    How/Why are Japanese companies so "great"?

    My surprise is how the Japanese are so "infatuated" when it comes to golf clubs. Like what is the interest with golf clubs/irons/putters. One would assume that some company in England/Ireland would be the dominating company when it comes to this. What is the interest by the Japanese and the seek of perfection with golf equipment. If I remember didn't golf originate in Ireland? I'm not bashing AT ALL. It makes sense that the Germans produce great automobiles. Daimler Benz and Ferry Porsche can be traced into antiquity. But what is it with the Japanese and golf? It would be interesting to read how this great obsession originated..no?

    I'm fairly new here but have noticed that in regards to Tour/Import equipment there are alot of Japanese brands. I'm interested how they became so dominant and respected in regards to quality/performance. I play w/Mizuno T-Zoid Pro's and they are great but some of these I have never even heard of?
