EPON 2008 New Products w/PICS!!!
Yes, you are correct. I also demoed the 501's 7 iron with KS7001 yesterday and it's very solid. But I honestly can't feel any difference from the Type S at all other than the shaft difference in the demo iron. The only reason I was comparing the 701 was because of the post mentioning that the sole of the 701 might be smaller than the Type S, which it is not. Bat

EPON 2008 New Products w/PICS!!!
Yes. The 701 is longer and more forgiving overall, but I still prefer the profile and feel of my Type S. Plus, with the distance I'm getting with they 701 I might screw up my yardage with the X-UT 21* that I just got. A friend of mine is ready to pull the trigger after the range session yesterday though. Bat

EPON 2008 New Products w/PICS!!!
Well, the sole of the 701 is not smaller than the Type S, although I have not compared them side by side to the Type X. I had a chance to demo a 7 iron in Shimada AC10 flex R at the range yesterday. Despite the strong loft on the 701, I hit it very high compared to my current set. This is as forgiving as you'll get from a forged set of irons IMO. The shaft feels much too light and soft for me. It's very straight and long despite the high launch. The ball seems to explode off the face of the club. It has a noticeable twack at impact almost like when you're hitting the sweet spot on a driver. Sound is similar to my long irons as can be expected from the pocket cavity, just a tad louder. At address it's noticeably larger than my Type S in all respect and has more offset but not a big difference in the top line. Overall, this is a great addition to the new Epon line up. It does not feel anywhere as solid as the Type J but the forgiveness and distance is second to none. Bat

Black Gold Descending Weights
Irons heads are usually around 7 grams heavier as it progress from long to short irons. With the same length shafts that's roughly around 3 swing weights increase for each iron. But don't forget that 1/2 inch shorter for each club will also decrease the swing weight by about 3 points. In other words, constant weight shafts with the same balance profile will produce irons with roughly the same swing weight though out the set. Bat

Black Gold Descending Weights
That's what I thought it should be. But the Black Gold are actually "Descending" weights. Which means the short irons are lighter than the long irons. Personally, I don't see the advantage of descending weight shafts. My theory is that it's harder for TT to manufacture "frequency tuned" shafts with constant weight. Bat On a side note, DG tapered tip shafts are constant weights while DG parallel tip shafts are descending weights.

PRGR IS3 501 or EPON AF-701 ????
I was just wondering if there's a review of these PRGR irons anywhere in the Japanese magazine? Can anyone provide a link to it? Also, does anyone know the profile of their steel shafts? Thanks Bat

NS Pro 950GH or S200, less ballooning?
The S200 has a lower ball flight for me than the 950GH. Bat

Royal Collection 6150TG Wedge
I saw the preview of this wedge on a couple of threads a while back and thought it looked good. Has anyone tried these or know where I can find a review of these anywhere? Thx. Bat

anyone know the cpm of a axiv 6066?
Actually, the 6066 is the 60 grams 6.6 flex (SR) V-Series shaft. I'm sorry I don't have the CPM. Bat

Best cast durable JDM players cavity back set of irons ?
I think the new PRGR IS3 502 are cast, but they might be too 'GI' for what you're looking for. If you like a relatively compact set, you might want to check out Royal Collection's old CV-101. I was told that these are cast but not sure how durable it'll be cuz they actually felt pretty good. Bat

Srixon's New ZR-700 Driver
This could be just what I'm looking for. Can't wait to see the club from address position.

Which is better?
I'm currently using Midsize Tour Velvet on my irons and standard Tour Velvet with 5 wraps of tape on my wedges. First of all, the Midsize is larger than 5 wraps of tape with the standard grip. 6 wraps should get you closer to Midsize grips. With 5 wraps on my wedges the surface patterns are expanded a bit wider and the grip feels a tad firmer than the original. The surface patterns on the Midsize remains the same while feeling a little softer than the standard no wrap Tour Velvet. Bat

Gloss Black TSG Irons
They look great. Very cool finish. I prefer TSG logo instead of the Type J "badge". Not too crazy about red paint fill though. Bat

Hey has anyone hit the fourteen UT-106 ?
LOL. I just saw one of these at the shop yesterday and you weren't kidding! This is one of the biggest hybrid heads I've ever seen (heel-toe). Didn't get to hit it yet but it sure looks pretty forgiving. Bat

I'd also like to hear some reviews on this club. Anyone? Bat

Epon Type J Irons
My Type S has .355 taper tips. I'd be surprised if the Type J is any different. Bat

Tourstage X-Blade CB2
The X-Blade CB2 is one of the sexiest set of irons, IMO. I hit them at the range on several occasions wanting to like them so much. At the end of the day, I have to admit that these are just too much club for me. I was using the X-Blade CB1 and actually missed my old TS-202. Now I couldn't be happier with the switch to my current Epon Type S. The X-Blade CB2 does have a nice solid feel on good impact, and I could see myself playing these with better swing. But for now, I just need a bit more forgiveness. Bat

MID - SIZE : Forged Players Cavity Backs w/PICS!
Beautiful pics as always. The MP-27 still looks great compare to the newer models. The E500 looks a little busy, but for good purpose I'm sure. How do they compare to the other Mizuno models in terms of size and offset? I think the R7 Forged and the MP-60 are a bit small for "mid-size" irons though. If I didn't like my Epon so much, I'd probably be playing the ViQ or the MP-27. Bat

Best 3 wood for what I need (Japanese Brands Only)
Off the tee, I strongly recommend trying the Tourstage X-Drive Fairway with Tour AD Quattro shaft. I've never hit anything as long and feels as good. It's about as long as my current driver but much more accurate. Now, all I need to do is get over my ego, sell the current driver, and tee off with a 3 wood. Bat

Top Line Pics Galore!
Great post Chris. Some of the nicest irons top line reference I've seen. Bat btw, try not looking at the caption and see how many you can guess.

Yururi Jersey Wedge, What finish do you like?
I prefer the one in the first pic. Bat

Trajectory of Epon Technity Driver and 3 Wood.
First of all, my swing speed is only somewhere between 99-104 mph so my experience might not match yours; as I do not generate as much spin for my tee shot to balloon with my current driver. That being said, I've owned the Bridgestone J33R 460 for about 1.5 year. As much as I love the feel and especially the look at address of this club, I like to demo every new driver out in the market when I have the chance. Last year, I demoed the TM425, TM460, FT3, X18, X460, 905R, X-Drive 435, ViQ, D-Max 450, Hi-Bore, SQ, MX-500, and a few others. Honestly, some are a bit longer or a bit more forgiving than the J33R but I did not feel the need to upgrade at all. Just recently however, I demoed the current offerings like Epon 460, Superquad, FT5, Hi-Bore XL, X-Drive 460, and ViQ MX. I hate to say this but most of the newer models I tried are noticeably more forgiving AND longer than my J33R. That being said, I'd imagine that the J33R 460 might still be what you want if your main concern is too much spin. My current combo has a very low spin, but it also has a very low launch angle (too low for me with my current swing). The Epon 460 will launch the ball much higher than the J33R while maintaining a relatively low spin. FWIW, I also have trouble launching the X-Drive 460 high enough but that might just be what you're looking for. Bat

Epon 460 Driver: Conforming vs. Non-Conforming ???
In my experience, the 10.5 Conforming and the 9.5 Non-conforming Epon 460 has very similar trajectory. I would suspect that the non-conforming version has a lower or deeper CG than the conforming version. It also has a slightly higher pitch sound at impact. I've only hit these at the range so it's really hard to tell if there's any distance gain at all. From what I heard, the non-conforming version is not recommended for players with very high swing speed due to the durability of the face. Bat
