  1. I know the US.Spec. "regular" Superquad has .350" tip. Does the Japan Spec "regular" Superquad that comes with the RE*AX 55 has the same tip diameter? Thx Bat

Absolutely gorgeous looking set. And I bet they feel even better. How's the weight of the copper heads compared to carbon steel? Bat

Thanks for the in-depth response Chris. I guess, with the USGA limit on size and COR, I was just looking for that little extra forgiveness that these "face technology" might provide without going the "MOI driver" route. I must admit that the Epon 460 feels superb and is much more forgiving than my current driver regardless of whether it has any type of "face technology" or not. Just one more question. On the face of the Epon where the color changes (about 1/4" from the perimeter); is that exactly where they plasma weld the face or is it just the finishing? Thx. Bat
  5. What are the rest of the contenders for Class 3? Thanks Bat

Does the Epon 460 has any form of variable face thickness technology to it? Also, what is the purpose of plasma welding different types of titanium on it's face? Seriously thinking of getting these. I've tried the club and the quality and performance is definitely there. Just wondering if the technology of the face in particular is at least on par with FT-5 and Superquad. Thanks Bat
  7. Are these exactly the same as the "regular" 460? Well, other than the fact that they're "handmade" limited edition with different finish I mean. Any news on the MOI driver they're working on yet? Hopefully, they won't go overboard and make it big and ugly like the offerings from other OEMs. All of their current clubs are just very classy. Bat
  8. Can't wait to try this one. Bat
  9. I demoed the 15* X-Drive FW with QT (S) at the range last week. Though I can't hit them off the deck (I can't hit ANYTHING off the deck), I can safely say that it's the best combo off the tee I've ever tried. I hit it about the same length as my current driver with much better consistency (the main reason I'm looking to change driver). Absolutely love the feel and sound of this thing. It has a clear bright metallic sound similar to the ViQ but not as hollow. IMO, the face feels more explosive than the X-ST. Hope this helps. Bat
  10. The 950GH are softer than stated flex. The 1150GH, however, are pretty true to flex IMO. Bat
  11. I have not tried any Epon wedge cuz I prefer a less rounded profile for my wedge. You're gonna love Thailand. Especially if it's your first time playing golf here. Many nice courses with very reasonable green fee + caddy rates. Golf equipments are usually priced the same or a bit more expensive than in the States (for US Specs.). But you can find a variety of JDM products here as well. I recommend you stay in Bangkok for a couple of days then visit other provinces such as Phuket, Samui, Chiangrai, etc. You'll find some of the nicest courses along with other tourist attractions. Bat
  12. Marchy, First of all, with the current equipments, it's not really the matter of which shaft (or club) is good. It's more important that the equipment fits YOUR swing. It's hard making any club or shaft recommendation without knowing at least a bit more about yourself and what you're looking for. I'll list some example of things that might be needed to take into account when choosing equipments. - your physical info (age, sex, height, build, etc.) - your handicap - how long have you been playing golf - how often do you play / practice - are you currently working with a teaching professional - your driver swing speed / 6 or 7 iron distance - what's your launch monitor numbers (launch, backspin, ball speed, etc.) - what's your tempo and your transition like - what's your miss shot with woods / irons (slice, hook, thin, fat, $h@nk, etc.) - what's your normal course condition (wet, thick rough, fast green, etc.) - do you have a steep or shallow angle of attack - are you a swinger or a hitter - do you hit the ball too high or too low - what equipments are you currently using (and what you like / don't like about it) - what are you trying to achieve with the new equipments Some of the things are more important for choosing certain equipments while others might not be relevant. Hope this helps. Bat
  13. No krub K.Marchy. The prototype he showed me was raw and has rough grainy black surface. He told me that it's forged from S25C carbon steel so I'd imagine that it'll rust with use. Bat
  14. Driver : Tourstage, Epon, Callaway Fairway : Tourstage Hybrid : Tourstage, Royal Collection Irons : Epon, Tourstage, Mizuno Wedges : Fourteen Putter : G-Filed Shafts : Nippon, Graphite Design Bag : Tourstage, Mizuno Gloves : Kasco Bat
  15. I met with Niimi San again today and told him how I heard about Epon from Chris of TSG. This guy is BEYOND nice. He showed me a prototype wedge he was working on. It has a brushed finish similar to the Yururi wedge in black but with quite a bit of offset. He said that he'd get one for me when it's done, and will grind it to my spec!! I'm very impressed to say the least. Bat

After seeing the Epon bag in person again today, I really have a new found respect for Chris. The bag actually looks alright from about 10 feet away. Chris could've easily put pictures of the Epon bag in the pro shop and they'd be sold out in no time. He didn't, and I respect him for that. From up close, I can tell you that they're not well made at all. It's no comparison to the Tourstage or Mizuno stuff you've seen. They're made of thin shiny material (they have white and yellow) that won't last with slightly rough handling. The zippers to the pockets also look cheap and I personally don't like the design of the top dividers. Hopefully, Epon realizes how terrible the bags are and comes out with "Tourstage quality" bags to replace these soon. Bat
  17. Sawasdee krub K.Marchy, I'm also from Thailand and just bought myself a new set of Epon Technity Type S from Golf Crafts (Eakamai). So far I've only hit my 6 iron (and the 7 iron at the shop) as the rest of the set is waiting to be customize. My current set is the Tourstage X-Blade CB1 and my previous set was the Tourstage TS-202. The initial impression is that the Epon feels much softer than my current set. It's a bit more forgiving than the X-Blade CB1 but not nearly as forgiving as the TS-202. I have not hit the Forged ViQ 2007 but they look pretty similar to the Forged ViQ 2005 which is about the same in forgiveness as the TS-202. The Type S has a smaller profile with less offset and thinner sole than the ViQ 2007. Personally, I do not like shafts that are too light so I won't comment on Shimada Vs. NS.Pro 950GH. I've tried both TM Superquad and the Epon 460 both in 10.5* R flex. Honestly, they're both very good and with good fitting, you won't be disappointed with either of them. The Superquad feels more explosive while Epon 460 feels soft yet solid (not muted). The face of Superquad (non-TP) that I hit is at least a couple of degrees closed while the Epon 460 is almost square (probably 1* closed). They both launch the ball high with medium-low spin with the standard shaft. With the Superquad you get to play around with the weights but the build quality of the Epon looks better to me. If you're interested, they also have the Hi-Cor (USGA-illegal) version of the Epon 460 available for the same price. I'd also recommend you demo the new ViQ MX driver. It comes standard with a 45.5 inch shaft but still pretty forgiving and very long. FWIW, I'm also looking to change my driver. I'm still waiting to try the FT-5 and the Superquad TP along side the Epon 460 and ViQ MX before I can decide. This is only my first time dealing with Golf Crafts, but it's been excellent so far. Much much better than I've seen anywhere else in Bangkok IMO. First I thought I wanted the DGSL in the irons but after trying it on the 6 iron, it's just too harsh for me. I took it back and was thinking that I'd have to pay more to change the shafts but the owner (Nimi San) made a phone call to Japan and ordered a new set of NS.Pro 1150 Tour shafts for me to replace the DGSL for NO EXTRA CHARGE! The Type S is a bit more demanding; mostly because of the smaller size compared to the ViQ. Personally I've not tried the Type X but I'd give it a try if I were you. Unless you fit perfectly for standard specs, I'd definitely go for the Epon. The custom fitting from Golf Crafts alone is well worth it. Bat BTW, ask the lady (K.Tai) for a free Epon cap if you buy their irons. She's pretty friendly. The clubmaker working on my set is the K.King. He the young guy that has pretty good knowledge of Epon stuff and club fitting. The head clubmaker is K.Jakr. He's pretty well known in the clubmaking community in Bangkok. Hope this helps.

Thx idrive. I guess I'll know the answers to my own questions very soon. Pulled the trigger on a set of Epon Type S a couple of days ago. Waiting for another set of 1150 shafts that should be here on Monday. Can't wait to try them with the shafts that I like. I tried them with the DGSL and harsh feel of the shafts effectively nullify the feeling of the forged endo, IMO. Bat

I have 2 questions regarding the NiCr20 Finish. Is the NiCr20 finish standard on ALL Epon irons or just some models? And for those using these irons, how are they wearing so far compared to chrome? Thx. Bat
  20. Judging from your signature, it looks like you've moved on to type 'J' from type 'S'. Can you please tell us a bit more about the decision for the switch? Bat
  21. Classic = of enduring interest, quality, or style I was looking at Gocchin's WITB pics and thought how beautiful the Z-101 looks. I know it's not as old as some of the others, but I'd still consider these 'a classic' set of irons. Even with all the new irons out these past few years I'd still consider them to be in the top 10 irons I'd bag. A) What old school irons do you consider a classic AND will still put them into play? B) Which of the current models do you predict to be the NEXT Classic set of irons 5 years from now? For me... A) Z-101, TM 300 Forged, MR-23, TS-202 B) X-Forged, MP32, ViQ Forged 2007, Type J Bat
  22. This has got to be one of the nicest bag I've seen. I love how beautiful the photos look. I have 2 questions. What kind of camera did you use? And how do you keep the Z-101 looking so great after all these years? Has it been refinished? Bat
  23. I believe it's the Higher number of "Face Progression" the Less "Offset" there is. If I'm not mistaken, Face Progression is measured from the center of the hosel to the leading edge. Bat
  24. At the same length it should increase the swingweight by about 2 points to D3. Bat

Any update so far? Also, how would you compare type S or type X to the mix? Thx Bat
