Bo knows Taylormade Tour
Very nice story, and a great gesture from Bo...even if you have 1K of those drivers!!! I would let you hit my driver, if you exhibited a profiecency to not hit it off the top of the club, but you could not have "MY DRIVER"!!! Bo is a different breed...I admire him and his physical ability! He had "hip replacement" surgery early in his baseball and football career...the "right hit" and he could be an invalid today...I admire him for his courage and his determination, which I share...not his "smarts"! I don't know if I could have had the surgery and continued to play...knowing that I could be in a wheel chair at any moment...that's dedication!!! My $.02!

r7 tp versus retail...a new question!!!
As we have learned the TP and Tour versions have the SPF-700 Ti and the Retail have the 6-4 Ti, so my question is "how do ya hit this some beach"? There cannot be 10 yards delta from tour to retail set-up, other than personal preference! If it works, don't even change the grip, in other words, if it works, don't f**k with it!!! Are you looking for accuracy, distance, or overall looks? After you get past the "oh wow factor", you better have something that you can play with!!! Go to a professional club builder and find out what works best for you! Not what works for Tom Lehman, Steve Lowery, Allen Doyle, Hubert Green, Lee Harper, Elvis Larkin, Dr. Gil Morgan, Tom Kite...you get the picture!!! The shaft is the "key", but the right style head and shape play an important part too! Hope this helps, Lonnie Joe

Cutting down shaft length?
Is the driver too long and/or too heavy? I get confused here, so I will try to think out loud (since I am a hitter) - if you are a swinger and tend to hit it out to the right, then the shaft is too stiff, if you are hitting it left, then it may be too weak...for a hitter, this is exactly opposite, so you need to know your tendancy. Cutting down a graphite shaft will generally make it a little stiffer. If you are a "go" for a cut down, then I would try it 1/2" at a time...easier to cut one down than add the length back in. If it get's a little too light, rather than keep adding lead tape, then get a good bud to put in a "tip weight" to bring the SW back up. Hope I helped and did not confuse the question!

R7 Shallow vs R7 TP Tour
I have hit both drivers also...the R7 TP in a 9.5 and a Shallow in 10.5, and I actually liked the Shallow better, felt more solid; however, I kinda side with "tincup" on this one...the Shallow probably had a better shaft for me and I think shaft is the real "key". Personal opinion is sell the Shallow now while they are "hot and rare"...I have heard that TM is going to market a TP Shallow in Spring '05. If I remember, the 540 XD and the R7 Shallow design was for someone that is prone to "hook" the ball. Did I remeber correctly? Help!

smooth tops
ALL of the TM Stuff is really confusing!!! Here goes, my interpretation of your post...first, when I read "300 Smooth Top", I think of the 300 Tour Driver that is 360cc and was never produced for the retail market. I also think of the 300 smooth top fairways, which were produced for both tour and retail...difference being a "smooth" topline and .335 shaft for the tour series. Then, you had the 200 Smooth top fairway woods, which were only made for the tour players....335 shaft and smooth top with a rounded sole. A lot of tour players preferred these, but I personally liked the 300 smooth top series in both retail and tour better!!! My $.02 Lonnie Joe

TaylorMade responds to tour "retail" versus "

Shaft frequency... A question for Mr.Kwok, all welcome
Hummmmm...if the Driver is 42.5" and the guy was using a Maltby Frequency meter, then I might agree on an R-Flex. Guess, I'll get banned here too  It does make a difference which meter you use...we run this experiment at GSA in Decatur one day with a Mitchell, Maltby, and a Club Scout. Each meter had a different reading for the same Driver, but on each chart recommended with the machine, the CFM's to Stiffness were bout the same. In other words, 3 different meters, 3 different readings, same conclusion. This may have been discussed elsewhere here, but worth mentioning again...just gotta sing from the same "hymnal".

Check Out The Tour Issue TP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Darn...and I was going to Esnipe it!!!

will there be a r7 ht tp version
If you are referring to the issue of an R7 Shallow Face, I have heard that one will be marketed sometime this Spring...if not sooner. The R7 Shallow Face is basically a 540 XD head with the R7 quad screws, in anticipation of the next question.

The TSG Ban Bug!
I have not been "banned" here...yet! I have had some trouble "logging on" at times, and it does take forever to load the web site!!! I had a BAD virus about two months ago, then installed McAfee with the Firewall and everything...now I notice that just about every site that I go to has these "web bugs", which I block all the time..."cookies" OK, but not the tracer bugs, as I call them. Sonartec MD 17 (Tour Issue) Accra 65-X
I have a right handed Sonartec MD 17 that I bought from a reliable source as a "tour issue", and while I have no doubt that it is tour issue, it looks just like the retail version to me. The head is a 230 gram head and is shafted at 41.75" with an Accra 65-X that swing weights out at D-4. Minor sole scratching from use, but otherwise "like new" - No Headcover. $175 shipped to lower 48, or best offer. Trade considerations would be Fuji Tour Spec or Black shafts (no TP stuff); Nak 420cc Driver; Scotty Putters.

Miura Mizuno's, Gauge CS, Frequency Meter & Digital Scal
The Club Scout III Frequency Meter has been sold! Thanks Doug!!! I have updated the other items with lower prices also. Please note that I have listed the Mizuno MS207's as Miura Forgings, which is the info that I got when I bought them...they are extremely soft; however, I would not doubt that these irons were forged by Mizuno Japan and assemblied by Miura (3-PW). These are Japan Tour Irons and if anybody has any concrete info on these, please post!!! I bought the FW and SW seperate where I would have somewhat of a matching set, and these are included with the set. Thanks, Lonnie Joe

I have several items that need adoption: 1) Mizuno MS207 3-PW forgings by Miura with Rifle 5.8 shafts with Miura Shaft Bands and Miura Cord Grips. Also have the FW and SW, but cannot attest to the pedigree of these two. $550 shipped to lower 48. 2) Gauge Design by David Whitlam US Model Center Shaft GAA1. 340 gram 303 Stainless head, Blue Gauge HC, 32.5", and original grip. $175 shipped to lower 48. 3) SOLD - Club Scout III Frequency Meter mounted on a 2 x 12 x 48 inch board. Meaures frequency in CFM's and has the bar to measure shaft Torque. $OLD 4) Golfsmith Golf Club Auditor - Digital Swing Weight Scale and measures total weight also. $175 shipped CONUS. Pics provided for serious buyers by email at "[email protected]". Great stuff...just updated my home shop and need to do some more "ho-ing". Bag set, but might trade for back-ups or try these items - Tour RAC LT's, Sonartec TRC's, JMAX Wood-Irons, or Tour TM Rescue - Rescue FW's. Thanks, Lonnie Joe

Mizuno Miura Forged MS207 Incliner CB - Rifle 5.8's
I have a right handed set of Mizuno MS 207 Irons, 3-PW, FW, and SW - 10 irons in all! The 3-PW are definitely Miura Forged with Miura Grips and Shaft bands and Rifle 5.8 shafts. The FW and SW have Rifle shafts, but were actually picked up prior to me buying this set of 3-PW. I really do not know what they are worth, so make offers! I have $600 in the 3-PW and I would take that for the 10 irons, plus shipping. Thanks, and pics available by emailing "[email protected]". Lonnie Joe

TM Tour Issue 200 Smooth Top Heads in 13 & 17
Title says it all! I have the 13 & 17 Tour Issue 200 smooth top heads (head only - NO shafts) for sale as a pair for $400 shipped to the lower 48. The 13 is in 9.0/10 condition and the 17 is near mint. The only reason that the 13 is not "mint" is that it has been played and there are some scratches on the face (like from hitting on grass at a sandy range), not topline, but face, and they will not show up in the pics. Pics available by email to "[email protected]", and please only request pics if you are a serious buyer. Thanks, Lonnie Joe
