+TourSpecGolfer
There were some issues in the past with the finish quality of the Scratch Custom made wedges. Ari has had some tuff times trying to get us the best product possible for us due to the poor quality of U.S finishers. Scratch Golf is currently in the midst of a 2005 model revamp and has purchased all new machines as well as created an OTR series that is 100% hand made and finished in Japan. I stepped away from scratch wedges due to the finish flaws a while back which is not Ari's or anyone at Scratch's fault. I am now a firm supporter once again due to the new Japanese OTR wedges. I got 6 of them in the mail today. I bought the 6 to see if the new machines made a difference. I also wanted to see the quality of the new OTR's. Here are some pics, the finish is on par with the Custom Mizuno Finishes. The OTR's are hand ground heads done in Japan.

What is the bounce and grind on the OTR's LOL beats me :-D Hey Ari! Any Idea what these wedges are? The new OTR line will be offered in 48*, 53*, 56*, 58* and 60*. The bounce angle on the 48* is 5* while the other 4 lofts have a high bounce (Digger/Driver) and a low bounce (Sweeper/Slider) option. The bounce angles are as follows: 53* Low Bounce: 6* 53* High Bounce: 8* 56* Low Bounce - 10* 56* High Bounce - 14* 58* Low Bounce - 10* 58* High Bounce - 14* 60* Low Bounce - 8* 60* High Bounce - 12* Aside from the different bounce angles, each wedge has a specific grind to make it as playable as possible in the maximum amount of situations. For example, the Low Bounce 58* and 60* have some trailing edge relief only and a moderatly cambered sole. The lack of heel and toe grind on the Low Bounce 58* and 60* makes it very playable from the sand despite the lower bounce angle. This relief along with the lower bounce make it great for flop shots and any other shots around the green for the person with the flatter more sweeping swing. The High Bounce 58* and 60* have a little bit of trailing edge relief, an aggressive heel and toe grind and very little camber. The aggressive heel and toe grind make it playable when you want to open the face even with the higher bounce angle. The high bounce angle makes it great from the sand. The higher boucne angle combined with the lack of camber make it great for any other shots around the greens for the person with a steeper more aggressive swing. Chris, The 53* and 56* that you have are the Low Bounce models. The 58* and 60* you have to look and see if there is any heel and toe relief to the grind to determine the bounce. Also FYI, this is the same Satin Chrome finish that we are now using on our custom wedges. The Polished Chrome is also done at the same plating house in Japan. Damn! It depends on the condition of your old ones and your asking price. Personally after the loss of my sticks in the burglary I'm looking for the best quality/deals I can find. Though I am close to just giving up till spring.
primo
I'm currently playing a custom 52 or 53 honestly I can't remember anymore. I snagged it before Slater got a chance to stamp the loft in it. I've had it in my bag for about 20 rounds and I must say the finish is holding up incredibly well. It still looks brand new. I'll post a pic if anyone is interested.
