the R7 you foam it and it will leak out. So bottom line I don't think there will be a sound difference between the two. 2 - Tour 510s were "heavier," which may allow for more preferred swingweights. Well how does that matter since you can adjust the swingweight with the new TLC control system. Why do you need the "heavier" tour head with the R7? 3- Tour model had a "hotter face." The TP line is already a "special" driver is this alleged difference worth an extra 800-1000. The R7 is such an advanced club anyway that such a minor difference may result in what 5-10 yards at most! Would the average amateur or even better amateur see this difference? Maybe maybe not. Some people may claim that the hotter face will result in 20-30 yards but pleeeeease consider the source of this type of claim. 4 - Add ons -- the tour R7s aren't coming with the fun tungsten screw kit so you'll have to add an extra 100 at least to the price of a tour model to get it. The r7 is made to tinker with and dial in your swing so most people will want the kit. Now the R7 TP may not come with your first choice of shaft but you can take the 100+ you would have spent on the kit if you bought a tour model and apply that to your shaft choice. The tour model may not even come with your preferred shaft so to me this category is in favor of the TP. Now supposedly the tour model can have a different lie angle but this is largely unnecessary for the majority of players. Remember the most important thing as DM so eloquently stated is to have clubs that are set up for you --- maybe individuals are starting to realize when you get a tour driver it is set up for the tour player it was made for. If that player has characteristics like you then great if not then that is a recipe for disaster. With other clubs such as irons, wedges, putters etc they are easier to change than a driver in my opinion. Maybe people are finally catching on about tour drivers plus the differences aren't really there in my opinion for the tour R7 v. the TP.

Sweet I can hardly wait to try this club. Thanks for the info especially as to whether the TP is just like the tour model as I'm sure that will be a hotly contested topic in some places

Japan R7 Quad Specs and Information!
I wish the TP came with the w-70 option as that is the GD shaft I'd really like to try. The driving iron sounds quite interesting. Thanks for the info. I'd love to see some pics at address to see how much offset there is. Any chance you can get some pics or will they be up on TM's site soon? What are they going to run? thanks

Anybody seen the July issue of Golf Classic yet? I believe it should be the Masters issue. I was also wondering if anyone had a link to their site? I know a while back I saw a link where one could actually order the magazine if I remember. If you haven't seen the Masters issue it is sweet with pics of everyones bags.

What is fair? Please LOOK!
The debate about the prices on this club is simply in line with the big whines about the R500 and how TM "ruined" the market by dumping them all at the same time. Interesing enough the same individual whining now was the biggest whiner then and has in the past been questioned about other prices (see 704cb, lehman grinds etc). I think it would be nice and perhaps much more justifiable in my mind if tour clubs were at most double the price of retail, as this should easily provide enough profit to operate any "site." However, in reality it is whatever the market will bear and it is real tough to know what the market truely is. There are a lot of crazy purchasers that pay premiums to have a club a couple of months early oh well that is there choice and there is no moral obligation on a sellers part to prevent this from happening but I think price gouging is wrong and this happens a lot especially when clubs are first released. For example some bozo, no offense intended but they are an absolute bozo in my mind, paid nearly 1800 to Jim Butler to get a Production yes that is a Production Red X about two months early -- lets see that is roughly 750 per month to play it. Now whether or not it was wrong for Jim to do this and why should he get such a "privilege" thrown to him from Scotty are two different questions but somebody paid for it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3668129055 Same deal with the R7s if some bozo wants to pay 3000 to play what basically will be the TP model with a suggested retail of 1000 a month and a half early then that is about 333 a week until it is released. Even if you played seven days a week that is about 48 a day to have it early -- sure hope whoever paid that gets 48 a day out of her  What is wrong in my mind though is someone or a small group of people trying to bully and force their prices on the market. Eventually they will hopefully fail but at first they are likely to succeed due to some good old truths ---- Greed and a Fool and his money will soon part ways.

R7... could this spell the end of the Tour Issue...
In the past I know some of the tour drivers I've hit have been "better" than others. I attribute this to whether or not the driver was set up more like what I need to be beneficial to my swing tendencies. Given that you will be able to adjust your own driver now why get a tour driver adjusted for someone else unless you could change it. Now I'm sure they will have a better sound  and be much more solid  - on the other hand it might make getting a tour issue better because then you don't have to go through a bunch to find one that fits you (assuming that you can remove the weights). Time will tell.
