The 'C-groove' was invented by Harold Swash - An english putting guru, European equivelent of Dave Pelz. The groove is supposed to a) put a bit of grip on the ball and B) dissipate water. Ignacio Garrido used one to win 2003 Euro PGA. As well as Retief using one from time to time. The models all have girls names eg. heather and Emma etc.
  2. :D Nice one Pete, made me smile(which is saying a lot today!) That infill looks pretty blue to me DM, maybe it's my monitor.....

  5. my 9.5 is the proverbial 'holy grail' for me, feel is the best I've ever had(however it took some time to reach this conclusion). Currently using an NV75 shaft and lovin' it. Friends have all commented on how much longer I am this year......oo err  I try switching around between a Tour R500 and TP510 but am always glad to get back to the MR23. :D :D :D :D :D
  6. see every cloud DOES have a silver lining! :D Glad something went right for you finally :D
  7. I've wondered myself about this....... I've come to the conclusion that if it has a sightline I tend to focus on that, but if It has none I see the whole shape. My preference wanders between the two....... I don't like mallet putters personally because I find the shape too distractiing.
  8. I've seen discussions on this subject before but couldn't really get my pea-brain round........ thanks to all the explanations above, 'the penny has finally dropped!' ...... and to those that posted the pics, they really helped with the explanation. :D Great thread all! :D
  9. Mike give in you old Ho ! Crikey TM gear is H O T these days huh? :o Very nice bag indeed...... but I carry so it's too much for me!

But you are forgetting I just got back form Portugal where the sun shined all day everyday :D Seriously I hadn't noticed the sparkle until I went there!
  12. corky3 replied to matchplay's post in a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs

Yes I did get a little sunburned.... temp was in the low 70's, perfect for golf. San Lorenzo beared it's teeth with really stong winds on a couple of days (bye bye balls!) but it was really in great condition. Drank too much beer, but came second(out of 12) for the second year running! Ah well back on the Hamster wheel!

I just got back from my annual pilgramige to the Algarve........ played 5 rounds round San Larenzo, 1 at Pennina and 1 at Quinta del rea. All really good (don't really like Pennina but played well so I hereby retract my accusation of it being a 'Goat-Track')

If you call Aldila they will sell you one now (with the Proto' logo) availability is not gauranteed however.

Swing speed is just over the ton.... trajectory is mid to low normally. The NV 75S gives me a trajectory which is slightly slower than I wish, but with the penetration & roll I still get good length.

an MR23 9deg not a tour van example (thanks Chris!) that I've installed an NV75S in...... and while I agree with your findings you haven't mentioned the feel........ The MR23 is the BEST feeling driver I've ever had..... just sooooo solid. I'm 'stick'ing with mine for now...... An yes it's also the best looking :D

I haven't tried a 660TR..... but I know what you mean about the N65 running out of gas. I moved from a 65 to a 75 and there's a world of difference....better feel, better trajectory, better carry & better roll. I've also tried a 75 NVS(the orange one) but that doesn't have the penetration(oo err  ). The NV75 suits me..... But the Ho in me would like to know what the 660TR is like, gotta keep searching eh?
  19. He won the European PGA championship at Wentworth last year using a YES! (think it was an 'EMMA') ..... maybe it's a new YES!?

Thanks for posting that.... much appreciated :D
  21. Nv is stiff tip so it will hit on a lower trajectory for most people. However the NVS (the new orange shaft) is softer tipped so will hit on a higher trajectory, this is a proto shaft that will probably be available in the summer. I have 75S of both types (although in different heads, the NV is 9.5 Tourstage MR23 and the NVS is in a TM R500 10. tour head) Of the 2 I think I get better results from the green Nv, although lower traj it is much more piercing, seems to go forever and rolls more. Hope this helps....
  22. *cough* I have 4 of 'em *cough* 2 BB1's (one heavy, one regular) 1 BB1 MS 1 commerative with the copper plugs oh & a BB42 ........ must sign up to an addicts rehabilitation class(more money than sense)
  23. Mike/Par don't give up on the 500 head yet...... I can reccommend the FUJI TOUR RELEASE 27.3 shaft, high launch- low spin and feels like velvet. I'm going to try an NV Orange proto in a 500 head soon(I hope), I'm thinking this could be THE shaft for me, as I really like the NV but could do with a higher traj. I'll let you know how it works..... I've tried both FUJI 757 & 652 but never really liked either(too harsh for my taste, can only describe it as ('brittle feeling') although consistency was/is very, very good with the 757. I suppose i'm a bit of a 'soft-tip' fan really, although I think I'd better not use that phrase in public  Looking, looking always looking eh?
  24. PM'd you....
