Talked to a MIZUNO REP about the possible release of the clubs in the US. He told me that they had a few sets in the R and D in Norcross Ga. BUT DID not like the wear on them. He further stated " they wear like the Black-Ox wedges. For those who have the Black-ox wedges we all know thay where like crap.

Shot me down cause I was ready to order a set.............

Possible release of what clubs?

There is Black Ox and Flat Black available from Japan. They both wear easy. IMO there is no durable black except for Teflon.

I never trust reps with information they most often only have one source and its the company they work for.

Sold a ton of Mizuno Custom Irons and surprised there isn't more pics. Cmon guys post um.

I agree that one of the worst places to get information is from a rep. Not that they aren't good guys or anything , but the information they receive is always already spun so that they have their lines ready for everyone. It's always information that is for selling, not straight up info.

Why isn't Black Nickel used????

I'm going to do a batch of irons in black nickel, my MR-23s for sure to see what happens.  Anyone want to spit the costs?

Nice! Please take some pics if you have time, What do you mean split the costs? Pretty much everyone can do Black Nickel or some sort of variation but I think the bigger companies stay away or just don't like to do it for some reason. Gauge will do some wedges here and there for a studio customer but mizuno does have a dark finish that could be similar.

Who is refinishing your clubs?

I'm PMing you with some questions you maybe able to help me with.

I have connections in the metal working industry, quality is top notch!

Just be careful when taking your clubs to get refinished by just a metal worker. I can tell you from personal experience that just because someone does top notch chroming on say... Cars, Motorcycles, etc... things I thought were complicated parts... In my experience, that does not mean that they can finish a golf club correctly. The golf club is actually extremely hard to chrome correctly. Japanese finishes are the best for a few reasons, not only are the chemicals different, but I've seen where if guys that are buffing the clubs aren't golfers. For example they might just grind the bounce off the sole right off, because it'll help them chrome it easier. No matter what you tell them, it will come down to the machinist, and whatever I can probably guarnatee you that they have no idea about the design of a golf club. Sending clubs off to just any metal worker, no matter how good probably isn't a good idea. That's why you have seen so many durability issues with refinishes or in general finishes done in the US. There are chemicals that aren't even legal in the US that they use in Japan. That's just one of the reasons their finishes are so much better.

I've seen work

I'm putting a lot into getting this right, and I'm a machinist and a golfer so it will get explained correctly. All grinding and buffing will be done by me. I know it is a service people would utilize so I want to make it perfect first. The tollerances of the one I may use is very high!

I'll keep everyone informed

ahh sorry, I didn't realize you were going into business or that you were a machinist doing refinishes. My comment was really more of a warning for the general public. In case anyone thinks they can just go to any chromer and get their clubs refinished. I would be interested in seeing the durability of your clubs after they are refinished. That's when the real test begins, 6-12 months maybe 30 rounds or so...

I'm not going to do it for profit, I just want to make my clubs look better. I got this set of MR23s screaming for a new look!
