  1. I do like the look of the new wedge with practically no offset. Much better in my opinion. But then, my nemesis is the dreaded left shot and offset just kills me. I like the look of this wedge with the exception of the huge loft number. Just not my style and something I would not be able to get used to, but I understand some people just love it. And, thats a good thing. I appreciate the variety of looks in golf clubs now. There really is something for everyone. Yururi is definitely one company to look out for and should be at the top of the list for anyone considering a superior quality wedge.

Yea, sounds like you should definitely give it a shot. I know all about getting steep. It used to be my nemisis and something my teacher and I have worked on for years. I'm really sold on the fact that a shallower swing plane is the way to go due to the fact that you have a lot more leeway for error in the swing. You can get away with mis**ts better with a shallower swing than a steeper one. However, with the PT-8 and its bend profile, it really feels like the shaft loads strongly into the ball. If you do decide to try the PT series, please lets us all know how it goes for you.

I have the QT85 in an Epon 3 wood and the PT-8 in a G-Field 4 wood. Both shafts are first rate and you can't go wrong with either. For me I prefer the QT85 as I feel it supports the swing better throughout. Both are solid through the ball but where they differ is the kickpoint. You can really feel the right where the kickpoint is in the PT8, exactly in the middle. In fact, when you swing through it feels like the shaft is assuming an "L" shape. The QT85 has more of a flowing "bend" to it. I love both shafts and have hit both very, very well. For me, the trajectories are about the same (piercing, low to low-mid) but I believe that to be a result of a shallow swing plane and not so much the shafts contributing to the flight. Also, can't really compare directly as the heads are different as well as the lofts. Dispersion is about equal, but I give a slight advantage to the QT85. Distance I would say is equal between the two, but then again can't compare directly due to the different characteristics of the two clubs. For me, the QT85 edges out the PT8 based on the feel it gives me. However, both are great and you can't go wrong with either, IMO.

The UT85 is a fine shaft, but when I played the TRC's by Sonartec, I used my old Fujikura Speeder 757's in them and they were fantastic. I was very impressed with how well they worked in that setup.
  5. With all the customization options Epon has, and I mean face angle, lie, shafts, there is nothing better out there. If you're a good ball striker it doesn't matter what you use. In fact if you're a good ball striker you want a club built the way you want it. Epon beats every company out there hands down when it comes to that.
  6. Beautiful club T, and thanks for posting your impressions. The Epon 3 wood is a monster. Mine is solidly in the bag. I love the low trajectory I get from mine. Its perfect for use in my game and to me there is no better club. The G-Field GFT comes close in performance and if one is looking for a little more forgiveness, I do believe the GFT is the way to go due to the rails it employs in the sole. I really believe in those rails helping to get the ball up and out of most any lie. I've told this to a few people who have PM'd me about the two clubs. Both clubs produce powerful, piercing trajectories however, for me and my game, I want the ultimate in feel and no company comes closer to that than Epon does. Mix in customization of face angles and lies, superb craftsmanship and very, I mean very, clean lines, it just doesn't get any better. The 3 wood is club I don't change very often but I had experimented the last few years looking for basically what I have now. For a long time I had been a huge fan of Sonartec and even had the BBD in the bag for a few years. Loved that club. Then I went with to the TourEdge Exotics and then the GFT, but was never really satisfied. The Epon not only satisfies, but leaves me feeling very, very contented and at peace in my game. Its not for everyone and there are different clubs out there which would suit different golfers better, but Epon is a must try, even if you end up not liking it.

Sweet setup. All quality clubs IMO.
  8. Very nice, a friend of mine has the X-20's and he just loves them. Thanks for sharing your clubs.
  9. That looks like it could be a winner. Similar in shape to the latest offering from Titleist. However, being Srixon, probably better quality.
  10. A few questions for you Chris that I'm curious about. Did you have increases in the other irons as well; and, I take it these are available from you, but do we need to send in the clubs for installation similar to the driver shafts? Also, do you have to have an entire set for install or would you do say selected individual irons??

8-iron's hiding under the 7 in the pic for some reason!! Yes, that's a M2 Plus. Its been seeing time of recent as I was burning a lot of edges and just not sharp on the greens. I started putting the M2 in play and for awhile was alternating between the two. Back to the Zone #1 as I basically "fixed" what I was doing wrong. The Type S is only in a 3 iron. Experimenting it with it for while and am liking the results very much. The TourStages are solidly in the bag for the 4-9 iron slots. Those are my babies and feel very confident with them.

Updated bag pics for 07/21/07. Not the greatest of pics but hope you enjoy anyway. I'm just loving each and every club in the bag right now. Current setup: Epon: 460 driver, 3 wood, Type-S 3-iron and X-model wedges (50/55/60) TourStage: X-blade 2's 4-9 irons, X-UT 1u utility G-Field: Premium Zone CNC #1 putter
  13. Here's my Epon Copper X-model wedges after a few months of wear and quite a few rounds. I thought I'd share a couple pics which show a little more wear than T's. Still very much in love with all three wedges. Never have hit a better wedge to date. Silky smooth and usefull, very usefull! The pic with the three wedges shows the 50° in back, the 55° in the middle and the 60° up front. The single pic is the 60° up close.
  14. I know this club has been out for some time now, but I just recently put it in my bag and wanted to share my opinions on it. I must say I have been very happy with the performance of the this club. I have the 17 degree. Ball flight is very strong and the feel is premium, but what else would one expect from TourStage. I was at first hesitant about the shape/looks of it, but having a square face angle and no offset really does it for me. Deep gloss black finish really sets up to the ball well. Even though its shape is very similar to the Sonartec MD, because it has no offset, it looks so much better to my eye. The feel easily surpasses that of the Sonartec. I was a big fan of the TRC's but not at all the MD line. The shaft is just the stock steel shaft from Nippon Shaft but I'm very surprised with how well it feels. I had thought I might put in a Graphite Design UT-95, but this steel shaft seems to be serving me very nicely so I'll keep that way for now. All in all I'm very happy with this club. Its much more useful to me than the Epon 7 wood I had in the bag, but then again, I had never used a 7 wood and it could be that maybe I didn't give that club enough time. Still, though, I'm glad to have put a strong utility back into the bag. I think the best thing about it (in my game) is that I'm able to keep it from going left. Going left was a big problem for me when I had a G-Field utility in the bag but this club matches my swing characteristics much better. It didn't take long at all for me to feel very confident using this club.
  15. I think that would be hard to quantify since the amount of roll is dependent not only of your swing numbers, but the firmness of the turf, the amount of slope to the hole and even the type of grass a given course your playing has. Not to mention time of year as well. I know when I play a local course near the ocean, which has kikuyu type grass, I see very little roll. They also keep that course very wet which cuts down the roll as well. Compare that to when I go to a course I frequent in the desert, I may see upwards of 50 yards of roll or more. The ground is firmer and its a newer type course. Also, the distance I hit the ball is different between the two courses because of the different types of conditions between the two courses. I would say look at your carry numbers to assess your game. Once the ball is on the ground there's too many other variables which will determine the amount of roll.
  16. I have a 3 iron that is a Type-S. My other irons are blades, the TourStage X-blade 2's. I love the ultra-thin topline and solid feel I get from them. I went with the Type S in the 3 iron because I wanted to put a 3 iron back in the bag but wanted to incorporate a little more forgiveness at that club, similar to what a lot of touring pros are doing. The topline of the Type S isn't all that big and does not distract. The feel is great but not as solid of a feel as my blades. I would say that would be due to the design of the club, being a cavity back with an undercut. The sole is thicker as Gocchin has stated but nothing too drastic. I really like this Type S in a 3 iron and it complements my set very well. While I'm not ready to make a switch away from my blades this club works very well for what I intended it for. The great thing about the the Epons are they are Endo forged of course, but can also be ordered customized to your specs.
  17. I would say my ball position stays fairly the same. I'm at the point where I don't think about it, but because I have a routine and from all the balls I've hit; I would say the ball position does not vary from shot to shot (on full swings). There are a couple different camps but finding the one which works for you takes a little time.
  18. Enojoyed your review on the X-blade CB's and I'm glad they're working out for you. TourStage does make some great irons, not to mention utilities as I'm quickly discovering with the X-UT.
  19. I haven't experimented with high end putter shafts. I'm not sure how much they could really help when the swing of a putter is so short and slow when compared to all other types of golf swings. I've been more than satisfied with the Nippon shafts in the G-Fields.
  20. Proper is all relative to one's liking. In general clubs get shorter the more the loft increases. Your 3 wood does seem a little long at 43.5" but if its working for you so be it. All of your clubs are within the range of "standard lengths", with maybe the 56 wedge being a little off since its shorter than your 60, but again it all depends upon how its working in your game. Myself all my irons are one inch over standard even though if you were to measure me to fit me to length of club, I would fall into the standard category or even one-half inch less due to my long arms. However, shorter clubs don't "feel" right to me. My 3 wood I had made at 43.25", my driver is now 45". My current utility is standard for the moment as its new to the bag and I'm still getting accostumed to it, however its working so no need to change. As far as swingweights, I go heavy. My irons range from D6 to D10.5, my wedges are E2-E4. I like heavy clubs and these work perfect for me. My bag at this moment is as perfect as its ever been at any point in time. In addition, just about all my clubs are 2-3 degrees flat. If your clubs seem off when you're playing then try some different lengths to see if it gets better. If everything is fine and you're just concerned it may not be so called "standard", then quit being concerned and just play. It really comes down to what works personally for you and your game. It does take some trial and error but over time you'll find what fits you best.
  21. Thanks for sharing, that looks like it has a super sweet feel!!
  22. Curious to know if the weight was affected at all with that grip, or is the grip itself lightweight thereby having little to no effect?
  23. I like that offset, I just wish more club lines were produced this way with much less offset. Too bad they only made five sets!! Nice touch with the outline of Hokkaido on the club. Very classy, IMO. Now here's my editiorial. Come on TourStage!! You guys should be doing customizations and special lines like this!! End of my personal editorial/rant.
  24. I really like the way the final product has come out. Grind looks awesome and I love the fact the center of gravity is higher making more a lower trajectory. I believe that's so important for a wedge. This product would be a great addition to anyone's bag.

Sounds good, now it just comes down to trial and error, like anything else, the more you do it, the better it'll come out. Try it first on some clubs you don't mind messing up, just in case!
