My New Baby-Cleveland XL Tour w/ Roddio
Sorry to be the cynic... but this doesn't add up... the AVIV V Spec is the #1 in consistency and # 1 in feel, per your ratings, and you have NEVER missed a fairway... but the Roddio gives you a extra ten, so thats the gamer... sorry that does NOT compute in my little mind... I'd work on getting the launch angle and spin rate maxed out with a V Spec offering... JAT...

My New Baby-Cleveland XL Tour w/ Roddio
Sorry, but th Hi-bore just does NOT suit my trajectory window... though I agree the AXIV V Spec is a great shaft... for those who need more spin..

Review - EPON 3 Wood 15* with GD Quattro 75S
I REALLY like the AVIX V Spec in 8072 for a fw.... Super nice kick, but very consistent shaft... all the diamana lovers who want to throw the ball in the air a little more, with a heavier weight, this needs to be checked out... great fw shaft

Fourteen UT-106 at address pics

2006: PRGR M3 Hit Fairway Wood!
there are better choices, if your a good player... its a solid product, the backweight area is plastic and cheap looking, and its pretty tingy... nothing special about its foregiveness... good for a lower swingspeed, as its easy to elevate and has a big footprint at address...

MIZUNO MP-57
Okay, the absolute slavish devotion to the cut muscle BS has to go... this club's appearance with that little cut muscle is crap-- I thought the mp-67s were baloney, but this takes the prize. For the life of me, I don't get why EVERY club in the line-up has to employ some cut muscle configuration... the cut muscle does little to NOTHING, and Mizuno's iron line-up would be better served by employing different styling and foregivness at each product level... this looks like a marketing decision gone very wrong ...

Gauge Japan Original MB & MB2 w/PICS!
sorry, there are very few if any irons that command anything approaching their retail price in the collector's market... there are great reasons to scoop up a set of gauge design-- i got a set of the MB-2 becuase they look GREAT, and feel better... but owning for the appreciation in price is a losing proposition...

Hey has anyone hit the fourteen UT-106 ?
VERY big head, with a sunk-in crown ala Cleveland Hibore type head shape.... really looks funky for a UT, though foregiving

The best looking driver from above?
The 460p is a limited edition... it has an open face, and internal weighting to a fade bias, and is very low spin... the shaft is a soft x with a low torque, mid kick (based on feel, specs are unpublished). It refuses to go left (obviously, a pull or similiar lousy swing will take you left). The 430p doesn't look deep enough or big enough-- so for the "compact model" lovers this could be the ticket. I actually prefer the 430 (non p) to the 430p. Different strokes... But the Epon is still in the bag and Its my fave as I fiddle with the Tourstages to get the right set-up... (could they become the gamers? maybe), the tourstage are great looking and feeling.

The best looking driver from above?
I prefer the 460P... a little more muscular looking but still beautiful pear shape... forget about playing a draw with it!! Cut city....

please compare Tour Stage VIQ 2007 and EPON Type S or X
I'd say talk to Chris (aka Tourspecgolfer)... he can get most anything Japan made at a competitive price... Why deal with an unknown retailer when he's an email away? JAT

A Visit to the Epon Japan Factory
Great stuff, Chris... gotta tell you though that for all the wonderful technology and craftsmanship of Epon its absolutely unacceptable that they can't weld a face plate on their driver/woods without a noticeable circle/color change delineating the welded face insert... I've owned 4 Epon drivers and every one has the same noticeable weld/color change that is BIGTIME annoying to look at... Now the 460 is my gamer, and I love it (We'll soon see if the 460P X-Drive knocks it to 2d place), but it bugs me to look at that circular face/weld. Hope Epon is reading this too!!!! Epon needs to get their face metals matched better... no excuses....

quattro tech or axiv v....
Quattro tech is a low kick shaft, and plays a little soft... 75 S isn't going to change much other than add 10 grams... Axiv is a midhigh but plays like a mid kick... the Axiv would be more stable and tip stiff... Look at the the P-7 GD also.

SIX SHAFT SHOOTOUT @ Inpakuto.com
Todd, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe with the parameters of the (1) Winbird club and (2) those 6 shaft options and (3) Tanaka's swing, the question becomes what combo would optimize it.... the Answer is: a launch angle of approximately 15-16 dregees and spin of 2400. Gains from further "tinkering" would be negligable-- probably less than 3-4 yds.
-
SIX SHAFT SHOOTOUT @ Inpakuto.com
Todd, correct me If I'm wrong but the BIGGEST factor in more distance for most players is more LOFT... the incremental gains from spin adjusments seem minimal so long as the spin is somwhere close... thoughts??
-
SIX SHAFT SHOOTOUT @ Inpakuto.com
Great stuff, Todd... best data I've seen!! Based on the choices I'd play the Rombax, and look to get the spin down with a differnet ball!!!

AKIRA TM Driver, Wedges and Hybrid
Well, you might sound more believeable, if the plastic wasn't still on the clubs!!!!

epon460 vs tourstage xdrive 460P
Well my hope is that Tourstage learned from some other "limited release" clubs, like the Maru model that was so low spin as to be unhittable for most, not to mention its 8.5 degree loft. Inpakuto.com has a Golf Gear review that shows pretty good numbers in launch angle and spin rate for mere mortals-- like loft and spin numbers of 15 degrees and 1900 (admittedly a little low) with a 96mph swingspeed... so hopefully guys pushing north of 105 SS should put up good launch and spin numbers, even with a proto GD shaft that is X flex

G-Field - no longer in Pro Shop? Epon prices lowered...
not to worry the product is available... and in the case of the G-field fw and Epon driver you got the two category killers, IMHO... best of breed.
