  1. Driver is 10.5. Face .5 closed. Very good condition (8/10). "Worst" part could be the face. Has some marks from hitting crapy range balls, but still very good. Only used twice on course. Crown inmaculate. Now it´s shafted with an Armrq (Honma) 856 stiff shaft. It´s around 60gr and closer to a regular or a soft regular than a real stiff. I also have the original Drev Tour shaft from NGS. Its 65gr and stiff. Torque around 3.5. This one is stout. You can choose the shaft or have only the head if you want to. Price will depend on what you buy. Was thinking about 450 bucks if you buy it as it is, 370 for the head only and 530 if you want both shafts...but I am a bit out of the market right now so if you are interested please make an offer... All prices plus shipping. Paypal only. Will ship from Madrid, Spain
  2. I have just received a set of Taylor Made Tour Burners with Nippon 850gh and I have noticed that, near where the label reads "S for shaft" it also reads "PL". I think I have also seen that on a set of Macgregor MTs but that "PL" thing does not appear on my Epon TypeX´s Nippons neither in some Honmas that I have inspected. Is it a different shaft or just a different, new labelling? Thaks folks
  3. Chris, I am playing steel Nippon 850 regular in my Type Xs and feel very comfortable. Do you think the Roddios will be too light? Thanks for your quick answer
  4. I have just found a mint set of "old" honma irons with I6 Roddio shafts. Any feedback on these? Will they play softer or stiffer than a similar american OEM shaft? Thanks
  5. I have a set of Beres 702 irons in graphite and it´s a love/hate relationship. Nowadays it´s love again. The "other one" is a set of Epon Type X with Nippon 850´s that I also love but... ¿Does your old man hit 155 yard arrows with a 9 iron? I do with this clubs. I am 35 years old. Am I an old man? Yes? THANK YOU
  6. Still looking? I got a 10.5, 0.5 closed. It has a HONMA ARMRQ 856 2 stars in Stiff. It plays like a R flex and its 56 grams. I live in Madrid, Spain. If you are interested I can find out the shipping cost to your door and discuss a fair price... Cheers
  7. Thanks for the input. The shafts would be from the later series, the 851 or the 856, wich are basically the same but they have titanium threads all along(the Beres B49 and B54 have not). Have demoed the 851: too soft. Have tested this morning the 856 in reg and stiff and still do not now what to do cause I am in the middle (43-44 m/s)...
  8. I am not saying that the Drev is not good, I know it is an excellent shaft but I think is too stout for my swing. I honestly think I don´t load it. The replacement would be an ARMRQ shaft from Honma...what would you think then?
  9. I am sorry for this is a very basic question but I know very little about clubmaking and haven´t found a lot of info using the search engine. I want to reshaft my Epon 460. The thing is that at my local store they have a bunch of non-conforming drivers (JDM) that they can not sell nor return to the manufacturer (or so I think), so they have offered me the chance to take one driver (brand new), pull the shaft out and install it in my Epon. I am very tempted because they are asking about 140 bucks (installed) for a shaft that is 400 dollars if bought "new". My question is (pressuming that the clubfitter knows what he is doing): if this is safe? or the shaft may suffer in any way? Some of you may say that for the price it´s worth the try but I do not want to tinker with my Epon too much... Thanks
  10. FANTASTIC JOB GOCCHIN! THANKS FOR THE INFO
  11. I know this may be a little outdated but I have searched the forums with no results. Can anyone tell me what is/was your opinion on this clubs? If a 16 hcp wants to play Miura should he buy this, or would you recommend CB201 or CB202 better? Thanks
  12. Thanks again for your input Gocchin, and I love your avatar by the way... The shafts in the XXIO woods are indeed MP400 in regular. You see, XXIO is not easy to buy in my country. I bought regular because I had no chance to demo/buy stiff. They were simply not available. I tested them against other OEM´s woods in reg and stiff anyway. I bought them second hand but almost new....didn´t want to let them go.... The shafts in the Beres irons are indeed B49 in regular. I am a regular guy. I am 35 years old. Not to strong, not to slim but I can say I hit the ball long enough. 150 metres with a 7 iron (that´s around 170 yds?), with a "normal" iron. Not strong lofted. I don´t think this shafts are for older man, too light and whippy like some say. I think they are fine. The problem in my country is that it´s almost impossible to get fitted properly. I have attended several demo days from big OEMs and even one with the European Tour Van in the range to take your orders and they were all bulls**t.They just want to make money. Just a couple of staff bags full of clubs in two or three lofts and two shafts to try and no launch monitors no computers no nothing. The "fitter" watches you hit balls and says: "ok, you need a reg shaft, 9 degrees of loft, and -1inches, it´s 299 dollars, have a nice day" It is dangerous and expensive but I am fitting myself. I went to a shop some months ago and measured my swing speed in a simulator and was around 102 mph so I bought the Epon 460 in stiff from Chris. But I honestly think I am a little below that right now. Maybe 97-98mph. Believe me, I would be the happiest man in the world if I could be properly fitted just once and know what to buy... But this is black or white. It´s Machline 501A or Nippon 850R. No chance of getting 601 or 701. I don´t really need the irons but I think this is a good chance to get a set of Epons cause the price is very good..... I can always pass..
  13. You are 100% right, but those are the only two options available from the seller right now. There is nothing left in my signature´s bag. I need to update that asap. But I am afraid that my bag right now is still a little messy... I play Drev stiff (63gr, 3.5 torque I believe) in my Epon 460. I have to be swinging well to hit it straight but do not know if it is the shaft or the head... My swing speed was measured in an indoor simulator almost a year ago around 100-103mph but I don´t trust the machine anymore. I think I am in the border of reg and stiff. I play reg flex graphite in my XXIO 3 and 5 woods. That´s 50 grams and almost 4 torque. I have 3 iron sets right now that come in and out of the bag: A set of Bridgestone GC mids with Nippon 105 gram reg steel that I bought just for the shafts. I think they are too heavy for me weekend golfer. A set of Beres 702 with reg graphite shafts. No complains. These are my gamers.....for the moment A set of Pings G10 with reg graphite shafts wich the more I play the more I love, the most forgiving irons I have played. The Pings shafts are 75gr and I think the Nippon 105 in the Bridgestones are a bit too much for me, so I thought I could give the Nippon 850 a try, but the upcharge for the graphite is very low and that´s why I asked for advice. Another thing to take into account is that if I buy graphite, I can always reshaft with the Nippons, because they are available here, but the opposite does not work. I can not get Machline shafts here. Thanks very much for your input
  14. Let´s imagine there is no upcharge for the graphite shafts. What would you buy for your Type X irons, Machline 501 or Nippon 850?
  15. Thanks for your input Gocchin, I knew you would show up! Next week I am going to be lucky enough to test some Type X with the Machline and see for myself. One more question, How can you tell the flex of the shaft is the sticker is missing? The shaft itself does not say anything about that, just says 501...
  16. I know most of you TSGers are not very fond of graphite shafts on irons, but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried Machline shafts on Epon irons or could give me some feedback on the shafts themselves. Chris? Thanks a lot.
  17. OK, maybe this is a stupid question, but is something I have been wondering about for some time and I am sure you fellow TSGers can help me with. As long as it exists a J-spec rapture iron I have decided to post this in this forum... What happens when you order a set of irons let´s say 2 degrees flat? Does the manufacturer have sets forged in different specs or they just take a standard set and bend it? As soon as I have some answers to this I will tell you about my experience with the Callaway European tour´s van and a set of X-forged irons (ENDO FORGED). What´s the case with PING irons? Do they have different moulds for the different color codes or do they just cast the irons "standard", bend them, paint the dot and send the club to the costumer? If they just bend a standard set, then what´s the benefit of buying your color when you will have to check the angles now and then? You may buy standard (avoiding the waiting list) and take it to your local clubfitter to do the work? Thanks for your wisdom
  18. This is Bela, from Madrid, Spain. I own a set of 712 irons. Best irons ever (for me...). Beres people DO sell here 801 irons both in steel and graphite. I do not know about the heads´weights but I have seen and hit both and they are, at least, finished different. Graphite shafted heads are satin while steel shafted heads are chrome. Hope this helps...
  19. I will try to keep this simple. I have a set of 712 irons. Awesome. Best irons I have ever hit. They are not the prettiest on earth. A little big even for me and the cavities are too busy. But you dont see them at address and the topline is quite thin. Anyway who cares when they are the Longest, straightest iron I have ever tried. They rock. Beres hybrids are good but very expensive (the irons too of course). I would better buy two XXIO than one Beres for the same price. Beres woods are also very good. Very easy to hit and very long. The faces are too shallow for me but they work very good from the fairway. I would seriously consider buying one of these babies... But Beres drivers.... To put it simple....I prefer Honma drivers. I have hit and played demos Beres 712, 711, 811 drivers and wanted to like them but that did not happen. Hit them in regular, stiff, 9 and 10 degrees.....no love. They perform well, dont get me wrong, but they are not outstanding. I hit my SQ with the stock shaft longer and straighter...and like the feel better A couple of months ago I bought from Chris an Epon 460. Last week I played 9 holes with it and with a demo Beres 811 side by side. I used the Beres just once. I hit a good shot with it but needed no further testing.....EPON ALL THE WAY. Just my opinion anyway...
  20. Any feedback on these irons? How do you compare them to Miz MX-23 if you will ? Easier or not for a mid hcp? Please fellows drop me a line...
  21. Please TSGers help me on this. I have no access to any fitter or clubmaker in my area. I am not taking lessons right now so I can not ask my pro for advice. My swing speed with the driver is 100-102 mph and my downswing is fast. Wich flex should I use in my steel shafted irons? I have been on the range with a couple of Ping i5 6 irons, one reg and one stiff and feel the stiff is straighter with more control and not so hard to swing, but the owner of the shop in wich I usually buy says that the range is one thing and the course is another. He says 18 holes with a stiff steel shaft is going to be too much (even if he has not ever seen me hitting balls or playing). What would you do? Would graphite stiff shafts be a "middle of the road" solution? Thanks
  22. Where exactly in the site is that matrix? And in wich site (uk, jp...?) I have been there and only find the chart that suggests one HEAD or another (901, 801,...) depending on HEAD speed, but no refference to SWING speed to choose shaft flex. I am thinking about buying an iron set so please help me on this Thanks
  23. I also thought that the more stars the more titanium fibres..... If you have the chance to look closely to an Honma Armrq you will surely see the titanium fibers and you ain´t going to see them in the Beres Armrq. If you go to Beres web site and read the shafts specs you will also note that Honma Armrq is made of carbon +4axis SOF + titanium, and no reference to titanium in Beres Armrq shafts. I don´t know if the lack of titanium should make the shaft a lot cheaper or if we are still paying a lot for it for the rest of its technology... BTW where do you come from?
  24. That´s exactly what Beres people told Chris (Tourspecgolfer). It´s in another thread if you wish to research...
  25. You are wrong my friend. They are still using the star system, at least in their shafts. The difference with previous Honma Armrq is that they do not use titanium anymore. I´ve got a couple of demo clubs in my bag so I can check for stars in the heads later. I can understand that the more stars the better the material and/or, as stated in another post, tighter pull section and lower torque. The thing that I really don´t understand is : If the new Beres models of irons and woods are designed for different players (based on their head speed), each with its particular shaft, then what´s their L, R or Stiff options for then?
