Fujikura Shaft question.

I have a 580XD tour head coming and I would like to install a Fujikura tourspec shaft that would give me a ball flight similar to a 580xd retail head with a purple ice (S) flex I played earlier this year, maybe slightly lower. I thought I wanted a SIX but now Im not sure. I am definately a swinger with about a 110 SS. I like a softer feeling tip. I have hit many shafts NV65, to boardy and stiff, Graffaloy prolite and blue, both to boardy. YS 6 and 7, again to stiff, but better feel. I have also hit the Taylormade Mitsubishi shafts that were available through the custom order department, both the Tour stiff and the Hank Kuhne and both were again to stiff, and I hit them low and right. I like to play a high draw but dont want it getting out of hand so I miss way left. Im not sure where to go for the answer so I thought someone here may be able to point me in the right direction. Help Please! :wah: Grant

I never spent a lot of time with the YS-6, but I did hit it and just didnt seep to get a much of a pop from the shaft. Maybe It was just a bad round, it was very early in the year. Do you think I would be going in the right direction by choosing the SIX? Thanks, Grant

Sounds like the SIX is the right move- I have this is an R7 and it is sweet, plays about 1/2 flex light, so I suggest start at the normal flex you would get and then tip as needed- this shaft is very lively and won't feel boardy- easy to feel the shaft load and unload- it is light(54g) so expect your SS to go up a bit- but it does keep you from getting stuck(at least for me) and swing it at about 75-80% and you will see the longest drives. another suggestion is a fuji mw54 zcom-but availablity is pretty smalll.

Hope that helps.

Joey Kwok is a certified Fujikura dealer so he probably knows alot more about Fuji shafts. I would say 553 (50g), 693tr(70g), 660tr(70g), 671te(60g) are all BADASS fuji shafts. Try the new zcom line as I have heard alot of hype about it (especially the mw54,64,74) depending on how heavy you like your shafts  (not trying to be disgusting).

The Purple Ice is a fairly heavy shaft with a very soft tip and low kick. All for a very different mix of high trajectory and weight (81 grams). Maybe the Pro95 or the 757 in a softer flex, but as far as I know, Fujikura doesn't really make a shaft like that. If you go down about 10 grams then I know of some.

Note: Some of the higher end Graphite Designs might do the trick. Those are great shafts too.

I have a 110 MPH SS . The Fuji TS 660 suits me fine.

While I agree that the 660TR is a great shaft, the characteristics are nothing like the GD Purple Ice that he likes.

Quick question: What length shaft will I need to make my 580xd tour 45" I was wondering insertion depth but I figured I should know shaft length then I will know what the actual head depth is? I also have a couple of offers on the Six and I would like to know if there is any difference with the TP Six and the actual blue-grey, Fuji speeder six? Final question. What is the difference between. Fit on 11 SIX, TP SIX, Hcom six, Tourspec six and the SIQ? Thank you again. Grant

Guys, Thanks for your help here. I dont want anyone wasting to much time on this issue of mine, but I do appreciate the help. If I had the perfect shaft it would be slightly softer in the mid section and have the same tip as the Purple Ice. I would also like it to be about 65-70 grams. I am looking for something exotic in a shaft because I have a 580xd tour coming thursday. Its my first tour club and I want that SOB to be PIMP. But, PIMPEN aint easy, so now im trying to do pimpen on a budget or sloppy seconds. I figure I would find a pulled shaft that you guys recommend. Heres my choice in the style department GD I-65 W-70, Fujikura Tourspec or Hcom series. The Six's are a cheap shaft to try but Im thinking I will be snap hooking everything with it. bottom line, if it dont pimp, Im kicken it to the curb! Its ALL :nos**t: J/K. Grant

You're all over the map on shaft weight but I'll throw in my 2 cents.

If you like the Purple Ice/580XD combo you may not find another similar setup. The P.I. is a higher launch/spin shaft and the 580XD is a higher launch/spin head, so I'm assuming you control your drives with spin. I'd tip the P.I. 1/2" and try it, then tip another 1/2" if needed.

If you have to try something new in Fujikura, try one of the Z-Com TW shafts(54,64,74(?),84).

All the same except the SIQ.
