Epon 201, the most beautiful, wonderful feeling, powerful 3 wood I've ever used. However, it isn't forgiving, you better hit it flush and hard, I would only suggest it for 4hcp or better. I'll be switching to the new Epon 202 when released and hope it's more forgiving. My 201 5 wood it great. I must admit to being curious about the EGG

well done to Chris, I had no doubt the lab results would vindicate his statements. I have never owned any scratch clubs, those that own them seem to like them, who cares. Neither do I know and have never dealt with Ari. Clearly he doesn't even know where his own product comes from. These's nothing wrong with the open model heads, many use and modify them. However, relying on your customers lack of understanding to the manufacturing process to market flat out miss information is very poor, as are the personal accusations he made against Chris which would seem to apply to him and certainly not to Chris. I'll be interested to see what the scratch groupies on WRX have to say and see if Ari will appologise as would seem highly appropriate.

hahaha me too! When I get my 102 (soon) it will have a CB50 as recommended in the fitting thread. I've also been looking for an excuse to hit a 151 so likely to get one of those with a fire express to compare. I agree its difficult to do when the current set up is performing. If either of the above can beat the bombs being produced by my current 101 IP / fineone combo I'll be one happy camper to say the least!

The results of the metallurgy testing will be interesting. Ari's response to the WRX thread (which as we know has been DELETED) states Chris' motivation is purely sales is ridiculous and reduces Ari's credibility in my eyes. An old trick is to 'play the man not the ball' to divert attention away from the real issue at hand. We need only to view some recent threads to see Chris is entirely honest in his assessment of product. As evidence I cite his comment with regard to Sky Dream Jump QC and criticism of the 208KGX design. I would think a person purely about sales would remain silent on such issues.

Yes, absolutely. At the time I joined this site, I played all TM tour issue equipment including Miura forged 300's, all very nice gear. However, since switching to Epon you're 100% correct, I've never played better made equipment. Of course anyone who was into golf has always known that the Japanese are the only makers of 'real irons' but encouragingly recently to wood offerings have expanded to cater for the hard hitter / high swing speed player, which is not typically the average Japanese golfer. The offer is second to none and anyone with any game, eye or feel for quality or interest in equipment couldn't possibly buy non JDM equipment. A name change is certainly appropriate!

Likewise, I only have images. It does appear though that the shortcomings of the 208 have been addressed, the 210 is a significantly different design. In relation to the 208, I don't disagree with your sentiments Chris, though mine have now been bent more often than Joe Cocker and ground on more than Paris Hilton and they are great, but I'll certainly be switching to the 210.

There is a new Epon 210KGX to be released this month. S20 forged with a new design that looks the goods. We can't post images yet, but I would strongly urge you to consider. Despite 2010 conforming grooves, the design produces more spin and a better flight compared to the 208 model, stay tuned!

BigEasy, I've actually asked what the face height is, Epon are on leave for the lunar new year and golf show so I wont have an answer until next week, Chris may already know the face height? In relation to trajectory, a shallower face height would increase trajectory?

Agreed in relation to 502. As an AF-Tour user, I was not expecting to be so visually pleased, not too big nor too big at all. I hit my demo irons that I lend to customers (7 iron / KBS Tour 90 R-flex & 6 iron / KBS Tour 4.5) and was delighted with the feel and performance, distance was rediculous. Not only mid/high cappers but low handicappers prefering a compact mid size iron can easily bag these.

Not sure yet......shipping commences 25 Feb so I have a week or so. I am currently undecided as to whether 8.5* (probably hand picked to 8*) or 9.5*. I will be testing my 101 IP with the F7M2 X back in it this week. The current shaft I've been testing is very easy to hit, nice launch, but too much spin for me. Similarly, I am very tempted to drop a couple of grams on the shaft and go with the 65X as opposed to the 75-80g driver shafts I've been using for a long time, the 65X is close to 70g.

Absolutely true. I have some $1,000 extremely high modulous fishing blanks that dont fish as well as some less expensive (but still high quality) rods.

no difference at all?....we must strike the ball differently and play in different conditions. There was a substantial difference for me.

I agree with Chris that the specification of the carbon in the shafts mentioned is premium quality and we aren't advised as to the carbon quality of other brands. I'll be putting my favoured Ozik F7M2 back in my 101 IP next week and then directly head to head 'VS' a fire express in another Epon driver arriving next month. I'll have not only LM data to compare but also subjective comments relating to feel and workability. I'm looking forward to the shoot out!
