Currently gaming 502s. I love them but was thinking of trying out something more thin-soled like the AF Tours. (My home course has a lot of hard, tight lies and I'm more of a sweeper than digger.) Coming from the 501s and 502s, I'm partial to more modern, stronger lofts. I was wondering if bending the AF Tours a couple degrees would affect its playability due to decreased bounce. Any help from the Epon experts is much appreciated
  5. Heard from the grapevine that TSG and Epon are no longer working together. I guess the deletion of the Epon line in their proshop gives weight to the rumors...

Mid to High 60+ grams at 45". I want it to hold against my hardest swings without hooking or ballooning, but still with that lively feel. Using a Whiteboard 63x at the moment fitted in an Epon 460 at 45". Good shaft, but I want to try something that'll get me a bit more carry, but still with low spin. Guess I'm a hard guy to please!

Was wondering what weight and flex would be suitable for a 108-110 SS, fairly aggressive move, and a mid-high draw ball flight? Thanks!

I'm using an Epon Forged 460 driver with a Diamana Whiteboard at the moment, but the club hoe in me wants a new toy! Should I get the 101 or EMB? Would like to hear the experiences of those who have tried both clubs. 5.0 index. 108-110 mph SS. Have a fairly aggressive move and hit a draw fyi.
  9. Diamana and Graphite Design has always been of good quality in my experience. Just be sure to choose the right model for your swing
  10. Spoon has one! Was playing around with it after our last round. Nice soft, yet solid feel. Think it's made of the same material as the insert of Tiger's old Scotty. Beautiful, collectors putter if you have the $$$$
  11. Mike! I thought you were leaning on getting the 501s with BGs?

I've been currently playing a set of AF501s fitted with PX flighted 6.0 shafts for several months now. Current handicap is a 6, and I think these are just the right balance of playability and forgiveness for my current skill level. I know there are a lot of TSG'ers out there who would beg to differ, but I just can't justify playing 301s, except maybe for the softer, more solid feel. Not to say that the 501s are harsh in any way. These babies feel sweet, but just a tad clickier than the 301s especially in the undercut longer irons. I would rate these as a good combo set for the mid to better player who doesn't want to sacrifice forgiveness and distance (half a club compared to 301s) for a bit more playability and feel. Btw, I came from a set of Cally X-forged, also in PX flighted shafts before going Jap. Haven't regretted the switch at all.

Was able to hit one just recently fitted with a Shimada Steel shaft. I'm not sure if its the final version or prototype though... It's stamped as the AF901. More of an iron, rather than a wood. Similar to the old Bridgestone Air Muscle and Mizuno Fli-Hi. Sharp, thin topline for a hybrid. Looks like an extension to the AF701 family, except with a much wider sole. Purists will love the looks of this hybrid. Can't accurately review distance and total ballflight since I was hitting in one of those ranges with a net put up 120 yards in front of you. Has a clicky feel like the AF701. Moderately easy to hit. Workability is on the above the average side for a hybrid (from what I could tell). More for the better player/ballstriker.
  14. I love my Epon Forged 460 fitted with a 63X Whiteboard. Had it custom ordered with a 2* open face angle, and it is an anti hook machine! Very penetrating trajectory that carries well even into the wind. Hits it at least 10-20 yards past my old Taylormade 425TP fitted with a rombax. Very good driver especially for high speed, high trajectory players. SS: 50 m/s Mid-High Trajectory R-L player Quick tempo
  15. Technically it will play a tad lighter & softer, but I don't think you'll even notice.
  16. I think they're more for the lowcapper than the mid. I found them very comparable to the X-Forged. Definitely nothing like blades though.

Nothin much to discuss Carlo. Just a tad harsh for my liking.
  18. The MP60's are slightly bigger than the 301. Forgiveness is about the same. Bogeydog is right. The 301s are fairly forgiving for its type and size. The feel is definitely more solid compared to the somewhat mushier feel of the Mizuno's. I've been playing with Callaway X-Forged for several months. I'd say the 301's are very similar in terms of size, forgiveness and playability.

Hi. Does anyone know the tip size of the Epon Type-J/AF501 and know whether they are taper or parallel? How about the fairway woods (AF201)? Thanks.
  20. I've been able to try all 3 clubs in the range. Here's my take. 1) The AF501 is the most forgiving, the TC-770 next, then the AF301 2) I liked the feel of the AF301 the best. Soft but solid feel. The TC-770 will take second place. Also soft and solid, but just not quite as soft as the 301. The AF501 still feels soft, but more clicky as opposed to solid in the mid-long irons because of the undercut channel w/ spring steel face. 3) AF501. The TC-770 has the thickest topline of the bunch.
  21. Are the 501s exactly like the type S, but just with a different logo?
  22. What's the difference? Will the wide sole be easier to hit and the narrow more manueverable? Which is better for diggers/sweepers?

How much weight would the mamiya axiv-v 8072 be at if it were trimmed to 45"? The 7072? On average how much weight will a shaft lose per inch trimmed? Sorry for the pseudo-redundant questions.

I had the original PXs before in my Srixons and I wasn't overly impressed with the feel. Distance was ok, but the shaft generally felt harsh. Switched to the PX flighted when I got my Cally X-Forged and I haven't looked back. The PX flighted feel smoother, are easier to hit especially with the longer clubs, and give me a lot more control than the original PX. Flex would play the same.

Thanks Gocchin! I was actually lookin at the 8072s if I were going to get Axiv's. The GD I-65 seems interesting too since I have always had good experiences with GD shafts (had the m-65 in my old X-drive 405 HR). Anyways thanks for the help again. Your posts and blogs at Inpakuto are always helpful!
