Epon Press Release: Epon Golf is scheduled to release its new 2009 model AF-Tour Muscle Back Iron this November 20th worldwide. The New AF-Tour Iron is forged by Endo of soft 1020 Japan Industry Standard Grade Steel and features a revolutionary new design to further improve upon forgiveness when compared to traditional muscle back designs of the past. A special die was created to form a slight cavity which lowers the center of gravity and shifts weight from the heel area to the toe producing a center of the face sweet spot instead of traditional blade designs sweet spot located closer to the heel. We are very excited to release Epon's first Muscle back We have worked long and hard to make this new product the Ultimate Blade for the low to mid handicap player.

Can anyone provide information as to the bend profile of the Diamana Thump iron shaft? I think we determined that it's tip is firm, looking for more details on the butt and mid section. I looked at the Mitsubishi website (the overview is in Japanese and can't find any other details on the site). Seen a few blogs, but again, in Japanese and the translations were not very good. Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Much shallower than previous X-Drive's....I like it!

Had a chance to hit the RE*AX 115 yesterday in the TM R7TP. Not quite the feel that I'm looking for...seemed a bit "hollow" feeling to me, difficult to describe. I hit it along with the UST Rv2 115....different heads. No issues with the performance of the RE*AX 115, good ball flight, no excessive spin. I preferred the feel of the UST, but the ball flight seemed to baloon, a lot of spin. The RE*AX 115, though similar, may be a completely different shaft than the Fujikura 115i, so difficult to draw any conclusions. Looking for a graphite shaft that is a bit stiffer in the tip (less spin), perhaps a bit softer in the butt area (enhance feel). Any ideas?

Has anyone done any testing of the Thump iron shaft? Any published raw cpm numbers?

I see that they introduced a new wedge also.

The best fairway woods I hit in 2008.....the Tour model, the regular model was very good too. I will be interested to see how they improved the 09 version.

Randy, Thanks for the initial feedback! You mention that it's the first graphite iron shaft that you really like....have you hit any of the GD Tour AD's and if so, any comparison with the 9E05? I will be putting graphite in my next set. Under consideration are the Fujikura's and GD Tour AD's.....also looking at Axiv and the Diamana Thumps as outside choices. Any other choices?

K2 -- Thanks for the feedback! How did it compare to the Roddio? I believe you play those in your OnOff's. Anyone have experiences with the 9E05?

Anyone have experience with the Fujikura Rombax irons shafts...specifically the 9E05 and 115i? I do not see the 115i on the Fujikura Japan website, is this a U.S. release only?

Is the "Golf Specialist" ready to provide some feedback? Anyone else out there have any early thoughts/insights?

At $15 + over the normal KBS Tour price....that will be one expensive steel shaft! Probably good to produce limited #'s!

I've tried the KBS Tour in 2 different set of irons, didn't like them at all. I know they are the "shafts" of the moment and are getting a lot of positive reviews...just not for me. Rather "dull" feeling to me, difficult to explain feel, just didn't have a crisp feel. I read many comparisons to Project X, but I don't see or feel that comparison at all. They may perform similar but they do not feel the same to me. Many people talk of the "smooth" feeling of the KBS's, the feeling to me is more "dead". My opinion only! If you're a long time 1150 user, I don't see you liking the feel or performance of the KBS Tour, but then again, a lot of people seem to like them and you might....the only way to know for sure is to give them a trial.

For comparison purposes, which shaft did you have in your wedges...1150's?

Any Fujikura iron shaft options available? How about Tour AD Pro's?

Chris and/or others....could you provide any perspective how the CB2006's compare with the Epon 501 spec measurement-wise...i.e. heel-to-toe length, offset, sole width, etc.?

They look great! I'll look forward to the review, comparisons to Epon offerings will be of interest. From other posts, it sounds like they may need a little boring to get shafted up though!
