phillypete
I was just thinking I might be a lefty... I mean how would I know I never tried life on the other side of the ball. It feels pretty good when I swing a club lefty... has anyone on here ever switched sides. What are some ways to tell if I might be lefty? kr0nik
I'm left-handed but I play golf righty. The only reason is because they didn't have any left-handed clubs in the bin at the driving range that first day. I always wondered if I could be better playing lefty (I've been playing tennis for years left-handed) but it's too late to change now. I don't have the patience to learn all over again. Funny thing is when I swing left handed in front of a mirror it looks much better and more natural than my right-handed swing. To make matters more complicated, I throw, shoot pool, shoot a bow and bowl with my right hand. I also catch better with my right. Everything else I do left-handed. I also aim with my left eye. Confusing? Damn straight! At any rate I decided to stick with my right since it's much easier to be a club-ho this way. :D And since I'm never gonna be as good as a pro then I might as well try to be the best club-ho I can be. At this I'd say I am currently a top-ranked amateur. What do you think JK?
HipCheck
I'm righty, but bat lefty in baseball. I have a lot of bat control that way. I can't swing a club worth a dime lefty though! I never had any lefty clubs growing up so I learned righty! I can putt pretty well lefty. Thought about it.... 8)
studatnu
I write righty, I shoot (hockey) lefty, I bat righty, golf righty. I've tried lefty golf and theres no way it works out...........not to mention lefty clubs are the black sheep of the group.
MGB
I've got a buddy that's a lefty but learned to play right handed because he couldn't find nice left handed equipment. He plays to an 18 but has days that he doesn't know what's gonna happen when he steps up to the ball. Unless you're ambidextrous, you need to play on your dominant side. My idea came because I am an excellent Ultimate (frisbee) players. And to throw a disc right handed requires the same shoulder turn as a left handed golf shot. anyhow I think I am going to stick to the right side, mainly for the clubs, but I had some success with a grip change tonight! There is HOPE!

There is HOPE! I flirted with that notion for a bit because I used to be a top amateur tennis player with the backhand as my stronger wing. I've since come to realize that it's my right hand that produces power in my swing. My motion is kinda like throwing the club at the ball (if that makes sense), anyway, it's a swing thought that helped me along the way. As an aside, I've made great progress with my swing this year. Tweaked it to get rid of the occasional 'wild one'. It flat out works now. As soon as I get comfy with the Rossa, I know I'm gonna find a home in the 70's. Good luck, Pete. Hang in there. leftyglfr
Please don't take offense to this, but don't be stupid... why would a righty want to come over to the dark side?!? You'll just screw yourself up even more! :(

primo
Dude Pete, don't get so paranoid. You just hit a little plataeu. IT happens. Your swing goes into a funk and there's not a damn thing you can do about it but grind it out. Don't waste your money on swing aides or left handed clubs or anything else like that. You just gotta keep playing and sooner or later it'll come back to you. It's just the game of golf telling you who's boss. You probably got a little too cocky and the golf gods are taking it out on your game. Hang in there man! BTW if you want the easiest club to hit ever pm me about my 3 wood! LOL
phillypete
BTW if you want the easiest club to hit ever pm me about my 3 wood! LOL Thanks for preying on the weak!!! hehehe Don't I already own enough of your clubs... hehe Actually I have a Steelhead which is really easy to hit to, if you don't completely miss the ball heel side!!! YIKES!! In my quest to develope an inside swing plane I have managed to learn how to hit a mean push!!! If its not slicing from the over the top its pushing from this!! I hate the right side of the golf course!! hehehe Yeah I have kinda put the breaks on my aggressive training. I am limiting myself to everyother day at the range! The other days I am at the gym... this will give me some rest from golf, keep me sane, and keep my waist line in check! Everyone wins! I am going to purchase a Swing jacket as I posted in the other thread, I feel that this will maximize my practice time b/c it seems my common problem is allowing my arms to separated from my body. This is when I start hitting six inches behind the ball and want to bend my club around my head!
ANSERMAN
I am considering switching to lefty. The grip feels better. The swing does. I am lefty in everything but golf. The only negative is reducing choices in equipment. And morons telling you that you are on the wrong side of the ball :)
4putt
I'm right handed but play lefty, maybe because my stronger arm is my left...go figure. I hurt my right shoulder a couple of years ago and started to play righty for 2-3 months but found I didn't have as much power. The pro at Hank Haney's thought my right handed swing was better than my left, which made me think I might eventually be as good right handed. But I'm about a 4 from the left and maybe a 12-14 from the right on a good day so I'm staying lefty because I frankly dont want to lose the season or so that it would take to switch completely. The pro said it's the same swing from either side; one's just a mirror image of the other, so I'll continue to try to make improvements from the left side. My experience in all this was that the hardest thing for me to do was to square the left hand at impact when I played righty. Good instruction from a good pro is the key if you decide to make the switch.
